I am shocked that I am giving a fish stand 5 Stars, but it was seriously that good. I ordered the Catfish Nuggets Dinner. It came with Hush Puppies and for my two sides, I chose Fries and Cole Slaw. The dinner also came with, a choice of bread (white, wheat or rye), sliced white onion and dill pickle chips. Fish Haven is a small blue trailer in a parking lot for Riverside Saloon. It's only open on Fridays and everything is done to order. While I waited for my order, I saw a sign saying you could buy their breading and that it was available in stores. Once I tasted it, I could see why you'd want to buy it. My nuggets had a nice crisp coating and the seasoning in the breading was full of flavor. The Hush Puppies had chopped jalapeños, which made them the best Hush Puppies I have ever had. The fries were seasoned and still had the skins on and that's a plus for me. My Cole Slaw was creamy and runny, but the had decent flavor. Other sides offered were, potato salad and baked beans. It's a trailer, so you order at a window and wait outside for your order to be complete. If you want to eat there, they do have two picnic tables to sit and eat. They make paying easy by accepting cash and card. The staff I dealt with was friendly This may be my go to for Friday fish all the way through Lent. Plus, I'm getting me some of their breading to use at home. I bet it will be great of pork chops. When: February 20, 2026 Why: Friday Fish Fry

It was a day of craving fried chicken, so off to FEFC for an inexpensive lunch. As I've said…read morebefore, my go to is the White Box. It contains, two side breast and one center breast. I always thought a chicken breast was a chicken breast. Until I started eating here at Fast Eddie's, I didn't know there was a difference. To be honest, I still really don't know the difference. The reason I don't know the difference is because I am too busy enjoying my crispy crunchy chicken. I like how their chicken is simply seasoned with salt and pepper. Also, it's never overly greasy. The outside is thin and crispy and the inside is moist, tender and hot. All boxes come with a side of crinkle fries. They're fried crisp and the crinkles catch the ketchup, making them a perfect side. There's no dining in. It is walk-up to a window and order your food to go. There's a variety of different daily specials, or you can order from the standard menu. My recent visit, I went with the Homestyle Meatloaf with a side of Green Beans and a second side of, Mashed Potatoes with Brown Gravy. Yum! Potatoes were roughly smashed with skins on, making it obvious that they were made from scratch. The green beans could have had some more black pepper, but that's on me. I'm a black pepper, junkie. It's my favorite spice. The ambiance is eclectic and the fresh cut flowers on the tables are a nice touch. I hate fake flowers on a dining table, it's tacky in my opinion. If you're craving a home cooked meal head on over to, Food A Fare. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Oh, I forgot to mention, the husband and wife team are super personable and friendly.

The service was horrible. Our server had an attitude, moved slow, and acted like serving us was a problem. The entire place felt unprofessional, unorganized, and not ready to serve anybody. We stopped in for carry out - ordered a breakfast wrap & 2 burgers (1 bbq and 1 Rt 66). It's fun inside, cute signs. Wait wasn't long at all! They had a sign in book & ofc the Route 66 stamp. What could improve / could have been better: Order accuracy: I received a breakfast bowl instead of wrap. One of the burgers was a bacon burger & neither matched what we ordered but they were decent burgers! Being retired, I am on a mission to experience all 66 businesses listed inside the Illinois 66 Passport. I'm experiencing the ones close to home first and then I'll work my way up to Chicago. Teri's use to be in the Route 66 Antique Mall, but now it's in downtown G City. The new location is spacious and has a minimalistic decor. There's plenty of vinyl records and Route 66 signs covering the walls. After looking the menu over, I opted for an early lunch over a late breakfast. Seeing a Jalapeño Burger on the menu, is what pushed me towards lunch. The burger came with a side of crinkle fries. The fries were extra crispy with a hot soft insides. The burger was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a smash or a thin prepackaged burger. When my burger was served, it was a thick hand pressed burger. It covered the entire bun and the Pepper Jack Cheese draped over the edges. The jalapeños were plentiful and paired well with the onions, too. I give the burger a solid A for presentation and flavor. Teri's and Granite City is not a short drive for me, but it was and is worth the drive. If you're in G. City and getting hangry, give Teri's a try.
