Upscale locally owned neighborhood specialty grocery store offering wine, cheese, coffee and gourmet food items. They have an extensive wine collection, including half bottle options. They also have a wide cheese selection in the back. The P'Tit Basque cheese (semi-soft) is divine! Love the strong flavor of it. Some other items you can find here: Fresh fish and meat, red lentils, tahini paste, chocolate, teas, coffee and tea accessories, local honey, free range local eggs ($5/dozen), beer, hard liquor, cigars, world's greatest chocolate cookies (according to the sign)... Great fish selection. Have also purchased steaks and some featured wines, enjoyed talking with the in house wine specialist John Nash..

Rude!!! The workers in this place are so rude and unhelpful. I had heard this about the place being only for locals-that isn't a joke.

The house-made bread was absolutely delicious and the perfect way to start the meal. The black truffle tagliolini and the shrimp were cooked to absolute perfection. Having recently traveled throughout Italy--including Sorrento, Capri, Sicily, Venice, and Rome--I was genuinely impressed by how authentic the flavors were. Every bite brought back memories of the incredible meals we enjoyed along the Italian coast. My compliments to the chef and the entire staff for delivering such a memorable experience. The ambiance is equally impressive, with a beautiful open-kitchen concept that lets you watch the culinary team in action, while the elegant bar area adds the perfect finishing touch. This is truly a restaurant worth visiting!

It felt a bit hectic, though understandable given the staffing. Once we were seated for dinner, the experience improved in terms of service. The waitstaff was attentive and checked in regularly, which we appreciated. As for the food, it was fine but ultimately underwhelming. The dishes lacked flavor and didn't stand out or make me excited to try something else on the menu. Unfortunately, dessert was also disappointing. Overall, while the food was okay, it didn't feel worth the price or compelling enough to return. In hindsight, I may have enjoyed something more casual--like a burger at the bar--just as much, if not more.

From what I can tell Salume operates the small deli at the back of the store from about 10am-2pm each day Parker's is open. They have special meats and cheeses that are turned into fantastic sandwiches that rival the best you can get in the St Louis area. Their Italian sausage is a favorite of mine and I almost always have some in the freezer. I like all their sandwiches but over the summer they were doing a BLT that has no peer. Besides the bacon from their butcher shop they also used thick slices of heirloom tomatoes that were ripe and full of flavor. That extra touch with tomatoes you normally have to grow on your own did it for me.

The sandwich I ordered was called the Speck (German for bacon) and was phenomenal and the combination of cured meats, specialty mustard, a bit of preserved lemon and melted Gouda cheese was a perfect combo and was as good as many sandwiches I've ate at in parts of Spain and Italy I've traveled to. It's not a huge sandwich but the portion was just right for me to have a nice lunch along with a bag of gourmet chips. I'm sure that I'll be coming back sooner rather than later so that I can try other great sandwiches at Salume Beddu for sure. One thing about this location that wasn't obvious is where to dine inside the store and so the counter service person steered me to their back dining room that was no frills as far as ambience but that's fine by me.

Order at the counter weather you are getting butcher items or ordering food from the menu. Don't forget to look in the cold cases for any number of items from eggs, bone broth, their delicious frozen biscuits, and many other items. Lots to choose from. I don't usually stray from my usual order of seasonal hash but I was eyeing a couple of new items I hadn't seen on the brunch menu before. A breakfast sandwich and hash browns. I was going back and forth and one of the employees encouraged me to go with something different. I asked if I could get it on a biscuit and would be sold. They checked and said yes, I was excited because I LOVE the biscuit. I decided to try the hash browns, too. You take a number and pick your seat, counter with stools line the windows to the outside as well as section that looks into the butcher cutting area. Food came out quickly and was thrilled at the hash browns, they looked so good. Shredded potatoes fried crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside - very good and I would definitely order them again. I am usually very picky about cheese, but I love pimento and the biscuit sandwich was amazing. So it came out as a split biscuit with the house ham and pimento spread, pepper jelly, arugula, heirloom tomato, and a fried egg. I cut the egg in half so I could take half home but it turned out to be nonsense as I couldn't stop eating the sandwich and finished the whole thing! Now I will have a hard decision next time I stop in! Staff is always great, super friendly, and always helpful answering any questions. Food is amazing!

As others have…read morementioned, they do over salt their prepared food fairly often but that's just the chef's palate. Everything's high-quality and poor value after accounting for the price. I stopped in to pick up a pork loin because I was around the corner, looking for ~3-4lbs of meat. They only had a 1 1/2 pound in the case (order taker weighed it to confirm before going to the back, which should've been my first warning) so I asked if they had any larger ones. They were nice enough to check and offer to cut one. That's where things went downhill. After waiting 5 or 10 minutes, my order taker came back out to ask how I wanted it prepped (bone or boneless, skin on or off). I said skin off and ambivalent on the bones. This was my mistake, leaving my fate to the hands of someone profit motivated. I walked out with just about a 3 pound bone in roast, which is maybe half a pound more meat than the one and a half pound I turned down - not enough for my guests and I. Had I gotten a roast closer to 4lbs, I would've been unhappy with the price but not enough to write a review. Additionally, they only charged a dollar less for bone in. At $15/lb, I effectively paid the price of their beef for the meat after accounting for the bone. I felt tricked. In hindsight, I should've just turned it down when I saw the price, but I was a bit too shocked to say anything. So I paid my bill and swore that I wouldn't be coming back for anything but (maybe) sausage or a snack again.
