I have mixed results with Framing4yourelf. Overall, they're decent, but the last cut to length frame ordered did not line up very well when assembled leaving visible raised edges at the corners of the frame. I get that some of this is probably assembly technique, but it isn't as easy as advertised. The finish of the moulding also rubs off amazingly easily. Very expensive prices for low quality plastic coated "wood" (sawdust + glue) mouldings. read more

One of thee items in the order was for a 20x26 white Neilson frame, matboard, foam board, and acrylic for $233.46 The mat board alone was $93.70 for a 20x26 inch piecec of paper. When I received the order I saw the cost of each item and called the company to explain what appeared to be a rediculus price for a paper mat. Their responce was they had to use a full sheet of mat paper and custum cut a hole in it. This is just one item of several other items which I have discoverd where over priced. In order to check out my concern I obtained prices from Frame It Easy . Their price for the same items was $ 92.20 compared t0 $233.46. Another item in my purchase was for a 16x20 frame set like the 20x26. Framing 4 Yourself was $157.88 compared to Fame it Easy price for $72.61. Extremely poor quality and sloppy cuts. I had searched online for a source of finished frame lengths. Previously, I had made my own frames using unfinished lengths. I ordered four 4' lengths. Two were unusable because the cuts were extraordinarily sloppy. It was almost as if someone broke the lengths over their knee. I wrote to their customer service. In return, I received snarky, condescending responses. I sent them over $200 for four 4' lengths. In return, I got 2 x 4' lengths and 2 x 3'6" lengths (which are useless to me) because of sloppy, careless cuts. And, not only did they take my money, I also got a bucketful of snark for my efforts! I ordered 30 very large (8' x 4') pre-cut plain black frames for our design studio. We mounted shoji screen plastic in them and are using them as screens. The staff was super helpful since I could not give them the size based upon the rabbit but wanted a particular finished size. The frames came faster than I was expecting. Everything was in good shape and very easy to put together with the plastic peg thingys that are taped to the outside of the frames (don't throw them away!) and a rubber mallet. We added a touch of wood glue and bolted the shoji screen material to the assembled frames. They look great as light diffusers and privacy screens! read more

I was excited to order for this site as they have great prices. i ordered three large metal frames with exact measurements that I needed. when the frames arrived two were cut larger than 1/16th of the measurements I supplied. working with customer service was less than impressive. they asked 100 questions and when I sent them photos still was asking if I measured my pieces right. obviously seeing they were going to provide no resolution I had to cut the frames myself in order for them to fit my pictures. would not recommend nor order from them again. no discount offered, no apology, no replacements. read more

Needless to say I spent numerous hours poring love and passion in to the piece. I was excited to give it to her and I wanted to frame it. The picture is on a wooden stretcher and there is no way to fit it in the frame. The measurements were correct. They cut the frame wrong. And now they won't respond to the problem. We ordered 2 very odd size frames (9.375 x 6.25) for artwork purchased abroad. We paid $0 for shipping. Placed the order on 1/15 and received 1/25. All of the pieces were packed well. The wood frames are beautiful and went together perfectly. The frames were more expensive than standard size from a store but MUCH cheaper than custom framing. Error on top of error - company in denial! I ordered two frame kits. One arrived. I forgave the error since I was only charged for one, so ordered a second. some weird 5' object arrived; no idea what it is/was. Return instructions said I had to get "permission" before sending it! E-mailed company. Stock (auto0 answer from "Jackie" fails to accept responsibility for error, claims I ordered odd object. Point out I didn't & get identical response! Point this out & get new e-mail claiming I ordered something completely different. Ever the optimist, I respond to that & get another e-mail claiming I sent a screen shot (I didn't!). Shipped unseen, unopened object back Shipping cost more than charges for unordered object. Now I await credit. It would be nice if they sent the second 13" x 19" frame I originally ordered but, if "Jackie" is real & represents their notion of customer service, I'm betting against it. What a disaster. Human error or systems glitch, I don't know. But refusing to accept responsibility and recognize good customer relations are essential, even for an on-line business, does not auger well for the outfits future. Recently used this company to supply materials for a framing project. Ordering was straightforward and my order was delivered on time. Several of the moulding strips arrived with some shipping damage. I emailed them about the problem and within a few hours they agreed to ship additional material at no cost . It's never fun to have a problem with shipping but they went above and beyond to make it more than right. Great to work with a company that cares about it's Customers. The quality and attention to detail was lacking. Their advertised mat board is cheap looking when it arrives (very thin) and was not even cut at a true bevel. The mat they sent (which they refunded but never apologized for) was sloppily cut with a dull blade and showed lots of chaffing and over cut. And they failed to send any hardware to assemble until I called to ask for it. Wouldn't recommend their work. read more

I ordered some supplies online and paid with my debit card. When there was an overdraft in my checking account, I found that there were 2 charges from this company. One for the original total, and one higher amount. I called and left a message, no one called back. When I called again the next day, I was hung up on half way through the call. When I called back again, the girl told me that that is how they do orders with Illinois tax and that the second debit is the final total. She said that the first charge will be voided, don't know when. No apology for over drafting my account. No offer of restitution. This company is a total FRAUD. I ordered a custom frame, mat and plexiglass in September. I received part of my order (the mat and plexiglass) but never received the actual frame. I followed up with "Jackie" at Framing 4 Yourself several times and she kept telling me the frame was on back order. I finally got so frustrated, I asked to cancel my order but Framing 4 Yourself refuses to refund me. Having the plexiglass and mat without the frame is absolutely useless. Ordered 8-feet of two different frame styles, plus a sample chip with the intention of ordering more framing material later. They charged my card the full order amount, shipped me the sample quickly, and eventually one of the frame styles I had ordered. When that frame style arrived the packing slip claimed that the rest of the order was back ordered, but the part number they said they didn't have was the one they had sent me. I never received the rest of my order. After complaining on facebook and sending an email threatening a charge back, I got an email from someone named Rachel who asked what part of my order I had not received. I answered back and never got another response, or the rest of my order. My card was charged the full amount way back when I placed the order, which should never have happened if part of the order was on back order. There's been zero communication to me about when stuff was going to ship, whether any was back ordered, or what the ETA is on fulfilling it. I see no evidence that the company plans to ever fulfill the rest of my order. Bad communication, bad business practices, bad customer service. A complaint will be filed with the attorney general. Do yourself a favor and avoid these people. read more

I ordered a custom sectional frame, acrylic glazing and foam board board backing. I thought the company had a great selection of frames, and the site was pretty easy to navigate as well. My products came on time and the frame fit together easily with the slot and peg system provided. I saved money using the custom frame this way, and would go this route again rather than use the local custom frame shop. Something is up with this outfit. First, they don't actually make any frames. They farm out their framing to other companies. So, they're the middleman.. Second, they lie. First i called and asked "how long will these frames take?" they answered 24 hours. 3 days later, I called again. they informed me the frames were going to ship in 2 days. 4 days later I called again. 5 days after that I called again! Finally, they told me they were shipping out of Tennessee. But, I thought you guys were located in Arlington Heights? Last year we wanted to use black picture frames as the support for some cool 4' x 8' sheets of Japanese shoji screen plastic we found to create privacy screens for our office. The staff at Framing4Yourself helped us determine the right size (because we didn't have artwork dimensions but had a overall dimension we needed), helped us choose the best frame for our project, and gave us a good price for the volume. The order came fast. The frames went together with little plastic tabs that you insert into routered pockets - so easy! We added a little wood glue since each of our 40+ frames is 4' x 8'. I used this company for a couple of pieces I framed for my cousin for her wedding. The frames and other materials (mat, backing, Plexi, etc.) arrived within a week and the pictures turned out great. It's a little confusing at first to figure out what size to order but I think its that way no matter how you frame and once you get the hang of it its no problem. I called and explained the problems with the wood they asked me to pack it up for a return shipment and sent me a moulding I chose from a different manufacturer. I ordered a custom self-assemble frame from this company. It arrived faster than I anticipated, so I left it unopened until my painting was ready to frame. When I opened the box I found that the wood was so warped that I couldn't even assemble the frame. When I contacted the company to ask for an exchange, they tried to blame me for the product's condition. After several email exchanges in which I even sent photos, they told me that they wouldn't help me because it had been 30 days. It was 37 days to be exact.
