It has been a long time since the Fox Valley has seen a decent brick and mortar functioning small gun shop. I'd imagine it has a great deal to do with the stringent and over the top regulatory control by Appleton to discourage businesses (especially firearms related) from operating within the city. Moving on, I have been coming here for several years now. I mostly do transfers and have had some small gunsmithing done by them. Their hours are convenient and they have great experience with most all firearms. The most refreshing aspect of working with them is the lack of "gun store wisdom" or in other words, the owner/salesmen telling you what you should own and making up information about brands that he/she obviously doesn't like personally. If you go to a certain "other" chain store named after a goose in Appleton, you will get 3-5 different bloated chest "experts" telling you what you need and that the rest is junk. Anyway, Fox Valley Firearms happens to be a great place to deal with. Now please, understand that this is one of the only true small gun stores in Appleton and as such, they see a large amount of customers. Cut them some slack when you are getting work done or a firearm transfer if it doesn't happen within your immediate time table, I can only imagine how busy they are some days. Patience is a virtue. I have used several other FFL dealers for transfers over the years but I continue to frequent FVF because I know my gun is safe while in limbo and its basically right down the street from me.
