First of all, you have to remember you are not eating at a five-star restaurant, this is a fishmarket with a fried fish stand at the edge of Grafton. That being said, it is the place I always go to and everything is always great. Yesterday I had the daily special of "buffalo fritters" and got some fries with it. The fritters were really fun to eat - they are "scored" so it looks like they put the fish through a spiralizer. They have a cornmeal based coating, and they come out super crispy - parts of it was almost like eating chips! The fries were we're just the run-of-the-mill crinkle fries, but they were hot and fresh, and cooked well. You order at the front window, and then wait for them to call you at the side window for your order. When I got there at 1:30 I was third in line, and had to wait maybe 10 minutes for my fish to come out. When I left about an hour later, there were eight people in line. So, just keep in mind, it can be a busy place! Lots of large and small picnic tables to choose from, some in the shade, some in the sun. Plenty of parking. We have been going to Beasleys for years. The last 5 times we visited we were not happy. With only 11 people ahead of us, we waited over 45 minutes each time. I watched the window and noted they didn't serve a single order of fish for over 30 minutes, it was one box. The next order came out 22 minutes later, 2 boxes. Most of the conversation between customers was about how long they have been waiting and how the people working there are absolutely the slowest and most unorganized. Group in Beasley history. We gave up after 55 minutes and left very unhappily. Whoever was in charge has no business operating a restaurant. It's sad to see such an institution fail so miserably after so many years of success. Hope the owners see this and make some rapid changes so we can enjoy going there again. But until we do, we will be going to one of the many other restaurants in Grafton for our fish sandwiches. read more

1-9-21: Went Eagle watching and stopped into Beasley's Fish for some hot fish. I had the spoonbill nuggets and shrimp. They were both really good. It's fried fish but I could tell the spoonbill is a heartier fish and tasty. I would definitely recommend. read more

You can bring your cooler full of ice, buy fresh river fish to take home to fry. Or you can order from their hot fish stand next door and enjoy it on one of their many picnic tables. As I was out boating with my cousins, we started talking about where we should eat when we docked back at Grafton Harbor. I said, a couple of my Yelp friends had eaten at and recommended a fish shack. I couldn't remember the name, so I'm starting to look it up on the Yelp app. I said, I knew it began with a B. My cousin, immediately said, "Beasley". A friend of her's had recommended it to her just the other day. We decided, if Yelp and personal friends recommend it, it must be good. We arrived very close to closing, but the staff was very cheerful and helpful. We all wanted Catfish, so that part was easy. So we could try different sides, we each ordered a different one and then divided them up amongst ourselves. We went with the typical fried sides; french fries, onion rings and hush puppies. No alcohol here, just Pepsi products to enjoy. I'm a Coke fan, but I can enjoy a Diet Pepsi when a Coke Zero isn't available. There's also no inside dining, it's all outside patio at picnic tables. That is part of the charm. Food is good. Prices are unbelievably affordable. So when you're in Grafton, relax and eat like the locals. You'll be glad that you did. Will I Return? - Hell, yes. So this place is as simple as a roadside fish joint comes. They're not fancy at all, just a little mom and pop fish restaurant. There's tables and benches for family style outdoor seating. Actually it's the only seating available if you're going to "eat in". Basic condiments are offered for your fish: tartar sauce, catsup, hot sauce, and onions. Again nothing fancy. Why the 5 stars? Because although the menu is quite simple, they do everything so well. For the first time in my life I was able to eat fried buffalo while it was still hot. No bones at all! This is mind blowing! I'd actually given up eating buffalo because it was too much work and I always felt like I lost half the fish while picking bones. For those of you that love buffalo this is your spot! I'm sadden to right this review because until 2 weeks ago, Beasley's was one of our favorite spots to eat. We had been going to Beasley's for years. During COVID-19 we began about once a week. One of our friends began to inquire because we ate there so often so she decided to try on 12/4/20. When she and her husband arrived, they noticed the Trump sign posted directly next to the Beasley sign so she called me immediately stating they couldn't eat there. I informed her there is no sign there as we would've noticed since we were there weekly. She and her husband insisted there is a Trump sign. On 12/11/20, we decided to go their doe lunch. As we pulled into the lot we noticed the sign. We were amazed because their hasn't been a sign their previously. We weren't sure if someone not affiliated with them put it there or not but felt the owners had to have seen it as clearly as we did. People have the right to have their own political views; however, Trump has been truly divisive. As African Americans, I can't eat in an establishment that outright supports a racist. It leads me to believe those who are black or brown are not welcomed at that establishment. We ordered and ate our food that day. But we also knew it was our last time patronizing Beasleys. We are now searching for a new spot to eat fresh fish. read more

This place has amazing fried breaded buffalo fish! I love coming here during the summer, and during the fall. In fact, I like their fish so much that even in the cold winter days, I still make the trek. It's just a small place with a fish market on one side and the outdoor dinning/place to order area on the other side. They are usually very busy and there is usually a line especially during lunch hours and a combination of weekend and lunch hours are the worse but their fish is worth the wait. Other things on their menu that I have tried are their catfish fritters, their homemade coleslaw, some fried mushrooms (which I believe may have been discontinued), hush puppies, onion rings and some fried shrimp. They are all pretty good but the buffalo fish is still much preferred. As far as the service goes, you go up to the counter and they take your order and then give you a ticket and your receipt which you should keep because they want it back when they call your name to redeem your order. There are picnic tables you can sit in. I like to take my order and have a picnic by the lighthouse during the summer or the cooler fall days! read more

We ordered at the window and then waited in the shade and locals chatted and picked their teeth with fish bones. Fried catfish and buffalo fish served over white bread with some cole slaw and perfectly seasoned hush puppies on the side. Dab some hot sauce or tartar sauce on your fish, and then enjoy a sip of your canned soda. And everything is pretty cheap too. LOVE LOVE LOVE. So, I currently live in St.Louis but I have no problem making the drive to Grafton. I have even convinced friends to take the trek with me to get this amazing fish. The first time I came here was about 3 years ago. I was visiting and a friend brought me for lunch. When I finally moved from DC to STL, this was a spot that I ventured too often at first. I am not ashamed to say I would drive across state lines for fried fish. A few things to note: 1. Seating is available but it is outside. Keep that in mind in the fall and winter or rain. 2. Always bring cash. It's just better that way. I am not sure if they take credit cards but i know i once had to go to an ATM to get cash. Other than that, grab a friend and take the ferry, drive through some peaceful country roads and have some amazing fish. :) read more

Beasley Fish is by far the best! Don't let the size of the little fish stand deter you. Yes, there are fancier restaurants that serve fish but their fish isn't nearly as good as Beasley's. We love to drive up the River Road, taking in the beautiful sights of the bluffs and the river and then sit out on a picnic table enjoying our fish sandwiches, hush puppies, and potato salad at Beasley's. If you're on the river road, stop in and get yourself some fried fish. Not much more to it than that. This place is awesome, with fresh food and a great view of the river. Two problems. One: flies are evident. They will annoy you if you eat on the picnic tables, but that just kinda happens. Two: sometimes the river rises and blocks the road. We stopped here on a day trip tp Pere Marquette. The prices are great, be aware they ONLY accept cash. We had catfish and hush puppies and they were great. The breading on the catfish was fantastic! The wait was a bit long but not outrageous. The tartar sauce was predished in a cooler which was frustrating because ppl left it open to heat and flies despite signage and some people took ALOT of it which only left one for us . I got the Buffalo Fish. Nice sized piece. NEVER been a fan of hush puppies but their hush puppies are so delicious. The baked beans are very good as well. Our family drove up to Grafton for the day to sightsee and stopped at Beasley's for a late lunch. The wait for the fish was 30 minutes, but it was fairly busy, we didn't mind waiting for freshly fried fish. The catfish was perfectly fried, the breading perfectly seasoned. We also tried the buffalo, but I'm not as big a fan of that fish as I am catfish. The fries were seasoned nicely, and the coleslaw and a giant pickle were a great compliment to the fish and hot sauce. I use to love this place. However today we stopped in and granted it was almost 7pm, they could've turned us away and continued closing and we would've understood. Instead what we got was a 20 minute wait just for them to turn around and give our order to the customers who ordered before us. When we told them our order was wrong there was no apology nothing. All one of the staff members replied with was "Well registers closed nothing I can do." I then replied with "So you're not going to give our money back and the orders wrong?" The man had a nasty attitude the whole time while speaking to me and said he would throw the correct fish into the fryer but that it would be a twenty minute wait. People make mistakes and had the staff had a better attitude this whole ordeal wouldn't have been such a big deal. We decided to write the money and fish off and left.
