I just moved to the Grand Rapids area and caught a rock to the windshield of my Forester along the way. A replacement for these windshields cannot be resolved by a quick call to Safelite and it's a groanworthy pricetag to boot (if you know, you know). Thankfully Allix at Fox Subaru and Nicole at Clear Image Auto Glass teamed up to get my car back to looking good as new within a few days (scheduling etc). From drop off to communication about pick up I couldn't be happier with how I was treated. They even washed my car - which is typical for Subaru - but honestly, I didn't expect that today since I had a new windshield replaced. This was sort of a big deal to me because a clean, shiny car is my jam and it's been driving me crazy that I couldn't go detail it. I'm looking forward to working with the Fox Subaru crew for future service and Subaru stuff. Thanks y'all for a great experience! read more

Brought my 2005 Outback XT in for another blown turbo..... after Subaru replaced the first one under warranty! The second turbo lasted 14000 miles and failed, 2000 miles out of warranty? They told me 11.5k to replace the turbo and the bottom half of the motor! After doing research, a new factory motor and turbo can be bought for $6500!! When dealing with the service manager Dave.... he was clueless to what was going on with my car, and he even thought my car was already complete? And when i asked the service consultant Dave Moerland over the phone, what he would do if he was me...he suggested he'd hang the phone up and cry? WTF Some of the worst customer service i have ever experienced. Needless to say..... i had the car fixed for $1700 from another local Subaru mechanic and purchased another New 2012 Outback from the fine fellows in Lansing Subaru! Be careful..... Dave will blow smoke up your a@% AND RIPP YOU OFF!! Update.... I brought my new 2012 Outback into Delta to have something looked at that was under warranty. Dave Moerland freaked out, he spoke loudly in front of other customers about how he work here for 17 years and complained about how i left bad comments about him that were uncalled for! I was just being honest and wanted to share my experience with the world (yelp)!!! He said he didn't even want to service my Subaru... he was done with me and would have his Manager call me. I quietly left and called Subaru of America in their parking lot :) SOA kindly gave me Subaru Credit to spend at another dealership for being a loyal customer, Thank you Subaru! Update 2-25-15 The 2005 XT now has an additional 20k on the "Delta Bad" motor! I'd still rather drive an hour for Subaru service than head to Delta. Pretty sure all Service Advisors for Fox Motor Group works on commission. Delta gives "Subaru of America" a really bad name!! YELP..... read more

Dr Jeckle and Mr Hyde story. Horrible horrible sales experience, fantastic service department. Amazing they are part of the same business. Bought my Outback after waiting a long time for a new car. Sales staff ignored what I wanted and insisted it wasn't available, till after I had taken delivery of a half year model with a ton of bells and whistles. How is that something you can repair easily and drive into the ground. Wanted 8 grand more than the blue book difference to put it right and let me have a red car with a compass and plain trim instead of the fancy two tone job with a NAV system. THEY WOULD EARN ONE STAR EXCEPT SERVICE IS GREAT! The service department has gone above and beyond to answer questions. Explain the service schedule and even found me a tire when one blew out last New Year's Eve just before closing time. Kudos Dan Snow. read more

I recently took my car in here for the airbag recall, which was the second time in the past couple years I've brought it here, which I wouldn't have done if the recall didn't have to be done at a dealership. And both times, it was a disappointing experience, to put it mildly. The first time, I had them look at a very slow leak in one of my tires, which had been going on for months, despite having it looked at by two other shops, one of which having done a repair. They told me it appeared to be the TPMS sensor that was leaking, and so they replaced it, which cost ~$80. Not only did that not fix the leak, but both online research and a local tire shop (who I have used before and trust far more than this dealership) confirmed that it is NOT possible for the TPMS sensor to cause an air leak. So either these guys are incompetent, or they swindled me. Either way, not good. And when I checked the pressures later I found the tire they worked on was grossly overinflated (IIRC it was something like 38 when it should be ~32). So again, either incompetence (i.e., they can't even properly inflate a tire) or maybe they thought that way if it was still leaking (which maybe they knew it would, since, again, a TPMS sensor can NOT cause a leak), I wouldn't realize it because it would leak down to normal. Who knows. As for the recent airbag recall, I'm dissatisfied with that experience as well. First, when I started driving away after they were done, I discovered they adjusted my steering wheel. It's not a huge deal, but it's annoying having to readjust it, and often it's hard to get it to feel just right after doing so. But more importantly, I find it ridiculous they felt the need to do so just to drive the car the ~50 feet into the garage to work on it. I thought maybe it was because they had to pull apart the dash to replace the airbag, but I'm fairly certain they did it through the glove box, which would mean they didn't have to. One reason I think they did it that way is because they were done much quicker than the estimated time, which would be great if it weren't for the fact their expediency apparently caused them to do a lousy job. Which brings me to the second reason I'm confident they replaced the air bag through the glove box: when I opened the glove box before driving off, it FELL OUT onto the floor. They hadn't bothered to reattach the string with the loop that serves to control the speed it drops and stop it at a certain point. In other words, they didn't reassemble it correctly. And if they can't even manage something as simple as that, it makes me wonder about the quality of the work on the airbag inflator. Another thing I noticed is that there's a screw missing that holds the outside edge of the glove box (behind the panel between the dash and the door), so the entire glove box is loose, causing it to rattle. I currently have the dash trim, including that side panel, removed due to working on the car, but I'm almost certain that I never removed that screw. And I KNOW it didn't rattle before, which makes me 100% certain the screw was there when I took the car in. I don't know if it being partially dismantled made them think they could do a sloppy job and that I wouldn't notice, but needless to say I'm pretty pissed with this place after everything. So now I have to find a bolt and nut to put there to replace the one they failed to replace. And who knows what else they didn't reassemble correctly. I think the next time I have a safety recall I'll either wait until I'm near another dealership (not that I'm near this one; I live an hour away) or I'll just not bother getting it fixed, because I have absolutely ZERO confidence in this place. read more

Very frustrating and a complete waste of my time. I called months ago to schedule an appointment to get the valve spring recall fixed for my 2012 Impreza. I was told I would get a call back when there were appointments available but after about 2 months, I hadn't gotten a call. When I then called, I was able to schedule an appointment. The repair took two days, during which I was not allowed a loaner car, I was told, because I'm 21. While my car was there, I got a call saying that I needed new brake pads, but when I picked my car up, I was told my rotors desperately and pretty much immediately needed to be replaced. After they had done all the work and I had picked up my car, I got called and was asked to read my VIN number. I was then unbelievably informed that my car hadn't been recalled and all of this had been for absolutely nothing. Lastly, after I had picked up my car, it had begun making a clunking sound when I started and drove it and they also caused a problem with my driver's side window. I got my brakes checked at Veenstra's Garage and was completely assured both my pads and rotors are fine. Veenstra's also tightened two engine mounts which fixed the noise, but of course there's still a problem with my window. I love my Subaru, but as my grandma would say, I am certainly not "feeling the love" after this awful experience. read more

Took car in for express oil change. I was the only one in the bay when I arrived and after setting for 1.5 hours in their waiting, I finally had enough and went to see what was up. My car was not in the bay and I asked the woman doing all the paperwork out there where was my car, and she said she didn't know as she went to give another customer their car. So I asked another guy and he had no idea. 15 minutes later she came back and said she had other paperwork to get around and ignored me. She literally had no idea what happened to my car, she was clueless. So I went to a third guy Dave and he took the initiative to walk the lot and find my car setting in the lot, windows down and keys in it, for who knows how long. He said I was good to go, no paperwork, nothing. I don't even know if they changed the oil. So I sent a complaint into their website and a lady called me to try and sell me a new car. She said she worked for fox at another dealership, not even the Subaru place. Quality customer service. Update, I bumped it from one star to two, because of a call I received from Tiffany, who actually works at the Subaru dealer. She said they found my oil change paperwork on their shredder to be shredded. Not comforting really but she was honest I guess. And claimed the service manager was addressing this with the service department. I'll never know if they did, my trust level is low. I can't go any higher than that, cuz, well, they misplaced my car and left me setting there for an hour and a half for no reason with it unlocked, windows open in the lot. Update 2: two days later the service reminder for oil change, filter, and tire rotation went off on the display, so back to not being sure if they serviced the car at all. And the guy below said he wanted to know more and never contacted me after I emailed him my info. So back to a single star read more

Sales rep was great to work with but too bad for a major error on someone's part...Put a down-payment on a car to close the deal three days later. Found out two days later the car was a special order that never should've been on the lot! Not good and not much offered to make it right. Don't trust inventory list on their website. read more

Had my wife's 2011 Outback Sport brakes repaired (all four wheels) done at Fox Subaru. A week later noise and vibration started to come from the front left front wheel. Called and returned it for repair and were told that a brake pad shim was not installed properly. A week later, the problem returned. Took it back, and this time was told that it was a bent caliper guide pin. A day later the problem returned. This time we took it to an independent garage to see what was the real issue. The following problems wee found: run-out of about .0035" on the back of the rotor, the onboard brake pad shim was missing, and one caliper guide pin was not greased. We had both rotors replaced, new brake pads installed due to the missing shim, and proper workmanship assured. Cost: over $400 additional dollars. I contacted the service on this , and he appeared more concerned about his tech's performance not my concern about my wife's safety. As a result of this experience, all future maintenance or repairs will be made at somewhere other than Fox, and any future Subaru cars will bad at a different dealer. read more

Most importantly, Dion gave my mother, and I space to enjoy the car, the test drive, and to explore your product. I did not feel pressured, and I did not feel like I was being "handled." I felt like I was able to enjoy my experience trying out your Subaru Outback 2017 because of his confident demeanor and what seems like the strong ability to empathize. Dion was also able to expediently get me a loaner car until I was able to get the funds for my new car. He did not harass me for money nor did he call me every day harassing me about finalizing the deal. He did one follow up call to make sure the loaner was holding up and to get a time table ready so he could have all the paperwork in order. I go to school in Grand Rapids and have a leased Subaru from a Traverse City dealership. I went to this dealership because I wanted my lease is almost up and I wanted to get an idea of what Subaru I wanted next. When I walked in, I was not greeted at all. I walked around the cars that were inside and opened them up, sat inside of them, and took pictures. I was there for over ten minutes, and no one even said hello although people saw me and I was the only person in the dealership. I mean, I know I look like a college student and that I wasn't dressed up, but I could have potentially bought a car that day and that would have been someone's commission. Anyway, I finally went up and asked someone if they worked at the dealership and they said yes. I asked to look at some of the Subaru books and he brought me back one and left. I ended up walking into the office with the books on my own, picking up three of them and leaving. I will never go back to this dealership again even though it is close to me! UPDATE 10/7/15: I had forgotten that I had gone to this dealership in January and then gone on Yelp to give it a one star rating. I went to this dealership to get my oil changed. The men working there were super nice and then led me back to a waiting room that had coffee, water, and cookies while they worked on my car. It was a super fast process, probably only 10 minutes. Their prices are very reasonable. I had called another place to inquire about an oil change and they were going to charge me $80 for a synthetic oil change...um, not thanks! I had a coupon with me for my oil change as well (they have them on their website) and I had no issue using it. I will definitely go back to to get my oil changed in the future! I cannot say enough good things about Fox Subaru and my salesman, JP. I should point out that I live in Colorado but have family in Michigan. I was looking for a 3.6r limited to test drive and since it was close to the model year change, there were none to be found around me and the local dealers seemed to have no interest in assisting me in my search until the 2019's came out. Luckily, my brother in Grand Rapids suggested checking the inventory at Fox. When I called, I spoke with JP and was told they had one 2018 left. He was also able to locate 2 more within 120 miles that seemed to meet my original criteria better. I had some family go look at the car for me and JP met them, let them drive it, and took my information. Although I had not intended to get the color vehicle I did, after seeing the photos and hearing how nice it was, it became apparent this would work for me. I was driving my old Legacy back to Michigan and could drive the new one to Colorado, so JP made every single effort he could to provide me with a car I would love and also a deal that would work for me. His communication was OUTSTANDING and he never made me feel pressured or try to get me to accept a car I didn't really want. He had a genuine desire to get me the car I wanted at a price that would work. In the end, the offer was extremely fair and I ended up buying the last 2018 3.6r they had and driving it back to Colorado. My experience with Fox, again considering I never set foot in the door until I signed the papers and took delivery, was absolutely amazing. JP is a true professional who really takes care of his customers. The time and effort he took working with me to make this happen was amazing. He also spent a very generous amount of time with me going over all the features of the car and explaining how the infotainment system worked on the day I picked it up. From start to finish, this was by far the most pleasurable experience I have ever had buying a car. Fox Subaru is top notch and JP is one of the best sales experts you can find. He really is a walking Wikipedia of Subaru knowledge. I only wish Fox was closer to me so I could take my new Legacy there for service.
