I like the layout, the staff is great and they are always stocked. I've been to the one in Naperville and the one in Plainfield and they are just not the same. The staff at this location is always extremely helpful, friendly and always greet you with a smile. I'm lucky that this location is close to my work and I'm able to get there on my lunch break. You have to have a cosmetology license to shop there though.

This…read moreis a salon professional beauty supply store so you need to be a licensed beautician, aesthetician or nail tech to make purchases here. However, I have infiltrated said store several way. Those being: my two best friends, my bf. I've frequented CosmoProf several times and have always encountered friendly staff that's willing to come out from behind the counter to assist me with looking for nail polishes (I have the bf to retrieve my hair needs). The staff is always really friendly, even to an outsider like myself and usually chit chat w us while we browse. The prices are a-may-zing..I mean really, you can't beat $4.50 for a bottle of OPI. I also have gotten great deals on hair products such as $8 bottles of Aquage finishing spray, awesome sales on liters of shampoo and conditioners of all varieties and countless other products (ehemmm Quick Tan spray for $10). The only minor bummers are that a) they do not sell Essie, b) they sell out of OPI collections quickly (since this is beauty industry exclusive and those people are always quick to snatch up whatever's hot)..and c) I cannot shop here unsupervised, which may actually be a good thing since I'd surely head home with one of everything if I was left to my own devices.

This small shop caught my eye as we were moseying down Third Street in Geneva last weekend. The…read moreentrance is a somewhat farther back from the sidewalk than the others in town so it might be easy to miss. Any shop using the word "apothecary" tends to pique my interest since they often carry more niche brands, or higher end skincare, and as someone who loves exploring skincare I am quick to stop in; this was no different. I was a little surprised to see as much Dr. Hauschka here as they carry since that's a line you can get at Whole Foods. It was also a surprise that as a shop specializing in makeup and skin care that they didn't appear to carry a sunscreen--and I mean an a product that was solely sunscreen, not a foundation or lip color with SPF 30 or something. Sunscreen is probably the most important thing one can use in their routine, but you wouldn't guess that at a shop focused on skincare? They have a LOT of scents here. It's a small shop and it can quickly become overwhelming, as well as hard to tell the perfumes apart. Both of us customers in store quipped about the lack of coffee beans, and learned that they had them once and when they spilled they stopped using them. I was curious about one but I wasn't able to tell what it truly smelled like since one of the other folks in the shop had sprayed several already. The person working gave me a little tester to take home, though, which I appreciated. I would give this store another whirl if I was in the area. But overall I was a bit disappointed in their skin care options and lack of detail (the missing sun protection). They have a lot of makeup here too but I didn't really look at that much (it was somewhat dark in the shop so I wouldn't have been able to see a true color anyway). The building is not accessible; there are several steps to get into the shop. It's street parking only.

Nicole's on Briarcliff charges upwards of $4 more for a lot of products that Young's also carries for a fraction of the price. Their selection is better, more in inventory, pristinely organized, clean, and probably too comfortable. Lol. You can drop a bomb here. They have endless accessories; both demure, and quite flamboyant. A perfect beauty supply store for any woman, man, and child. They have it all. Just give yourself some time to shop, because they have so many intricate, darling items, that you never knew you needed, that's it's gonna be awhile. This mornings haul cost me $45, and when I was done paying, and realized I'd forgotten an intended to purchase, and handed him cash for it, Mr. Young kindly gifted the item to me to save me time. Very generous, and thoughtful of a business owner. Plus, they always open prior to their already early opening hour of 9 a.m. Nicole's is supposed to open at 10, and never is. Very unprofessional, annoying, and rude to customers allowing their time to patronage, and I will not return there after finding Young's. No comparison, so will no longer consider it, when I have this diamond in the rough.
