What a nice hidden gem found! I visited some friends in Union City on a nice day and we wanted to be out and have a few drinks. Luckily this place has outdoor seating because we came with a puppy! The staff were super friendly and recommended specials such as the happy hour we were able to catch. Definitely coming back here during a nice summer day!
Came back for another meal. And again had a brilliant time and great food. Love the outside seats that friendly dogs can eat at with you. So many times I'm walking Gus and have to pass on eating out due to no dogs allowed. But they are great I have a new spot for meals and a drink
Loved the decor, great service, and even better drinks. Happy Hour until 8 PM Mon to Fri - dont need to be at the bar for this. Only drink specials, nothing food related. I slept too long on this spot, but glad i finally made it over. overall, i liked it and am looking forward to coming back. The place itself is really cool to chill at and grab a drink with friends, or treat someone on a date. I had 2 drinks, and both were good. Priced at $12 on the happy hour, i was happy with them. First off, they were incredibly photogenic, and strong. i love a good pun, and Fox&Crow does too. I grabbed the "do you wanna funk" and the "just like honey". i hate whiskey, but i loved the just like honey drink so much. shared the onion rings, i liked how light and fluffy they were. usually onion rings are heavy as hell. not these. my complaint is the sauce. i dont think this BBQ sauce was the correct choice for them. Id like a type of chipotle ranch or sriracha mayo next time. i also grabbed the 2 for $10 tacos sounded like a good deal, but i wasnt too impressed with the tacos. my biggest complaint was the corn tortilla, they were raw. would have been nice if they were lightly toasted. tacos were overall small, not too packed. the chicken one was slightly better, but still felt like i could have had more chicken in here. the blackened tuna was cold. in fact it didnt feel blackened at all. it felt more like a cold ahi tuna steak that was very rare. this also was pretty skimp on filling. i left hungry. would i come back? Yes, id grab some drinks and enjoy a show. id be down to try the chicken sandwhich, because the tacos were not impressive at all.
What a vibe! I love the ambiance here, it's perfect for a date night! Their cocktails are very well made and strong! It's happy hour during the week until 8pm, $2 off cocktails. I would recommend getting a burger but it comes extremely undercooked. The onion rings were really tasty. They also have live music on Saturdays. Service was good too.
Very good! Stopped by as it's a quick walk from Hoboken. Service was so nice and food was good! We shared chicken sandwich and pulled pork nachos. They also have a few cocktail options that were very good. Portions were great to share and we would love to come back to try other things. Would recommend, thanks for a great brunch!
I first went to Fox & Crow for the first time a few years ago with some Jersey friends. I remember it being a cool, low key spot. I really dug the vibes and haven't been back til last night. I just did pick up this time. I actually forgot what the inside looked like, so it was cool to see it again. Nice, small, intimate setting with decent vibes and a bar. They had a nice crowd for a Wednesday night. It almost made me reconsider doing pick up and dining in instead. When I entered, the bartender saw me and asked if it were table for one. I told her I was there for pickup. She then asked my name. I told her, and she gave me my order. Super quick and convenient. I mean, it also helped to check Seemless to see when my order was ready. I ordered the spicy crow sandwich, which is also what I ordered a few years back. I'm just a sucker for a good chicken sandwich. This sandwich from Fox & Crow was interesting with a pickle celery relish, Chipotle Mayo and avocado. It came with hand cut fries which were pretty good. The chicken sandwich was nice and crispy, but lacked flavor. I feel the chicken breast itself could've benefited from salt. It was bland, but you betta believe I ate that whole thing. I added some salt of my own, but it's never the same as seasoning the chicken before you cook it. That was my only complaint about it. I'd try something else next time sure.
Very nice staff and great service. Everything on menu is amazing, especially the ribs and sandwiches for me. Good beer list, tunes/vibe and would highly recommend!
This place is cute and cozy. It's small but has a nice vibe. The food heat is really good. The avocado toast was filling and the poached eggs were a good amount of runny. The habanero wings weren't spicy but they were good. Staff was friendly and attentive. I'd come again to try their non breakfast items.
Didn't even know this place opened so you know I had to try the new spot. I ordered delivery so I can't comment on the aesthetic and vibe of the place. I ordered the burger which came with caramelized onions. It was good but needed cheese. The onions didnt give the burger enough flavor. It was undercooked for medium. Onion rings were very good though and you can tell then hand batter them and are homemade. The fries were too thick for my liking but freshly made. I don't like biting into a full potato when eating fries. We also ordered the beet salad and it had more lettuce than beets which is a pet peeve of mine. If its a beet salad make it about the beets! My wife ordered the Black bean burger and it was ok. It tasted grainy and needed more seasoning to make it work. I could tell they have passion for what they do. They could take shortcuts and not make their own onion rings or fries but they do it the right way. They do need to fix a couple things as mentioned above but it is a place worth checking out.
Recently got take out here..and I have to say that their chef does not understand what a medium rare burger is. Came here with my friend and I ordered the chicken sandwich, whereas she got the Cajun burger medium rare. The chicken sandwich tasted really good! Perfectly crunchy and the sauce was good. The only issue was the fact that the burger was too rare to consume, and the fries were a bit soggy.
I've received both delivery and dine in from this restaurant. Dining in we were greeted outside on a busy and chilly Friday night. There is not many indoor options for tables with stroller seating available but the server made accommodations rather quickly and got us seated. My fiancé and I enjoyed Arts nachos with added chicken and guac, and onion rings! They were so crispy and delicious. We filled up on apps so we split a cheeseburger which came with house cut steak fries- delicious. We also had beers. Great service! For deliveries I recommend the nachos and the burger or chicken sandwich- I have lived in DTJC and also Union City and ordered delivery from seamless, and each time the burger comes hot and the nachos stand up to delivery conditions. Thank you for the consistency!
Ordered the classic burger (topped with cheddar & grilled onions) for delivery. It was a substantial size and pretty tasty. Came with pickles and big, thick fries (the way I like 'em!) which I enjoyed. Overall a solid option.
The place is kind of small, but hey that's Jersey city for you. We had to eat outside. They were fairly crowded around 9:30pm. My friend ordered nachos and I hit the spicy crow (chicken sandwich). Sandwich was good, but wasn't really spicy. Friend enjoyed her nachos. I would come back and try some other items. Menu isn't too extensive.
(Dined 06/29/2024 SA @ 2:00pm): I was here for a weekend brunch, but if any foxes or crows joined in that would be cool! In my quest to explore the various cuisine scenes throughout Jersey City and specifically the Heights, I made my way to Fox And Crow. Like Corkscrew Bar, I've had this on my bookmark list since I started visiting my friend a few years ago when she moved out here. I always loved a neighborhood bar (sports in this case) that also served food (and live entertainment, too!) so I could hang out with the local people. Would I have anything to crow about, or would I be as sly as a fox and just sneak on by!? PURCHASE Brunch Spicy Bloody Mary ($8.00): I wasn't a huge bloody mary fan (I was traumatized by V8 tomato juice growing up), but it just sounded good on this particular day. It was a fairly simple straightforward cocktail that lacked the elaborate bells and whistles that could be found on Instagram... and I was fine with that. The spiciness nicely cut some of the tomato juice taste which was a plus, the celery stalk was lip, I wished thee wee oe olives, the lemon wedge seemed to serve no purpose, and I felt there was too much ice. It was decent, but I think I filled my quota for the year. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=YAXNZzbwBxhsZXoH9n98SA [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 3.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($7.00): A small basket with eight rings of various sizes, these were hot, darkly browned, crunchy, and had a tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (not sweet Maui) also broke apart. They were on the oily side, the ketchup helped a bit, and were decent at best. These reminded me of the ones I bought when I played Little League, so a bump for nostalgia. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=ZtV4C6Dp1NmjRMiz0J2fTQ Kane Brewing Co. Head High American IPA Beer 16floz Draft ($8.00): Bright hazy amber color, citrusy hoppy aroma, low body, citrusy hoppy flavor, smooth finish, and citrusy hoppy aftertaste. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=k_Q3KQCdsM349f7aDHU7EA FXC Brunch Burger w/Fries ($16.00): Made with a juice angus beef patty, thick-cut bacon slices, monterey jack cheese and a sunny-side up egg served between a toasted brioche bun, this was a two-handed mess as gooey yolk squirted out and dripped down your lip and chin. The side of crispy dark brown fries were nicely seasoned. I was done after this monstrosity. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=VTHNI0LbZCHveZBwk9FwmQ SERVICE I arrived an hour before their weekend brunch ended. I was quickly greeted by a friendly gentleman behind the bar and was immediately met by a nice woman with menus who allowed me to sit wherever. I easily placed my order as everything arrived perfectly spaced out. My server cleared away any empties, and I never felt rushed to leave once I paid. All was good - thanks! PARKING (Street; N/A this instance) This was an easy flat 20-minute walk from my friend's place. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of spots along the main drag of Palisade Ave. and all surrounding roads - 'nu said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A tidy interior layout with plenty of stools lining the long bar, a mix of stools at a center counter bar, a smattering of chairs/tables, and some lodge-like odds and ends displayed throughout. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=E3zSVvIdQqbZ61sTwwMnLA There was also a tiny sideway patio area. Decent natural lighting came through the front windows and doors while eclectic hung electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were a few TVs at the bar while music (and TV volume) played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=GiF86KQbCwXDGx40HMBBxQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Fox And Crow was a chilled neighborhood spot and would definitely return! It was laid back with some local beers on tap, happy hour, a tight brunch https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=VTvd9VP9ZsuPb7oX79EruQ menu, tasty food, reasonable prices, daily live entertainment, and the service was wonderful. And, I always loved supporting small businesses whenever possible. I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $42.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... Came here on a Sunday night to watch the game- small and unassuming on the outside but very cozy inside! Loved the decor! I got the cheese and veggie quesadilla and my fiance got the old blue burger with a side of the foxy fries. I also got the signature cocktail "love my way" which was excellent! Only reason not to give 5 stars is the limited menus and the fries were steak fries (which are massive) but some were slightly undercooked and not as crispy as we would have liked. Either way, worth coming here with friends or a date night! read more
I have been wanting to check out this bar as it is close to my home. I have walked past it a couple of times and have always seen people going in or dining in their outdoor dining area. I ate inside with my friend. We both had ciders and shared two appetizers. We ate cheese quesadillas and boneless bbq wings. Both appetizers were delicious. Great spot to grab a beer or to hang out with friends watching sports. The waiter was attentive to us and always made sure we were doing okay and if we needed anything else. 10/10 Jersey city heights recommendation read more

It's Freestyle Fridaaaaaaaaaaaaaay So every review I do, I lyrically convey Went to Fox and Crow on a Saturday morning at Eleven Saw their brunch menu and figured I earned a trip to Heaven I ordered the F&C Brunch Burger, came with a side of fries When it came, I couldn't believe what I saw before my eyes An angel must have dropped their lunchbox from the sky Billion dollar lottery and I won the prize Fried egg, bacon and cheddar Pickles and chipotle mayo made it even better I felt like my tongue was wearing a sweater My grandmas daughter raised a boy who was clever So I had a mimosa on the side like a Beretta Girlfriend shared her French Toast like a chain letter Banana brulee? Never seen that before. Trendsetter. I'll be back like the Terminator Miss this and you're trippin' like a circuit breaker read more

During this quarantine, thinking of the time Fox & Crow served perfect burgers, strong cocktails with a friendly service and STELLAR music. This bar is a valuable addition to the Jersey City heights neighborhood with its amazing selection of drinks and varied music scene. I always go for the delicious burgers but my friend once ordered the Mariner salad with seared tuna and that was great too! Can't wait to visit the JC jewel again. read more
By now it is apparent to me I definitely have a love hate relationship with Fox and Crow. There have been a few recent new arrivals to the Heights since Fox and Crow opened in 2015, so I may have a little more perspective on new bars/restaurants in the neighborhhod at this point. I like Fox and Crow as a restaurant. I find their food to be expensive, but the portions are large and the quality is consistently excellent. I also like that they now have brunch and have added a few new items to their regular menu. I dislike Fox and Crow as a bar. The cocktails are hit and miss and while the beer selection is to my taste, it's pricey. Happy hour is from 5-7 during which time you save $1 off of mixed drinks and cocktails. An entire dollar. I love Fox and Crow as a music venue. They do a really good job booking talented musicians and having the option to lazily step out on a Friday or Saturday and see live music is a game changer for me. I was mistaken in my last review; there is no cover but I recommend making sure you have some cash on hand for when the band passes around their hat for donations at the end of the night. read more

I've come here a few times now and I've always been really satisfied. First off, their wings are bomb. Those are my favorite. I turn into an absolute disgusting pig when I eat them. Everything I've had is really tasty, including the pork sliders and spicy chicken sandwich. The atmosphere and decor is awesome, and they're always playing good music. Not to mention they have live performances which is awesome. Lastly, the staff is always super insanely friendly. read more
Owww Owww Fox and Crowe, I like you as a new addition to the JC heights, I like you a lot. This cozy and dimly lit spot is just what the area needed. It's got a hip and effortlessly cool vibe yet still manages to fly under the radar and has an aura of exclusivity. Only a matter of time until this place blows up and becomes a local fixture. They've got a really diverse selection of tap brews and I ended up going with a Carton Brew 077XX. The menu mainly features various burger selections, but if you don't fancy meat there are other between-the-bread options like crab cakes and a black bean burger. I went with the classic cheeseburger. No thrills, no frills- just meat, cheddar and caramelized onions. Exactly what I was craving- nailed it. The BF sprung for the black bean burger with avocado, a bit out of character for him to take the veggie route, but he ended up finding a new fave. Both of our burgers came with a side of fresh cut fries. They were thick, crispy and salted to perfection. A tad oily for a 10 pm dinner, but hunger was calling. Food was decent, but there wasn't much to choose from. Burgers at 14 dollars a pop or a beet salad are the only moves you can make here. Next time I'll probably eat elsewhere and head to F&C after for a late night libation. read more
Went for Dinner Food - 2/5. Shredded pork was decent but would have been nicer if it was more tender. The salsa verde didn't have much flavor and you could taste the onions and cilantro more than the sauce itself. The searing on the blackened tuna was too light and the salsa tasted like the straight ingredients themselves and not a coherent sauce. Wasabi sauce was barely apparent and you couldn't really taste any of the expected zing. Service - 4/5. Friendly and fast. Value - 1/5. At 2 for $10 I expected some fat tacos but the ones that were presented were overly regular sized. Overly regular is how the flavors were as well; the description made them sound delicious but the actual food was very average and unmemorable. The price was too high for these tacos. Easily the dopest bar in the Heights, even so that the folks from Hoboken trek up here to kick it as well. We've moved a couple towns over and still manage to find our way here. Service and is always pretty prime even when they're packed. Everyone is very attentive without being all up on us. The bartender even remembers us/our drinks comes and by and says hi when when grab a table. You can't go wrong with any dish on the menu, the Nachos or the Wings here are always in my starting lineup. The spicy crow is OFF THE HOOK!!! My only beef is that they don't have ranch and with fries that thick some ranch would do the body just right. Also, they've overcooked my burger on more than a couple occasions but the kicker is when they get the temp right (med rare), it's the best burger on JC/Hoboken. On the bright side i've discovered how BANGIN' the ribs are!!! In conclusion (yeah we still do that) With a happy hour that runs till 8pm, bartenders that make GREAT drinks, and a fantastic menu, Fox and Crow is a versatile spot for quick beer or a night out with your Amigos. read more

Excellent service. Fun atmosphere. Flavorful food. Creative cocktails! Thank you to Melissa, Ryan and Sara Grace for the helpful local tips, being friendly and welcoming me to the neighborhood. I started my evening on the front patio with Purple Rain and a Cajun Spiced Burger. The drink was refreshing and a vibrant shade of purple. The burger was full of flavor and I enjoyed the fresh cut French fries. My only recommendation to the chef is that the crispy onion rings on the burger tasted old and cold. I love onion rings and so that was the first thing I tasted. I'm glad I looked beyond that one flaw because everything else was good. I discovered there would be LIVE music in their back parlour starting at 10pm and decided to stick around. That was a great decision! Strange Majik had a great vibe and the additional drinks I enjoyed were prepared perfectly! I'll be coming back soon! Thanks again to the staff here who welcomed me as the new kid on the block. read more

A great atmosphere and pretty good food. But each visit can be a bit of a crapshoot depending on the staff. Sometimes the waiters and bartenders are understaffed and can take forever, other times they can be indifferent, but I've rarely had an order arrive within a reasonable amount of time. It's a fairly limited menu (by design, burger focused) so I don't understand how it can consistently take 20-30 for food to be prepared. If they could sort out their service and food prep issues this could be a great place. If not for how close it is to my home, I'd stop giving it changes altogether. read more
