We didn't know the area well and the last few lunches we had at this location were average. One girl that used to work in the area, came up and said "oh, we have to go to Paul's market! ". I was skeptical because it sounded like we were having lunch at a grocery store. Turned out, it was a butcher shop and deli with a great menu. We were a fairly big group and they worked their way through our orders efficiently as well as the other customers. They gave the kind of service I like when I eat out. I asked them what the best item on the menu was they asked me a couple questions, gave me a recommendation. (the Italian stallion.) and asked me some follow up questions about condiments, they answered a few more questions and they delivered! When I was looking at sides to have with it, he told me the sandwich was " hefty". He was he was right. A lot of times when I'm out for a quick bite I might swing by a Jimmy John's or a subway just to get a quick sandwich, but this was an example of why it's always best to go local. While we were in the ordering process, the guy who looked like the butcher and was also the owner came over to check and make sure we were getting our needs met. He was very busy, but he even made it outside once we all were served to check on things and thank us for coming by. I had a chance to look around and noticed the full valley of barbecue fried chicken and all their sides. I went over and looked at the meat counter in the steaks and other items looked fantastic. Not what you find at the grocery store. As someone who worked in the food service industry in high school and college, my standards for good service are relatively high. This experience reminded me of my days at a locally owned family run business with great food and great service and a responsive staff. Now that I know where this is when I'm in North County that's where I'll be stopping

The first time I ever went to Frandeka's I was absolutely blown away by the selection. There were meats and cuts that I've never heard of. No matter what you're looking for, they probably have it. From linked meats like cajun brats to hand crafted lunch meats, you won't have to make multiple stops thanks to Frandeka's. And all the prices are incredibly reasonable as well. The customer service at Frandeka's was also stellar! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They offered suggestions and also guidance on what would work best for the gumbo I was cooking. My eyes immediately did a quick scan trying to figure out where everything was that I saw in the video. Big cookie? Check (register); the chips? (Made in house and directly behind me on the shelf). The jackpot was the sandwiches which were located in the deli to the left of the register. I made my way back there and was surprised that not only did they have a hot bar, but they also had tons of deli meat, different cuts of meat, breads and vegetables! I took a quick scan of the menu and knew I wanted the Truffles Caprese but on foccacia instead of the bread it came with. I noticed the hot bar had shrimp and some chicken balls which I found out were chicken spiedini! While ordering my sandwich, I inquired about the spiedini and they let me try some. The spiedini was equally good, if not better than what they serve at Charlie Gitto's. It was packed full of flavor, had a nice char on the outside and seasoned to perfection, just how I like it. I ended up sticking with the sandwich and decided to browse the store while my sandwich was being made. I love how they have everything you need and at relatively good prices. I was surprised at how much alcohol they had- it seemed like they had more of that than the groceries! It wasn't long until my sandwich was ready and I decided to grab a chocolate chip cookie because you know I couldn't leave without getting something sweet. My first bite of my sandwich surpassed my expectations as the balsamic was so fresh as were the tomatoes and the burrata paired well with the rest of the ingredients. After a few bites, I felt the cookie calling my name. It was perfect in every way- soft, the right amount of chocolate chips, and the sea salt sealed the deal as far as the taste goes. My first visit to the Truffles Butchery Market was a success and I'm already trying to figure out when I can return!
