Great spot for a before/after dinner cocktail with all the great restaurants in the area. Fox bar is located inside SOHO house, but you don't have to be a member to go. It's a really unique space located upstairs behind western style doors. It's a pretty small space, and it really seems to fill up around 10pm. Cocktails take some time to make since they all contain quite a few ingredients, but service is good, and the bartenders will get to you. We tried a drink with tequila and one with mezcal. The tequila one was excellent, like a carbonated margarita. The mezcal drink was good, but very tart from all the lime juice. I liked it, but probably wouldn't get it again. read more

A very cozy bar. Makes a very good hangout place with friends. We went in the very early hours of the evening and had no trouble finding seats on the first landing which has only the bar service. The ambiance is pretty with the stringed lights across the ceiling. Staff is very friendly and engaging. I came specifically for the Christmas decorations. If you follow them on IG, you would have seen Fox Bar totally decked out in Christmas decor, ceiling to floor. I met three other friends for drinks before our reservations at GATG. We arrived just as they opened (6pm) and were able to snag a table and had enough time for one drink before we had to head out. It's small and kinda tucked away. Seats about 30 people. Since we were celebrating the Christmas season, we stuck with the seasonal cocktails. They had 5 or 6 on the list, which included boozy egg nog and hot chocolate which you could probably have them make it boozy as well. I opted for the Clark Griswold's La-z-boy sipper--candy cane infused bourbon, Becherovka, cane sugar and angostura. Another fave of the table was Mrs Claus Neighborhood Watch--Cinnamon Mezcal, Cranberry cordial, Elderflower, lime and rosemary tincture. Fun drinks and even more fun to watch the bartenders work their craft cocktail magic. I'd love to visit again, even if it's not the Christmas season. Beer and wine list was nice. I love the private club feeling being upstairs and away from the first floor dining and bar. read more

I love this bar. It is small and intimate. It is tucked away above Soho house, behind the saloon doors. There is a small cocktail menu -- my bartender recommended a tequilla, fortified wine, and cinnamon cocktail. I was hesitant, but after trying it, wow! I was converted. The bar played great music (I'm a hipster at heart, what can I say?) and was more suited to have relaxing conversations rather than squeezed in like a can of sardines (looking at you Vertigo). I was here a week or so ago with a small group of friends. We waited a while to get to order drinks. Not a huge deal but when we let them know this (not in an obnoxious way or a way that drew attention) the response was shocking. A guy came over to our table and announced he was the owner (with a significant air of superiority) and instead of apologizing for the wait he accosted our entire group and scolded us to make us feel like school children. He asked us how many bars we ran and bragged about how he keeps his full every night with excellent service (which was becoming more contradictory as he continued berating us). He closed with saying sarcastically that we should have a good night and let us know if we needed anything--after doing all he could to ensure he killed any positive vibe we had going and he ruined our night. Please note I was sober for this interaction and we did not make any scene. He disregarded my attempt to clarify, explain, and deescalate. Instead he mansplained an event he wasn't even a witness to to me--when I was there. I previously enjoyed my visits here but I won't be back. The drinks are barely worth their $14 price tag let alone having to deal with this nonsense. read more

When you enter the saloon style swinging bar doors, you're greeted by a dimly lit room covered with polaroids and random memorabilia, most notably the famous stuffed fox about the bar. 5 of us went there on a Thursday night in December. The atmosphere was cozy and warm and almost felt exclusive since not everyone knows about the place. The DJ spinning vinyl was fabulous, mixing music that was interesting when you wanted to listen to it, but unobtrusive when you wanted to focus on your conversation. But it was really booming. You're going to have to talk loudly to be heard. The crowd was late 20's, early 30's hipsters. We were neither of those and felt slightly out of place, but the drinks were really good so we got over any initial self-consciousness. We ordered a margarita and daiquiri (strong but otherwise average tasting, daiquiri was on the recommendation of the bartender), the Please Be Seated (excellent if you like grapefruit. My husband is going to try to create this at home) and the Shannon Rose (the best drink at the table. Just the right mix of everything, so each flavor came through). We definitely enjoyed our night out and will take guests there again if we want them to think Chicago has these cool hideaway places that only we insiders know about and which serve awesome drinks. read more

Came here for a break from the summer heat while waiting for our table at Girl & the Goat. My sister and I loved the intimate feel. There were only a few people there, so we were able to discuss drink options with the bartender for a bit. After going back and forth between a couple of drinks, I decided on the Fortune & Haste since the bartender said it was his favorite. I was happy with my choice - it had just the right amount of ginger taste and though it looked tiny I left feeling great. :) My sister ordered the tea drink (I can't remember the long name! This is a fun almost hidden bar inside soho house. I went with a friend who had been here before otherwise I probably wouldn't have known it existed. The bar was pretty small, the crowd there for small too so it worked. This has a more intimate environment feeling to it. The dim candlelight and decor adds to the ambiance. They have a good collection of speciality cocktails. I got two drinks that night and enjoyed both of them. This is less of a "let's get hammered" bar and more of a "go here to enjoy a drink casually" type of bar. I enjoyed the vibe and would back back for a drink here again. Great location in the west loop, can't go wrong being close to Randolph street. Decent place for people watching too, hint hint. There's high five ramen across the street so I'd be a good combo to go there for dinner then mosey across the street for drinks afterwards. read more

The room is like being in your grandparents home with dim lights, corrugated dark wood walls, and mismatched furniture. But it's hip! There were two bartenders there. Go inside Soho House, turn right, find the stairs, and walk up. The bar will be straight on your left at the top of the stairs past the saloon doors. Atmosphere: small, cozy, really busy, loud. I'm sure the decor was v. charming, I imagine something like a mix of old English pub and library...but it was so dark I honestly couldn't see shit. Cocktails: $12 & good. I loved Fox Bar for years. I came in one night recently and was accosted by one of the owners, Ronnie. I waited 15 minutes to get a drink and decided to let them know. Ronnie seemed to take this as a personal insult, came over to my table and went off on me. I thought he was coming to apologize, but he came to pick a fight - he was nearly in my face screaming in an aggressive tone (it also appeared he had been drinking). I responded by saying I just wanted to give customer feedback but he had NONE of it. I've never felt so threatened by a bar/restaurant employee in my life. When he walked away, everyone at my table was shocked at what just happened. He is the reason why I will never spend another dollar here. read more

My cousin and I came here after The Aviary and Maude's on our pretentious drink tour. The place was pretty packed on a Friday night, but still were able to squeeze in at the bar and order drinks. Honestly, we were drunk at this point and without pics I can't remember what we ordered. I DO remember them being delicious and just leaving after one drink because it was packed.
