Stumbled upon this place accidentally and so glad I did! From the moment my friend and I walked in, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. From casually browsing turning into a full blown candle making experience, Devon led the way and did not lead us astray! Foxfire made made creating my own candle so easy and enjoyable from start to finish. Devon was incredibly helpful, friendly, and made the whole process feel special. There were so many amazing scents to choose from and blend together, it was so hard to narrow it down to just my favorite three or four! And how do you know which scents blend with which?! That's where Devon steps in and she crafts her special magic and helps us know how and why certain scents go together. I loved being able to create something completely personalized from my scent, to picking out the container, to creating a label and name for my candle - it was also personalized! The atmosphere was cozy, creative, inviting, and relaxing - the perfect spot for a fun outing or a girls' day (we ended up using this at my special birthday treat for my friend since her birthday was around the corner). My family and I have been coming here for special occasions for several years now. The staff are always incredibly friendly, warm, and helpful. And the amount of scents and products to choose from is plentiful! Everyone has enjoyed it from my Mom all the way down to my pre-teen and teen nephews. For my birthday last year I was gifted a similar experience at a competitor's establishment with several friends. Those same friends and I came here for my birthday this year and we unanimously agreed that Foxfire was a superior experience all the way around. We loved that you smell the scents in mini-candles (not by handling oils which transfer to your hands and get to a point where you're not sure what you're smelling), you can pick a body mist, or wax melts, or hand soap (not just a candle), and the way that the "Scent Stylists" assists you in narrowing down your choices and figuring out that perfect ratio of scents uniquely pleasing to you is super helpful. 5 Stars Might I say, the expectations were higher than expected! Elena was the bomb dot com--absolutely stellar service. There was another lady assisting us as well, and she brought the same top-tier energy. The atmosphere? Totally enjoyable. This was my first expo, and what an experience! Silly me, I went inside thinking it was a candle shop, and it is, but it's so much more. But, getting back to me waltzing in and stopping dead in my tracks. I saw the long beautiful chic counter and thought, "Oh no" this is a restaurant. So I'm trying to back out of there, trying to go unnoticed even though all eyes are on me, but the nice guy that works there hollas out, "Welcome in." Very fun activity for all ages. The customer service was wonderful and there are a lot of scents to choose from. You basically pick your favorites, then pick a candle container/size. Prices range from $22-$54, but this includes the whole experience. The people that work here help pick out a good combo of scents from your favorite list (1-4) and you get to mix the oils to your liking. It then goes in the container with the hot wax and they allow it to dry for 90 minutes. You can enjoy water or a drink while you make your candle. The candle can be picked up at a later date if you do not want to wait the 90 minutes. They do host private events outside of their regular business hours. I was surprised on a date to make a candle at Foxfire Candle Works. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted and given a small clipboard. We were then explained the process. We were to smell as many of the candles we wanted and write down all of the scents we liked. Picking 4 of our favorites at the end. We then had to pick what we wanted to make; candle, car diffuser, body products etc. I decided to make a candle, picking a square medium sized jar with two wicks and a wooden lid. They offer all different sizes, shapes and colors and my honey picked a car diffuser which came in different colors. When we were done we sat at the counter where the hostess went over the scents with us to make sure the 3 or 4 scents went well together. She then told us how to blend the products little by little until we got the scent we wanted. Since my honey picked the car diffuser, once he mixed his scents he was done. The candle took a little longer and needed time to set. ( This is the perfect time to have lunch or dinner at one of the nearby restaurants while you wait. If you would like a recommendation on where I went check out my other review.) I forgot how long it took to set but we were able to eat without rushing and come back and it was ready to go. The ladies at this establishment were so friendly and nice and made you feel welcomed. They explained the process so thoroughly and were even able to tell us what needed to be added to make the scents just right. I haven't burned the candle yet but when I do I will come back and add an update. I honestly think it will be perfect as it smells amazing. You can also choose how to take it home, whether as an essential oil, a candle, or a perfume. You can even design your own label and name it. The price was great for the experience and product you walk out with. While you're having fun, you can also enjoy some drinks that are available for purchase. I've always wanted to make my own scent & it came out bubbly just like me I brought my boyfriend, and he made his masculine wax smell, he loved it! I did not know that they did creams, soaps, and just so many options. I would definitely suggest you going on a date or maybe a little gal pal adventure. We were not 100% sure what to expect when we went in but Jennifer talked us through everything. My boyfriend isn't able to smell most things due to his job but Jennifer was able to help him figure out what does smell good with the scents that he could somewhat smell. Hailing from Maryland, i was visiting my sister in Houston and was treated to a girls day that included a visit to foxfire. As a candle and room spray lover, I was blown away by this beautiful welcoming family business. I created my own candle scent and spray and had a glass of champagne while doing so. I LOVE Foxfire! I like to bring a group of friends here for special occasions. Jennifer and her staff are so friendly and helpful! They have over 100 scents, so it can seem overwhelming to someone new to this. But they advise you to just smell each scent and write down the ones you like on the list they give you. It's a good idea to put a mark next to your very favorites. Then they will look at your list, let you know which ones work well together, and within each grouping which ones to go lightly on if they tend to overpower. If you have several that work well, they will color code. You might have Chai Tea + brown sugar + cranberry. Or baked bread + brown sugar + cinnamon. Or rain + jade + pine. Thousands of combinations! You can choose from a few different sizes of candles, or room spray, or diffusing oil, or candle melts. If you make an 8 Oz candle, allow an hour or so before returning to pick up your candle. A 12 Oz candle might take a couple hours. Grab some dinner in Vintage park. read more
