The building looks like a house, with a large sign out front. There is indoor seating, with picnic tables out back for seasonal weather. There is also a restroom inside. Apparently they make enough food for the day and when it's gone, it's gone. The food is delicious, although I'd prefer fried chicken instead of steamed (personal). It was good chicken, but needed ketchup (is that sacrilegious for a bar be que restaurant?) The Mac and cheese was AMAZING with lots of cheese and mixed so the toasted top was spread throughout. If you like bar-be-que sauce, they offer sweet or spicy, and let you apply your own. Great service too, even though people kept coming in, asking detailed questions, they moved quickly.

Parking the car I happen to notice very nice outside seating in the backyard, and walking up to the restaurant, the wonderful smell of the different meats and smoker happening! I was hoping this visit was gonna be something special! I entered into this little restaurant and was greeted warmly by possibly one of the owners. My order was placed for a beef brisket sandwich, that includes a side order of coleslaw, for $14.95. The fountain drink was $3.50. So for $20, I felt this was not a mistake driving all the way out here Let me tell you, the beef brisket had a lovely char ring, with pink juicy color inside . This generous portion was served on a lovely soft sandwich roll, along with the requested spicy barbecue sauce on the side. The juiciness and taste of this wonderful beef brisket exploding in my mouth told me I made a wonderful choice. Also accompanying the sandwich was a small order of coleslaw, that was both sweet and vinegary, with nice crunchy cabbage. This was delicious also. The service was extremely quick, almost like it was fast food, I think the sandwich was served me within two minutes. This was unexpected and appreciated. If you're looking for a quick lunch, Zach and Lou's would be a great choice. The inside of the restaurant was clean and simple. A few tables inside, but the outside seating area looked very inviting to just sit and enjoy a lunch. It was just too hot for me on this day. The restroom was neutral, and extremely clean My thoughts are, if you are in the northwest Hills craving some really good barbecue, this would be a good destination. The menu was short and sweet, with lightning quick service. I look forward to returning again soon.

Freddy the owner was incredibly hospitable. The bar was teeming with locals and it was a fun vibe with people eating at the bar. The TVs were on and the spirits were high. There was one server for the bar area pretty much doing it all. And I have to say she was amazing and 100% able to multi task all the bar orders and our table. While we were there the tables at the bar got filled up, and that was a good thing. I've heard people complain about the service but we had zero problems, and our food came out perfectly and in time. My drink was a Negroni and it was most excellent, on the strong side, but well done with top shelf liquor. For appetizer have calamari which were extra screwy and fresh tasting. The bread was homemade in their kitchen and delicious. The Lobster a ravioli was delicious. I think they said this was their best seller. A nicely constructed plate, and worth $29.00. There were 6 decent sized shrimp, and 6 large ravioli. The sauce was like a creamy red/pink sauce with a splash of wine, and perfectly seasoned. We also had a salmon dish (not shown,) baked potato with broccoli, with a generous piece of fresh Salmon. We really enjoyed the meal and we hope to back again soon! P.s. our server was friendly and super sweet and was eager to make sure we had a perfect night. Kudos for the service!

Drinks were on the strong side, and we felt the flight was expensive at $25. Our steaks were disappointing, overcooked. I've had much better steaks at a Longhorn, at a lesser price. My Mother In Law thought her meal was decent though, but my wife & I agreed, we don't see a reason for a return visit. If they can't cook steaks properly, how would other menu items be, like the pizza ? The bar itself seemed cool, but we also noted that the flowers outside were in desperate need of watering. We are in the middle of a July Heat Wave here in Connecticut, but these plants have been neglected for some time. Just makes me think everything else in the Mill House has also been neglected, but I feel this place has so much potential. Torrington needs this type of bar, but the food and the lack of attention to detail just doesn't cut it. Sorry, I'm agreement with several other Yelp reviewers that feel the Mill House is mediocre, at best.
