I went in and was greeted by several. Thank you. I needed some concealer at the Charlotte Tilbury line. A clerk was bagging up a customer's products. The clerk asked my name and said she would help me. A customer came in after me and the clerk started helping her instead of me. The clerk even said to me I could be her audience as she applied the makeup to the customer who came in after me. After 10-15 minutes I walked out. The clerk acknowledged me and then by passed me. I have money. I was dressed nice. The only thing I can think of is I have some wrinkles. In fact my birthday is today. I'm very disappointed in my experience. read more

Showed up 30 minutes before closing to a locked door followed by a really rude and unpleasant girl to just shake her head and say we're closed, even though the site and hours say otherwise, she just shook her head at me and denied business that she is now never going to get. Ashley (with the black hair, since I know there's two Ashleys lol) helped me pick out a new foundation + took about ten minutes of her time to shade match me. Super super kind, and she always is when I come in and see her working! Stopped by this Sephora location again yesterday and to my surprise I had a wonderful experience this time around. As soon as I walked into the store I was greeted by two wonderful smiling associates. I had a few people stop to ask if I needed help as well. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I made my purchase and on the way out an associate said have a nice day. Again, I was pleasantly surprised because it was a much better experience than what I've grown accustomed to from Sephora. I love this Sephora, it's probably my favorite of all time. The employees here are always super nice and knowledgeable. I love going to this Location because I always feel as if I'm going to have a great experience. The ladies are so passionate about what they do and love to recommend products to their customers. I love this place and you will too, defintely check them out. It's a great Sephora to visit if you are nearby. They have great products, free parking, other amazing stores nearby. In general this is a great location with great people. I have driven to this location before just because of the service they provide and the store is not very close to where I live. Imagine my horror when Ulta very unprofessionally, canceled an appt (with a laugh) that I had made several weeks prior with no advance notice at all. An appt for hair and makeup for one of the biggest nights of my year. Thank heavens Sephora was just a street over! I rushed over there and explained my situation and begged an associate, Albree, to help me out. She received the okay from a manager and the next thing I know, I'm in a chair getting my face scrubbed. You have to spend a minimum of $50 on products but the application itself is free. That's really not a bad deal, considering you're walking away with product. With luxe eyelashes that are reusable and the purchase of the NARS lipstick, the Diorskin Forever foundation that smelled fantastic and looked flawless, and the Givenchy Noir Couture mascara, it came to $140. No, it wasn't the mere $50, but I was so happy with the look they gave me, purchasing some products to recreate it was an absolute given. After getting my skin digitally photographed and given the very best foundation that matched, I will never buy foundation any other way. It's a perfect match. --A match you won't get any other way. Certainly not at a mall makeup counter with a few dabs on your hand. Besides, why do so many match makeup to your hand when that's not where it goes??? My only reason for giving them 4 Stars instead of 5 is because the last time I was in there with a friend, we were there for an hour and I don't think we were even spoken to until we rang up at the end. I didn't need anyone's help that day, but asking me if I needed it would still have been preferred. That's the only area I believe they might have some room for improvement. Quick update because my most recent experience at Sephora was just great! Apparently I'm a VIP rewards member which meant I was given a complimentary makeover. Scheduling it was super easy, although they only had a couple times available on a Saturday which I wasn't surprised about because I know they get busy. My makeover experience was awesome! The makeup artist I had was super sweet and helpful and I appreciated that she explained the products she used on me. They even log all the products for you and send you an email so you know exactly what to purchase in the future if you liked what was used. It was my birthday party later that night, so I wanted my makeup done a little more dramatic then what I wear daily. She went with a dark Smokey eye with glitter and a pinkish nude lip. It turned out beautifully! I loved that she asked about my skin type, because I've been battling dry skin lately so she was able to use some really great moisturizing products. I decided to splurge and get fake eye lashes for an extra $10, but they made all the difference (plus I can totally reuse them). The only bummer was halfway thru the party I felt them starting to come off, but luckily it came with glue to reapply. After my makeover I was "subtly" ask what she could get me product wise. It wasn't sales-y, but I still felt some pressure to make a purchase. I did end up needing new moisturizer so I spent a little extra and splurged on the Dior serum which is pretty great. I also bought an eyebrow highlighter. She used one on me, but I went with the cheaper version which was the Sephora brand. I tried it for the first time today, but not sure I'm sold on it yet. I wish I couldn't even rate this 1 star. I've been to a lot of Sephora stores in a lot of different states and this is by far the WORST one I have been to. The workers were unhelpful, beyond rude, and not welcoming whatsoever. Sephora's whole brand is all about inclusivity and creating an environment where "all customers feel welcomed and treated with respect." This was the complete opposite. I just had my expectations blown away by this location. Today was my 30th birthday and I had a "treat yo self" day and I wanted to wrap up my pampering by having my makeup done. I didn't have much of an idea on how it would go at Sephora as I've had some positive and some negative experiences in the past. I set up an appointment to have my makeup done. I had Alex and she was BEYOND fabulous. First of all her makeup was stunning so that put me at ease when I first met her. I decided to add lashes to my look and was SO happy with what she recommended. I showed Alex a photo of what i was thinking and she copied it perfectly. She showed me and talked to me about the products she was using but was not pushy about anything. I ended up getting the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lip she used on me and there was a anti-redness cream she used as well (can't remember the name and I'm not getting out of bed haha) and these LASHES. GIRL. They are so dramatic but I'm in love with them. Alex was so great and I interacted with several other employees in the store and just had such a positive experience! Walked in for a random shopping trip since I was in the area. Took a while to be approached. Finally, when asked if I needed help it took several times for a (manager?) to call someone over as they seemed to be caught up in conversation with a fellow coworker. Once she got to me she was rushing to find a foundation shade for me and was still engaged in her pervious conversation WHILE working with me. This was about 2 weeks ago and I am currently upset with my foundation color as it does not look the same as it did when she half a**ed applied it. The interior is like any average sephora. They do not have an extensive range of products like some of the larger locations (like at the mall in Schaumburg). BUT, it is one experience with staff that have driven me to write this review. I am 23 years old and came in without makeup, hair in a bun, slightly unimpressive clothes on with two of my friends dressed the same. Basically, I did not exactly look like clientele that would be buying expensive items or any items at all. But, I am a VIB Rouge member, and do buy things at this sephora. I was looking at a collagen skin care item when I was approached by an older lady who works at this sephora - the only older employee who I am assuming was hired to cater to that age clientele. She said "you're supposed to pat that in not rub...and it is for older skin" in a rude tone. I love to explore makeup and products, and was just doing that by looking at this item, and I was basically told that it is not for me or my skin type and I was experimenting with it wrong. So I said OK and walked away. To which she FOLLOWED ME and my friends all throughout the store (she thought we were going to steal something - I am assuming based on our age and how we were dressed). We then returned to the back corner of the store where skincare is located, and were having fun trying different moisturizers and toners, etc. She followed us back again, and we overheard her say into her ear piece "they are now in the back corner". Then, two other sephora employees came swooping in onto us. I get that they monitor for theft, but this was so blatant and left a horrible taste in my mouth that I was being targeted as a thief based on my age and clothing. Very rude. read more

VIB Rouge here, so obviously I'm all about that Sephora life. I love this store. Never have I walked in without being greeted and offered help. They make custom samples for you for any product, which all Sephora stores should do, but at this store they are so cool about it AND they offer advise for what other products go with the items you're going to try. These ladies are just straight up pleasant. They know their stuff backwards and forwards. On my most recent visit there was a REN kit I'd been searching for. Although the app said this store had it, it wasn't on the sales floor. Luckily the sales associate went and found it in back for me without me having to suggest it. One tip I can offer here is that if you want samples with your purchase, you have to ask. I think back in the day they'd just throw some in the bag at checkout, but no Sephora store seems to to that anymore. read more

I need to lay some groundwork at the start of this review. There are many women who excel in the art of makeup. They know the products, the brands, the consistencies, the tools, the "in" colors, and a host of other things of which I cannot even dream. I am NOT one of these women. For a date, a good night out, or a picture, I wear simple makeup- eyeliner, nude eyeshadow, tinted chapstick and possibly mascara. If my skin is bad, oh well. If I put on powder I look like I am getting ready to star in Kabuki Theater. Foundation? Forget it! I'm pale and pink. Me trying a smoky eye? Yeah, I end up appearing as if I have wrecked my car. You get the idea. Given this info, you may be able to see how the people who work at these stores can throw me off my stride. Not here! They were wonderful! I came in to pick up a purse-sized spray of my favorite perfume. I was greeted and helped immediately. Since they were so kind and helpful, I thought I'd explore some natural glosses (you know- instead of chapstick). We found one that was perfect and really expensive. The super friendly and helpful person assisting me was able to cut off more than 20$ in the price by matching the color almost perfectly to a store brand gloss. I would leave a 0 star review if I could. I just went in to this location and I never felt so un-welcomed and judged shopping in a store. I went in without my hair and makeup undone and had comfortable outfit and as soon as we walked in, no greeting but they just stared at me like I was about to steal something. they kept following me around the store and didn't say a word. I couldn't even browse in peace without being judged or stared at by an employee. Finally, when I decided not to purchase anything due to the uncomfortable atmosphere, one male employee did ask if i needed help. My entire visit was unpleasant and this needs to be changed immediately and this is why I rarely ever come to sephora and would rather buy online. Sephora, Sephora, Sephora! Oh, how I love Sephora! VIB Rouge status, so obviously I'm all about that Sephora life. This is a great location in downtown Naperville. If you are anybody who is anybody in the western burbs, thn you have been to downtown Naperville. Sephora just opened up there a couple years ago! Great location, great staff, always restocked, and a very clean store! The ONLY issue at this location is the swarm of teenage girls that get dropped off by the van full from otherwise "busy moms"..when I was younger, there was NO way we could go inside a Ulta or Sephora just to kill time. Not only does that take up the time of the very busy staff, but these teenage girls practically do an entire makeover for themselves and for their friends. The staff always stay polite to all guest, but at times they do tell the little teenie boopers that "uhhh this lipstick cost more thn your 10th grade algebra book" lol The staff is always willing to give generous samples of products! I only go to the location because it is on my way home..but if you want to actually enjoy the store and the products..thn you should set up an appointment..and actually enjoy it! Go in the afternoon. I stopped in because I was in urgent need of Sephora brand black eyeliner. This is the best kohl eyeliner that I've used, and it has a handy smudging tip on one end. I seriously feel lost without my black eyeliner, so I'm glad to have this sort of convenient location around now. The store is clean and organized, but the service is horrible. I was greeted right away when I walked in, but after that, I was iced out. I was asked if I needed help finding anything. I told her I just needed my eyeliner, and then she just turned her back to me. Her body language said, "okay, f*ck off then." When I got to the register, I stood there, did the obvious look-around-the-store, and I saw 3 employees roaming around the store. I don't know why I didn't stick the eyeliner in my pocket and walk out. It was 15 minutes after opening, and I only saw one other customer in the store. When someone finally sauntered up to the register, she didn't even say hello or apologize, she just scanned my item and asked for my Sephora card - all while mid-conversation with another employee. Parking over here is atrocious. I had to park at the library across the street. Again, this was on a rainy day right after opening, so you know those convenient spots are being taken up by the lazy brats that work here. 2 stars since they had my eyeliner in stock, but finding it at any other location has never been a problem. One of the worst Sephora store I have ever been to. I Am Rogue Beauty insider customer. I came in to return/exchange an online order I received that was completely damaged. The product from the dior foundation was all over the packaging. I just wanted to exchange the item but since this Dior foundation was not carried by the location.. I just opted into returning it. That's where the problem started this cashier/manager told me I'm unable to return the item because it was completely empty even though she could clearly see the bottle was damaged and the product was spilled all over the packaging. I called Sephora customer service prior to coming into the store and they told me I can bring the damaged item to any Sephora store for exchange or return. I honestly think the cashier/manager was racially profiling me thus the attitude and not able to do the return for me. I'm NEVER EVER COMING BACK TO THIS LOCATION. read more

My review rating is less about the store employees and more about the store itself. First off, the employees are great. They're kind, they're helpful, and they're patient. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience with anyone here and I'm thankful for it. But the store. What the heck. While it's well organised and filled with products, I can't say I've ever purchased something at this store that I haven't returned. Why? The lighting. It's like a funhouse. Apparently I'm not the only one to notice this, but the lighting is horrendous. When I go into Sephora and look in a mirror, I immediately feel sad and wonder how I even left the house looking as terrible as the lights and mirrors in the store make me look. As soon as I'm back outside or at home, everything is back to normal. How in the world can a store that sells makeup not invest good lighting? In this day and age, we have more choices than hospital lighting. So, I occasionally trying something, purchase said something, try it on at home to find that it's NOTHING like it looked in the store, and return it. I don't bother to invest more time into looking for a replacement; I quickly go to MAC or Nordstrom where the environment isn't nearly as scary. read more

I was pretty stoked once I learned about a Sephora opening in Downtown Naperville. Pretty stoked the day I went shopping here too! I have mixed feelings about my first experience... I was on the fence about giving this place 3 or 4 stars...4 since I walked out a happy customer. I had a gift card to spend, and I wanted to pick up my birthday month gift. Last time I went to Sephora (downtown Chicago on State Street) I wanted the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer all my co-workers bragged about....low and behold I returned with a two faced make up pallet and their liquid foundation since I must have requested help from someone who worked for Two Faced Cosmetics... so I tried again because I really prefer tinted moisturizer and this Laura Mercier stuff was supposed to be good. My Mom & I walked in on a Saturday afternoon...the place wasn't swamped, but not dead... no greeting, though several staff members doing stock or whatever kind of looked at us with no acknowledgement. I needed someone to color match me...usually I come in, get what I need and head out but I did need help. My mom suggested I stay by the Laura Mercier stuff and she'd hunt someone down... eventually she did! Most of the girls did seem busy but it was almost to the point of ridiculous. I wish I remembered the name of the woman who helped us but she took out that fancy color matching camera thing they put on your face - it will email you the shades from different lines that match your color... sooooo cool! She was wonderful and very helpful. (Store Manager, if you're reading this...all I can say is she's blonde) I walked out spending a pretty penny once we were done...my Mom as well, but the process was a bit annoying, I hope my next visit here is better. read more

I stopped in today to find a new foundation, and Georgie helped me out. She was AMAZING. I wanted to test Fenty foundation, and unfortunately it just wasn't a good fit for me. So she recommended Tarte By the Sea foundation and it was perfect. She even did a few extra steps so I would look nice for work tonight. She is so nice and knowledgeable, and you can tell that she puts love and passion into her job. Every employee I interacted with was great as well. For the most part I like this Sephora. Here is the problem folks. An incident occurred here which should have never happened and not one person contacted the authorities. I felt unsafe as I was threatened by a shopper in line who was threatening to physically harm me. The lady at the register who will go unnamed at this time didn't do anything about it. When I mentioned this to her she quietly apologized but this didn't change the fact that someone nearly attacked me. Today I went to this Sephora location for the third time. It's in a very convenient location & like other Sephoras, has what you need. The first time I went into this store, I had my 3 boys & was scolded at checkout for bringing them in. They weren't doing anything except looking at things & being boys - making jokes, being silly & the youngest, my 6 year old, was touching the testers of a couple of makeup things. I was told that it's not a place for boys because it's like a candy shop & the temptation is too great. I walked out very angry. The second time I was there, I was alone & had a nice experience. Today I was alone & again found myself with the first salesperson, who again felt the need to ask if I needed help & when I said no, she followed me throughout the store. She was always 2 - 3 feet away & at one point we were bumping into each other. Honestly?? I'm a 43 year old mom. I'm dressed in workout clothes. Do I look like I may steal? Or perhaps I look to dumb to ask someone for help if I need it?? I typically love Sephora, but I do all I can to avoid this location. I'll go to Ulta or order online. Never have I been so insulted. Very very disappointed with this salesperson. She doesn't belong there (& she must assume I'm going to give her a poor review because she never gave me her name & every other associate says it upon approach & writes it on the receipt for the survey...so what does that tell you?) I am a Sephora junkie however I must say that I've received better customer service at other Sephora locations. Generally, the girls at this location are very sweet but you occasionally get the helicopter employees hovering over you and asking if you need any help. That aside, there is one employee...she's a middle aged woman with blonde hair and tight curls. She works the register and has a stank attitude every time I've dealt with her. She gives me dirty looks, is very short, doesn't thank me for being VIB rouge as the other employees always do and she acts like I'm suspicious or something when I pay with cash. Of course, she never wears a name tag so I can't even point out specifically who she is (probably doesn't wear it because she knows what a b**** she is being to customers). When I see her at the register now, I cringe and pray that timing works out and one of the other girls ring me. Other than crabby patty at the checkout, I usually find what I'm looking for and enjoy stopping in at this Sephora. New: I don't understand what is up with this Sephora. I returned a mascara that I had an allergic reaction to and I swear if they had inspected the thing any closer, they would've pulled out a microscope. I'm not sure what the girl was looking for but it made me feel like I had somehow tampered with the product or was being suspicious. When she processed my return, she asked if I wanted cash or store credit. I told her cash seeing as that is the method with which I paid and she genuinely seemed irritated to have to give me the cash. Having worked in retail I know that people used to grab cash-paid receipts out of the trash, find the products, and return it to get the cash BUT the item I was returning isn't even sold at the Sephora location I returned it to. I recently went to this sephora and as soon as I walked in I was greeted by the sweetest coolest girl named katie.. she was everything costumer service should be! Make up shopping should be fun and she exceeded that. By giving me a mini make over, color matching, and giving me samples of products I was discussing I had wanted. She was very sanitary and knew her products, she just didn't put things on my face and didn't explain the ingredients and features and benefits. She's awesome I'll always return because of her !
