Whenever my energy feels off, I'll go in for a limpia (usually a couple times a year), and I always leave feeling lighter and more grounded. Victoria has read my palm before, and it was honestly so insightful and helpful. It gave me clarity and reassurance when I really needed it. She's incredibly patient, she listens, and she takes the time to explain things in a way that actually makes sense. No matter what question I come in with, she's always able to guide me or give me an answer that brings peace of mind. About a month ago was the first time I ever bought one of her baños, and the experience honestly blew me away. I usually do my own cleanses on my own, so I didn't know what to expect but after doing the New Year's Eve baño and completing the ritual, I felt such a strong and positive energy shift. It was incredible. Within an hour or two of doing the first part, it genuinely felt like something lifted off my spirit and something within me shifted in the best way. It was instant, grounding, and deeply healing. She also makes candles for just about any occasion, which is such a thoughtful and comforting touch. Her products are amazing, and you can really feel the intention behind everything she offers. The shop is run by Victoria and her grandson, and it's always such a joy walking in and seeing them both. They're both so welcoming, knowledgeable, and kind. It truly feels like a blessing to have someone with a real spiritual gift who uses it to help others. This is hands down my favorite spiritual place, and I'm so grateful to have found it.

I was on my way to Alchemy Arts and was crossing the busy intersection at Broadway when I saw a…read moreblack cat very close to the road, so I pulled over to try and move her to a safer spot. I noticed the cat did not have a collar on and decided to quickly take her to the nearest vet to get scanned for a chip. Luckily, the cat did have a chip and the owner was notified. The vet told me the owner did not seem concerned and said the cat was an outdoor cat, but that they would come pick her up from the office. I was told I had to stay with the cat until the owner arrived. I waited at the vet's office for over an hour with the cat, and the owner arrived just minutes before the office closed. I explained to the owner that the cat was in the intersection and at risk of being hit, so I thought it was the right thing to do to get her scanned for a chip and try to contact the owner. The owner immediately became defensive and said, "Well she's an outdoor cat. She goes by the trees." I again explained that she was not by the trees, but instead right next to the intersection and at risk of being hurt or killed. The owner rolled her eyes at me and left with her cat. I later realized that the owner of this cat is one of the owners of Alchemy Arts, her name is Dayna. It's incredibly irresponsible to let your cat roam freely outside next to such a busy intersection. After further digging, it also appears that Marie the cat was attacked by a dog while roaming outside in 2025 and has gone missing for days before -- further evidence that this cat should not be outdoors for her own safety.

I asked one of the brothers behind the cash is they had any titles on Geomancy, Gnosticism and ley lines and he directed me to a small section of their entire wall of books. The fact that they EVEN have titles in the first place on such arcane topics such as Gnosticism, Geomancy and ley lines told me right off this wasn't some run-of-the-mill occult shop filled with hokey Llewyn and Hay House titles . Prices are comparable to everywhere else these days. I wanted to buy a few sage sticks but when I asked if they had small bags I could put them in so they don't break up and get into the rest of my luggage, they unfortunately couldn't offer any which meant I couldn't purchase them and take back to Montreal. That was the only hiccup but otherwise, I'd have no problem making a pit stop here anytime I'm in Chicago.

Malliway has enough room for a wheelchair to maneuver, which is a big plus. The shop has amazing vibes, relaxed lighting and ambiance, incredible selection (and not all Llewellyn either), fun little free and cheap magical activities (I made a tiny charm bottle! and rubbed a horses skull for luck!), and the owners clearly have excellent taste. I did get to meet one of the brothers the last time we were there, and he was so delightful to talk to - knowledgeable, friendly, and eccentric dress in the best possible way. I bought a book written by the other brother, a book on a topic I'd been wanting to learn more about for a long time. Even if you just have a few bucks, it's worth stopping by for the mood, and you'll definitely want to come back later when you can engage with more funds. They also offer cute gift certificates, and you get a tiny luck gift stone with purchases. My new favorite Chicago store, I hope to visit often.
