I absolutely love this store. I'm obsessed with giving people cards for any occasion I can think of. I know, kind of lame. BUT! This store has the best collection of unique and quirky cards. Any time I need a card, I hurry to the shop and spend much too long looking at all their awesome wares. Everyone is also really helpful and nice when you go in. Not too pushy but helpful when you need it! read more

Hidden neighborhood secret. Great for unique and eclectic mix of gifts, cards, stationary and more. I always enjoy perusing the store and, of course, it's my 'go-to' for fun (and a little expensive) Chicago-centric gifts. read more

Stumbled upon this place while in Andersonville. So cute! Love all the accessories... from cute ceramic vases, to crystals, metal pins, and super cute jewelry... and they sell vintage frames and do custom framing. The prices are also on point. Nice little gift shop! Good job guys! read more

This is a framing shop and gallery. I can't comment on their framing work, though they certainly have all the equipment necessary to do the job and do it well. But I love their artwork. They seem to specialize in quirky and unusual work: found objects, collage, Joseph Cornell style boxes. Since the artists are relatively unknown, the work is relatively inexpensive (some of it under $200), so you can get some really cool stuff without breaking your budget. And when the artist breaks out, you'll be ahead of the curve! Foursided also has a nice collection of cards and small gifty type things. It's a very cool, quirky (there's that word again!) store, and well worth a visit. read more

I showed up before closing time, and was asked if I would come back another day because it was too close to closing time. I did my time in retail, and I know that the day isn't actually done when the clock strikes 7. In retail if your door is unlocked you accept customers, and when its closing time you lock the door and finish up with the customers you still have. If this store is doing well enough to turn customers off then kudos! I for one will happily find a different store to patronize who will hopefully respect the fact that I drove nearly an hour trying to get here by your posted closing time. Whats really funny though, is that I didn't expect you to do the work today, and if you had spent those 5 minutes giving me some kind of idea of what your framing products were like and what you thought would work for my needs I would have probably been thrilled. read more

I frequent this store every weekend if I am in town and don't have plans. There is always something new and interesting to be found! I buy 95+% of my frames from them. I love the vintage selection they carry as well as the simple new modern designs. Perfect place for gift giving for myself, friends and family. You can always count on the owners/staff/management to be friendly and helpful! FourSided is a must for any visitors to Chicago to pick up a fun souvenir as they also carry a cute collection of Chicago related items! Be sure to check them out! And often! read more

I hit up Four Sided during the Andersonville sales this past August and was wowed by how much selection that they have, both sale and non-sale items. The store is unique with both kitschy knick knacks and vintage pieces hand selected from vintage market fairs or hand crafted as a work of art. They have personalized framing, candles, picture frames, art deco for the walls, and lots of vintage globes, signs, and jars. I picked up a vintage steamer suitcase, old globe, a couple candles, and cigar boxes during the sale weekend. It is a perfect place to go to in order to accessorize your space, or for gift ideas. Love it!! read more

Best card selection I've seen in a long time, I spent an hour browsing and laughing until my back hurt. Go and stock up for every occasion!

I love this place, it is full of knick-knacks, home decor, stationary and cards, decorations, all sorts of stuff that you dont' really NEED, but definitely WANT for your place. I've spent way too much time (and money) picking up fun gifts, cards to accompany said gifts, candles and small pieces of decor for my apartment here in the last year or so. Will continue to pop in whenever I'm in the area. read more

I really love this store unfortunately I will not be returning. I bought a novelty coffee mug which was then wrapped and placed in a small bag. Upon walking home my bag broke at the seams allowing my mug to break on the concrete. I walked all the way back (about a mile) to exchange it for another one (seeing as how I had a faulty bag). The manager refused to make an exchange but offered $4 (25%) off another one if I would like to purchase it. Absolutely disappointed. read more

This store is magnificent! Full of bright colors objects and lots of interesting things to look at. As I was browsing around the store a young gentleman with long hair approached and asked if I was doing alright, I asked him about the love States he then helped me make a choice and helped get it done ever so quickly I continued to look around as I kept getting side tracked by the interesting yet intricate displays around every corner. I was pleased by the help and care of the staff ( as well as the time he spent with me while I got to be a wee bit creative ) very cool store ! A+++ for the staff help read more

First off, this is a very cute shop. Lots of unique items (I especially love their selection of greeting cards). That said, their customer service is horrendous. Employees never crack a smile and generally appear unhappy if not surly. My recent experience with their framing services has left me not wanting to give them ANY kind of business anymore. Their prices are exorbitant and their attitude is downright unfriendly and condescending. We asked for framing help, and the woman there seemed to size us up and say that someone else would be helping us. Oookay. So then this guy arrives, and he has no artistic eye. None. We basically have to give him direction from the hundreds of frame options available. When he pulled down frames he thought would work, they just didn't match the style of the art. Sure, this kind of thing is subjective, and we would have cut him some slack (even though he barely helped us and was clearly new at this) if it weren't for his attitude. The "I'm too cool for you" and "You're not worth my time" vibe just doesn't mesh with, oh, say, the field of customer service. We've been in there for framing help one other time, and while that guy knew a lot about color and style, we still left with a bad taste in our mouths. This place just doesn't have a crew you can communicate with, which makes conveying your framing needs difficult. read more

Foursided has an excellent collection/selection of letterpress cards and scented candles. I had an issue with some framing work I had done here (matting rippled on 2 of 4 prints apparently due to ambient moisture), but they are repairing the pieces. Overall a positive experience. read more

Very nice staff - helped me pick a frame that is 30 times the cost of the picture. But it looks excellent now. I love the velcro wall display. read more

A really cute and charming store that is so fun to wander around in. Tons of amazing and unique stationery...I love buying all my birthday cards here and they're always a hit. Lots of little knick knacks and things that are unique, gorgeous, and just witty enough. A great place to stop by if you're looking for a gift for yourself or someone else. read more

FourSided was SO accommodating about framing a wedding invitation/pic of the bride + groom for my sister's birthday present. I saw the finished project initially and had some adjustments to give, and they were more than willing to look at it/fix it without a second thought. I appreciated that because this was a special gift and framing can be expensive! I can't remember all the various people I spoke to over the course of the project but initially I chose the frame/matting with Jade and she was very helpful. Thank you, FourSided! read more

This shop along with its sister stores in Lakeview is one of my favorite places to by unique and thoughtful gifts. They have an ever changing selection of all sorts of knicknacks, frames and cards. Think pretty antiques and shabby chic. I will usually buy some of their pretty papers to use as wrapping. The papers are a little pricey but I feel like the packaging makes the gift so it's worth it. It's true that some items here are expensive but I think some of it is very reasonably priced and non of it is outrageous. I bought a ceramic bird here today for just $6. read more

I love and miss this place soooo much!!!!! I used to live in Lakeview and this was my go to spot for last minute gifts. They always have the coolest things. Their cards are funny and they always have the best prints. I recently broke a Christmas Tree ornament, after insisting on paying for it, the store keeper refused. I recommend this place for anybody shopping for a female loved one! read more

Foursided is *the* destination for framing and creative/unique stationary and gifts. I got an estimate on a frame I need for a very oddly-shaped poster and very helpful feedback on pricing, finishes, and offered to frame the piece for me if I were to bring it in. They have an extensive collection of Rifle Paper Co stationary, posters and small goods that I absolutely adore as well as Chicago-inspired giftables (mugs, magnets, jewelry, etc). Most of the candles they carry are small batch, handmade and smell amazing! read more

I would give this store four stars based on their very unique merchandise and selection. Very impressive items for the home at mostly fair prices. The reason for a three-star rating is the fact that I have been in twice and the employees give no eye contact or even offer a helpful "hello" to anyone in the store. While this is nice compared to high-pressure sales people, a nice gesture of "hello" or "welcome" would be great. The energy of the employees and manager seems to be a little off. No one was rude, by any means, just seemed that a little more friendly energy would go a long way. read more

I've stumbled in this place twice. It's got a really nice vibe when you walk in. Franz Ferdinand is playing and there are Scrabble letters littered on every corner table you can spot. Since I don't have any nice paintings to frame, I ignored the front of the store and walked to the back. Passing the knick knacks of every card imaginable and pins, I found the greeting cards. Every single greeting card is adorable and a hoot. I probably looked at every single one (every occasion) at least once. But when I turned over the card, the price turned me off. Still, I couldn't resist picking out a birthday card for my mom and walking up to the counter. The employees from the start had been strange. They kept eyeing me an smiling, but not saying anything. So I expected to be waited on right away. Wrong. They were moving a table and said they would be with me in a few minutes. Several minutes later, the girl comes over and informs me that my $4 card cannot be paid with a credit card due to the minimum card amount. I understand this policy completely, but what was next makes me re-consider purchasing anything there. She then told me I should buy something else, possibly an overpriced pin at $1.25 or a flashcard for "varying prices starting at 60 cents" to bring my total over $5. Look, I'm not a walking money tree. Paying four bucks for a birthday card is outrageous in the first place, and I thought I would give this place business, but not after being pressured to buy something I don't even want. I left and I don't know if I'll be back. read more

Foursided is definitely a unique gem in the arena of home decor and framing. What I love about Foursided, aside from the craftsmanship, is the huge selection of custom frames. I've always received really friendly and especially helpful service from the staff. Whenever I've had a question about framing options, I've received excellent framing consultation. The only downside is that it is pricey, but what do you expect from a top-notch framing store with every imaginable frame option you could possibly ever want? There's no other place that I'd rather go for my framing. read more

Foursided has been a great addition to the neighborhood. We go there for unique cards and they also carry a decent amount of Chicago memorabilia. We have also utilized them for framing and their cost are on point with other framing shops around. Some of the cards are on the pricier side but then again these are not your usual .99 cards found at Jewel or Walgreens. read more

I stopped on Andersonville's Dessert Crawl. What a fun place! They had some great pieces of art or should I say framed found pieces. I was pulled in by their great selection of cards and gifts. I will definitely be back soon for some cards. I'll update my review when I have a piece framed. read more

I haven't utilized their framing services, so I can't comment on that feature of this fantastic store, but I can gush about their selection of tchotchkes. I have often coveted their home decor items - ceramic birds, maps, photo blocks of Chicago landmarks, telegraphs - that are alas too expensive, but have given me inspiration for my apartment. Among the random odds and ends (Scrabble tiles, alphabet blocks, figurines) you'll find a wide selection of cheeky, adorable cards to suit any occasion. If you too are resisting the depersonalization of communication, and find cards to be as pleasant a surprise as I, get yourself to Foursided stat! read more

While they have a great selection of unique and fun things, I typically end up not buying because they're too expensive. However, I would gladly pay higher prices in either of their local, lovely stores if customer service was good but it's just not. For years, I rarely get as much as a "hello" upon entering. I always feel invisible as they run around doing things they deem more important than realizing they have customers who are being ignored. It would be nice to feel appreciated but I go in less and less when I feel like I'm just in their way. read more

Foursided (and Twosided) are the best card shops in Chicago. They have a wide variety of cards from many sellers across the country. In addition to their amazing cards and prints, they also have a bunch of random things that you can use to decorate your place. It is hard to describe until you go and see for yourself but I can assure you that you will love it and not walk out empty handed. read more

I love this place!!! The best birthday/anytime cards ever. Creative, funny and tastefully filthy ...This place is stupid cute.

If I had unlimited funds, I would buy everything in this store. There's always something new, and Foursided mixes vintage and new items. The cards they sell are beautiful, funny, and unique, at prices that aren't outrageous. The staff have been friendly every time I've gone in. I haven't had anything framed by them, so I can't comment on that, but the framed items that are in the store are beautifully done. Every inch of the space is filled with interesting items, so really take the time to look around. read more

I found this place when I lived in Chi-town and since I have moved it is always on my MUST GO TO list when I am in Chicago. There is never a lack of inspiration at either location. The stores are of decent size and full of fun, quirky, and original design concepts/ideas, products, etc., etc., And the featured products/design seem to change on a fairly regular basis, so there is typically something new and different every time I go there; which is refreshing. The owners and/or buyers have a keen eye for design that is current, eclectic, refined and smart. This is my go-to place for original, non-cookie cutter gifts, cards, as well as for inspiration for those extra special touches to my own interior design work and artwork. While I have not had the pleasure of having anything framed there, I have seen the work that they do, first hand, and it is of high quality. They frame for several artists in Chicago. The only down side, for me, is that some items are a little pricey, depending on what you are seeking. There were things there I would have purchased if the price was right for my budget. (Perhaps I just have expensive taste =p ) I have never tried to barter or "haggle" on prices, so I am not certain if they are flexible on this or not. That is something to take up with the owner(s), not the general staff who are usually there. When in Lakeview or Andersonville, Check this place out!! **The store in Andersonville (on Clark) is my fav. between the two. Both locations carry the same vein of design and products, but do vary from one another, so see them both!** Due to not (personally) utilizing all of their services/products, i.e. framing, I gave them 4 stars but have no doubt that this is Five-Star establishment. An online store would be great too. (Hint*Hint*) read more

I've been to a lot of independent card stores and this one has the best selection! Note: much like me, their buyer prefers off-color humor. If you're looking for sappy cards, stick to Walmart. If you're looking for creative/hilarious cards, it's a one-stop shop! read more

Excellent frame work at this place. I Have had 4 items framed here and each one was more exquisite than I expected. The people working here do a really good job of matching styles. A plus is all the interesting and one of a kind items for sale in this shop. 4 stars because even though their items and services are great, they are a tad pricey. read more

Great artwork and fun shop but rude staff. Went in to shop for prints and When asking staff about negotiating on two pieces of art staff ridiculed me and laughed that I would ask for a discount when the sale ended the day before. All they had to do was say no we cannot extend the sale, but the approach taken to answering question was Condescending and insulting. As a result I left the two pieces of art totaling over 200$ behind. I had planned to purchase them regardless of the sale being honored but after speaking with staff no longer want to support this business and will shop elsewhere for my art needs. read more

I have somewhat of a rather large art collection (over 100 pieces) and had tried a handful of framing places since I first started collecting in the mid-90's. I found this place maybe 5-10 years ago and have not had a reason to go anywhere else. Todd has a great eye for choosing the perfect frame for any piece of art. They have a wide selection of frames to suit just about any-ones taste and they provide excellent service . They also have the best selection of cards in the area since Paper Trails in Andersonville closed.. read more

Received our frame today and cannot be more happy with it. The price of custom made frames is never cheap but we got a good deal at this place and like the results. I love the store in general, i would like to own everything here. read more

We discovered Foursided this weekend when nearby at Chicago Ballet Arts and needing to run errands like framing nicely a small Polaroid of me, my dad and my grandfather from... a long time ago. Tom did a fast, efficient job picking out the right solution and putting it together. The price was reasonable. While we waited it was fun for my 10-year-old and I to browse all the fun things around the store like wall decor, office knick knacks, pins, magnets, notebooks and other fun things. Major themes you'll notice: Chicago neighborhoods, geography home and away, foreign and domestic, kitschy and rhymes-with-witchy, mostly humorous and always thoughtful. If retain could be well-curated, this would be it. read more

I have had numerous items framed at this location and every time the framing is top-knotch. Yes, you may pay a little more than you would if you went to another frame shop, but the patience, time, consideration and workmanship you receive is absolutely worth the price you pay. The people who work at the shop are delightful and are so creative. When you aren't sure what to do with a flash card or a block with letters or shapes on it, they always have a really unique idea as to what can be done with it. The cards are also some of my favorites. No offense to Paper Trail (RIP), but the cards here are more my 'humor.' I love this store and frequent it on a regular basis. read more

This place is awesome! I'd bet good money that you could buy a great gift for everyone in your life at this store. There is literally something for everyone. It goes way beyond typical scented candles and cards (though they have an EXCELLENT assortment of both) that typical gift stores have. The items range from meaningful to quirky and the prices are fair. A neighborhood fave. read more

A very unique shop! Great for cards, knickknacks, and the best holiday decorations. This place is pretty great...it's a little dangerous for me now that I live a block away.
