This afternoon I was gift shopping for my aunt and uncle, so I stopped in to see if there was anything they'd like. The merchandise was okay, but the customer service was horrible. There were three employees in the shop, and I was the only customer. I was not greeted when I came in. Nobody offered me assistance while I browsed. They just chatted among themselves. I saw some things that I would have bought, but I was so annoyed that I decided to leave. I thought that if I left, they might at least say "Thank you for stopping in" or something. Nope. I can't believe that I looked around this store for several minutes and not one of the three employees said a word to me. I see from other reviews here that this is typical behavior. Sad. And very out of character with the area. I went to three other shops in Andersonville after this experience and every time I was greeted, offered assistance, and was told to have a nice day on my way out the door. The poor customer service here is not representative at all of what Andersonville has to offer. I will not be returning to this store. read more

A hipster hoarder's dream! This place is knick-knack central! We loved it. Located in the heart of Andersonville, this is far more than a frame shop. They have so many cool, eclectic prints, knick-knacks, and money wasters all over the damn place. I loved it. We bought things we didn't know we needed but related to. ha. Love this place, def check it out. read more

If you're looking for anything Chi-town related to hang on the wall or set on a shelf, look no further. A mind-boggling assortment of art, books, cards, candles, magnets, you name it, Foursided has it all. I stood in the doorway for a long moment just to get my bearings and decide what to look at first. And the employees are smart and friendly, too. I will be back to buy some fun art for our Chicago apartment, but I'll have to bring my boyfriend to help me pick from the selection, because there's just so much to choose from! read more

Foursided - So many things to look at! - Framing Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This store has fun and unique gifts that are hard to find anywhere else. It is always perfectly merchandised as well. I would give it more stars, but the customer service is sub par every time I go. Especially today... I was one of 2 customers in the store and there were 2 women working. I never even got a "hello". Instead one was just straightening things up as I looked at them. Then, another coworker walked in and was greeted cheerfully by the associate behind the counter. Still, nothing said to me. I was pretty annoyed so I put all of the merchandise I had in my hands perfectly back in its home and walked out. read more

OK minus one star because the lady apparently called the wrong number over a week ago notifying some random person that their print was ready. I thought it was taking way too long... dear foursided, make sure that you write the numbers of your customers clearly. Also, if the voicemail of the person you're calling is not the same as the person that paid for your services, chances are...you got the wrong number. Other than this, they rock. read more

Cute place! Lots of eclectic stationary and gifts. Chicago pins, frames with your home state (TX!), candles with celebrity faces, artist prints, cards, and sarcastic office supplies. The store itself is a fun place to browse with friends, with potential for lots of Instagram-worthy shots. read more

I came here to get a concert poster framed, and though it certainly wasn't cheap--custom framing never is--I'm glad I chose Foursided. I'd walked in once before to look at all of their knick knacks and art, which range from handmade cards to old typewriter keys to elaborate shadow boxes to paintings and collages. The store definitely has a specific aesthetic, which I love. When I walked in the second time with my poster in hand, a nice bearded man helped me immediately. He had lots of suggestions and took his time in helping me select a frame. He wasn't pushy, either, and was respectful of my budget and even suggested ways to corner costs. The framing job was done a few days before promised and the person I dealt with when I went back was friendly, too, and gave me a couple of cool magnets. Nice people, cool stuff, great for the spontaneous browse. read more

Here's the scenario... I bought a tiny oil painting for a person I knew just down the street from this place. I had zero ideas on how to frame it, or mount it...but it definitely needed something. I walked into foursided in hopes I could find a little inspiration. That's when I stumbled into Todd. He works there is really knows what he's doing. He not only came up with a brilliant idea for my art piece, but he figured out a way to keep in "on the cheap" AND he fit it into his already booked up schedule to get it done that night! Thank you so much, Todd! As for the store itself...it's filled with all sorts of inspirational items to create your own piece of art. They sell unique greeting cards, maps, a lot of flash cards and a whole lot more. Definitely stop in and take a look. But if you need something custom framed and want it to look spectacular...definitely head over and talk to Todd. read more

This place is very aesthetically pleasing-- glass storefront, huge space, and beautiful presentation of everything. But I can't imagine ever buying anything here. If I want typewriter keys for some reason, prying them off a discarded typewriter or just doing a good deal of hearty rummaging would feel much more authentic (and be cheaper..) than buying them from Foursided. I guess I'm just a bit turned off by how openly they are commodifying "vintage culture." They do have some unique items that I can't think to find anywhere else, but there is just something so disturbingly deliberate underlying it all. There was good background music playing when I visited, though. And they do have a jar of doggie treats and a bowl of water outside the door-- Very pleasant. read more

Such a magical place to stroll through anytime of the year! Todd has such a talent for collecting and displaying all sorts of things from the toys and trinkets of ones childhood to the current and cool pieces of today's generation. Everything displayed so creatively and thoughtfully... you'll surely find something you'll have to have for yourself! Being AirBnB hosts for the past 6 years here in Andersonville, we've met people from all around the world and nearly every guest mentions to us how much they love shopping at Foursided! When we see a Foursided bag in our home, we smile with a "Go Todd!" cheer! So much fun to have such wonderful artistic talent on the corner of Clark & Carmen! read more

I already raved about the location on Clark in Lakeview. This one is like the Mama to the Clark St baby. Seriously. I love it all. Ron Swanson quote prints, YESSSSS. Eclectic ephemera. And of course, the smartass cards that I keep on hand. I could seriously go broke. I love that the non-card merchandise varies and you never know what you might find. A Leslie Knope Galentine's Day card, yep. Breakfast Club reference birthday card, of course. Pop culture and attitude. I bust out my wallet every time. I haven't used the framing services, but I trust that they'd be rave worthy as well. read more

I had a big job of framing 5 pieces, and they did an awesome job. It was fun because the sales person got excited about the project, and helped me pick some awesome frames. She also helped steer me towards more reasonable priced frames when my taste got a little too expensive. They have beautiful art through out their store. I can't comment on prices as this is the first time I've had something framed. read more

Sometimes they are rude as can be in here and sometimes they are helpful, they're always expensive. So I've never given them my framing business but do stop in here and there if I am in a pinch and need to pick up a quick gift. Once needed a last minute baby gift and the person working there helped me pick out wooden letters to spell the kid's name, glued them together with a Fisher Price person attached. Dang adorable. She was so nice and helpful. Too bad this kind of service is so hit or miss. read more

NEVER visit this store in Andersonville!! Just got kicked out of the store because the ignorant COVID door monitor wasn't paying a lick of attention to those coming or going, then rudely kicked us out after two people left the store, and we entered. We stood in line outside for 15 minutes, making sure we didn't just walk in. If you are going to give a modicum of power to those who do not possess the mental capacity to understand it, or don't care enough to do it correctly, you risk losing clients. You just lost two good clients today. Sack your door monitor. She absolutely SUCKS!!! 12:47pm 10/17/20. read more

Oh my GODDDD. This place is awesome. It's probably good we didn't discover this place until yesterday because all our money would have gone to buying random knick knacks from this place. Huge card selection. Obviously, they frame stuff. They have a lot of really cool vintage posters, as well as art from local artists. Also, I bought a mustache ring from here, which is the best $6 I've ever spent. It's a ring. In the shape of a mustache. If for no other reason, go for the mustache rings. read more

I came here for The Grocer's first ever solo show http://flickr.com/photos/thegrocer/1490707554/ and enjoyed the setting, although it isn't the most austere environment for appreciating the art on display. The gallery sets up temporary gallery walls to hang works, and the paintings (or photos or sculpture or...) sit alongside tables groaning with candles, nick-nacks, and assorted ephemera. For ADD types, it can be extremely distracting! The staff is pleasant and helpful. Works from past shows adorn walls and every able inch of space not already occupied by something else. Everything is for sale, if it hasn't already been sold (in the case of The Grocer's show, a few works sold before the show opened...ah those little red dots). read more

The following sign hangs proudly on Foursided's front window: "DOGS WELCOME! But be careful. If Todd, the owner, is here he will shower your dog with love, kisses, and baby talk... it's so annoying." This canine-inclusive banner sets the tone for the welcoming and colorful store of knickknacks, cards, frames, and art within. The signage, and staff who live up to the cheerful introduction, place this store in bold contrast with a nearby cards and gifts seller, who inspired a rare rant from me during my first days on yelp. The selection of witty/beautiful/unique cards is fantastic. I've found a new home for gift prep needs. read more

Much nicer than the Lakeview location. I've never had anything framed here, however I wouldn't hesitate if the need suddenly hit me. What I love is all the neat art. The jewelry, the antique odds and ends and just all the cool stuff they have stocked from floor to ceiling. Great place for giftes, either for yourself or others. Nice staff, very polite and knowledgeable. read more

Foursided is probably my favorite store to find gifts for others and myself. Recently, I went there to finish Christmas shopping - and every time I walked by an area I had before, I found something new. It's loaded with great finds, ranging from low prices to mid-high. It's cluttered, yes, but in the most visually pleasing way possible. I've actually never gotten any framing done here, because custom framing is expensive and I can make semi-decent frames myself. But it seems like a good place for that. I always get lost in the card section. They have a beautiful selection of letterpress cards which I favor. This store is absolutely for lovers of 20th century graphics, type, and design in general. You'll find so many vintage objects and prints that your head will explode. The space is also filled with many type-oriented goodies. Foursided is my 1st stop for that perfect heart warming gift for a loved one or for a rainy day in much need of browsing for myself. read more

I have always been in love with the FourSided and TwoSided brand. I am definitely, as some folks mention here, a paper junkie! One of the great things about the brand is that they have variety. If you've got a little extra change, you can buy that $6 card that is going to make up for not having a present. If not, select a card and envelope from the card stock options on the left-hand of the store (I am partial to the mint green, myself!), and run yourself a tab of under a buck, still saving yourself the embarrassment of using a yellow legal pad to draft a "Happy Birthday" on top of a gift card pouch. Also- check out the selection of Chicago-based cards, posters, WRAPPING PAPER. I'm not kidding, this place has everything. I can't say that I have ever used the custom framing, but if I needed it, I would come here. Last but not least: the staff. AMAZING. Ask them anything and they are not only super informed, they understand that times are tough and that you may feel a little bashful about a card purchase. ($$) Seriously guys, a card from here still costs around the price of our precious Starbucks lattes, but they probably get the "it's too expensive" jibe 24/7. Give them a break, shoot them a smile, and ask how they're doing. :) read more

An ephemera junkie's dream. Especially if your taste is mid-century illustration. Everyone else mentioned the cards, the framing... nice, I'm sure. The guy at the frame counter seemed a bit hoity to the customer he was working with. That's OK, we were deep into piles of old flashcards. Lots of old paper from games. Letters galore. Everything is cheap enough on its own, but with so much can't miss, gotta have stuff, it added up for us. The person working the register was great, patient considering we had at least 50 different things from different boxes from all over the store, and not everything was marked. Can't wait to go back, but only when I got money to burn. read more

I stopped in recently to see about getting an estimate on how much it would cost me to replace the broken glass in a framed watercolor (subletters...gotta hate 'em, but at least this one gave me the money to fix it!). An employee told me what parts and labor would cost me, and impressed by the reasonableness of the amount, I told her to go ahead and fix it. Wiithin 10 minutes, I had my beautifully redone framed watercolor in my hands! I'll be back with all (hopefully not many...) future repairs. read more

As soon as I stumbled into this place a few summers ago I knew I was in trouble. If you don't know what to do for an afternoon, just stop in to this place. There is everything you could ever want from mini anvils to cards to scrap watch parts to foreign language learning flash cards with insanely unique pictures on them. Even the bathroom is sporting the decor throughout the store! I love coming here, but I never have enough money to spend. If you have not been in here yet, do it. It is totally worth it and you will not regret it one bit! read more

I live in Andersonville/Ravenswood and always support my neighborhood businesses. Stopped into Foursided today to pick up a Christmas/Encouragement Card for my wife who has breast cancer and is in chemotherapy. When I went to the checkout, there was a big display at the sales counter with cards saying things like Trump is a D**khead and Trump is a Motherf**ker followed by "have a nice day", real imaginative stuff. There were families with young children shopping in the store who inevitably were going to follow their parents to the checkout and see these cards. Are these the values this store is trying to represent? Subjecting ALL it's customers to their bias--even small children? I'm fully in tune with the "vibe" of my neighborhood, and despite being Conservative, I fully respect everyone's right to free speech--although it is rarely reciprocated--but this is lazy and lowbrow pandering of the highest and worst order. I'm not a "cancel-culture" kind of guy, but for a neighborhood that celebrates its inclusion and diversity--these folks are way off the mark. This isn't even the first time this has happened. I bought my wife a birthday card--a very gender unspecific card with a funny message about "someone reminded me it was your birthday" as if to imply that the buyer had forgotten. It was a cute card. On the back of the card was the price sticker with the label "Man Card", as if to imply that men are all chimps who forget their wives birthdays. Is this feminism? Why? Where does all the hate come from in a freaking gift shop--as store where people are happily buying gifts for their loved ones? Is this the shopping experience they are trying to promote? No thank you. read more

This is my go-to store for greeting cards - no matter the occasion. Though the store is not incredibly large, their selection of unique cards, posters, and trinkets make this the ideal shop when you don't know exactly what type of gift you're looking for. I also recommend checking in at FourSided for your decorating needs. The posters, maps, and lettering could go a long way in furnishing a new living space. read more

One of my favorite places to go in and browse! Frames, posters, art, stationary and vintage everything from flash cars and photos to books and toys. They also have personalize framing. I had a few pieces done a few months ago. They aren't cheap, but they definitely know what they're doing. The frames looked beautiful. There's also a location in Lakeview on Broadway. However, this one is so much larger and there's so much more to look through. read more

It was hard to choose between 3 or 4 stars, and it mostly comes down to price. I know this store handpicks items and is a curated decor and design shop but sometimes the prices make me balk. One of a kind, mod and modern, vintage and child-like - it's all here, but it will cost you an arm and a leg. It takes a while to really rifle through all the unique items they sell, and really get in there and touch. Move things around, play with the frames, build words with vintage letter blocks - have fun! They can frame for you if you have a picture, or like me, put together some trinkets in a frame for a low price. They are very creative, so I would probably trust them to do most stuff by instinct. read more

I'm so happy to have found Foursided after my go-to greeting card store (Paper Doll) in Andersonville closed! This is the perfect spot to stop in for a unique, beautifully-made greeting card and gift for someone - I've never been disappointed. The staff have always been GREAT, even letting me in while they were officially closed so that I could get an "emergency" card! I've always been greeted and then left alone to browse - exactly what I want, especially when I plan to spend eons reading all the cards. Whenever I've asked for help, they've gone above and beyond, even helping me put together a last-minute gift bag. read more

Have to say, I haven't had anything framed here but the gift and card ideas here are pretty awesome. This is the first store (of four) that now reside in the northern parts of Chicago. The shop is filled with unique gift ideas with local flair. A lot of the items are Chicago or Michigan themed (I believe the owner is from Michigan), which is great if you're looking for that type of gift. A myriad of unique and quirky cards can also be found in the rear of the store. I visited this location the Saturday after Christmas and much of their holiday merchandise was marked down. The store was pretty busy and the sales associates seemed to be working with the customers...although I wasn't greeted or assisted. They did have a multitude of framing options, from what was hanging on the walls, but I didn't inquire into the pricing. All in all, a good bet for some unique gift ideas. I'll definitely be back, and if I did need anything framed (custom or not) I would give this place a shot. read more

I have been passing this store for the last 6 months wanting to find time to stop in. This past week I did that and spent over an hour in the store. There is so much to look at you could be in there forever and still find new things to see! I love the combination of vintage items for you to purchase, either for your own creations or with creative ideas they provide for you in tips and displays. I also felt their prices were fairly reasonable for framing, although I didn't pay much attention to the larger frames/project prices. I loved that they had several different vintage, repurposed frames to buy that offer a great look, and are being green/eco. They also have several unique items to buy for people visiting Chicago--dish towels, glasses, funny, unique postcards, definitely items that aren't your classic touristy, stopped-at-Wrigleyville-to-buy-a-shot-glass gift. They had great portraits, paintings, and pictures of different aspects of Chicago and neighborhoods that I appreciated. You can buy neighborhood items too to represent your part of Chicago or your most frequented L stop. Their cards and postcards are hilarious, creative, and they have a HUGE variety. The staff was also very friendly and kind! Will be shopping here frequently! read more

Foursided framing is absolutely incredible! If I could give them ten stars, I would. I was given two pieces of art by my grandmother - one was a piece of vintage embroidery and the other a photograph. They had a similar subject matter, but of course couldn't be any different in material. I had a big idea to frame them together in a single frame with the mat between. I thought for sure a framing company would shy away from this weird challenge, but Foursided embraced it. The framing just took 2 weeks, and they did an incredible job. Their framers offered suggestions on the frame and mat that I never would have thought of but looked ten times better than the black and white frame and mat I had originally thought of. They really took care with something they knew was very very special to me. I would recommend them for any framing job! read more

Great spot to stop in for after breakfast at the bongo room. I was quite impressed with this shop. Most of these kind of stationary, knock knack shops are overpriced with only a few interesting things. I felt like everything here was unique and fun to look at. From the candles, to greeting cards, and from the posters to the jewelry, this place was cool. I will definitely be visiting again with a bit more cash ;) read more

The girl who helped me pick out matting and frames was wonderful. They require a down payment which is fine, but their receipts are not logical. They write down a cost for the framing. I would expect the subtotal, tax, total cost, down payment, and balance clearly documented. That's not the case. Because of there weird receipts, they told me my balance, but neglected to leave off tax. On a $600 purchase, that is significant. When I picked up my purchases he was searching for the store receipt. When he could not find,he asked me if I had gotten a call that my frames were ready.(in that tone that comes across as "You are an idiot. I can't find your receipt because your order isn't ready for pick up.") He took my receipt before finding the misfiled receipt. He did not hand me back my receipt, but said he placed it down on the counter-I was looking at merchandise. When he told me my balance, I told him it was not what I expected and asked him to explain the receipt. Hes obviously not a math person, a good business person, or able to understand the importance of good documentation. He called me a horrible person. He never understood my concerns about the receipt. He kept telling me the information was on my receipt, which could not be located. So now, rather than listening to my concern about the bad documentation on the receipt, he is now MAD that he can't PROVE to me something on my receipt. I had to ask him 10 times to just let me pay so I could leave, but now he won't ring up the purchase because he's intent on finding the missing receipt. Why can't he just let me pay? The vein in his forehead is popping out and if I had been at any other business, I would have left long ago, but they have my family heirlooms. Although the framing experts were wonderful and the products turned out great, I will NEVER go back here because that man literally frightened me to the point it felt like he could harm me. Maybe he was having a bad day, but I was shaking when I left. Shame on him. read more

I have to thank Todd for doing a great job handling an unfortunate situation that arose with my framing project. Weird ink/paper resulted in a blotchy finish on my prints. Todd apologized, ordered replacements, the replacements were the wrong size, he re-ordered, and re-framed them using a different technique. What really stood out was the honesty and communication along the way. I never had to throw a fit, I never had to debate anything. Todd kept me up to date along the way, admitting when he had ordered the wrong sizes or when the prints reacted funny in the first place. That's a kind of good, honest customer service that you just don't see every day. Todd really cares about the outcome of the projects and will be completely transparent with you if something goes awry. Then, he will do everything he can to make things right. So don't throw fits. Be nice to Todd. He and the folks at Foursided will take care of you! I also want to give a thanks to Jessica for helping me land on killer frames for my prints when I first came in. They're up now, and they look so great! read more

Great store with the best little gifts and home goods. I purchase a majority of our candles from here. They have a great selection.

Foursided is a 'triple-threat' in the sense that they have combined quality product, service and artistic creativity all into one. I've gotten several items framed here and I have always been impressed with the variety of options they offer. The employess are so nice and helpful and owner goes out of his way to help and is very patient which is perfect for someone as indecisive as me. On top of the framing they also sell an array of fun and unsual things. Cards, wrapping paper, gifts, antiques and fabulous art. The store is like a museum. It's wonderful to walk in and see the creative things they've done. I went in over the holidays and they had decorated a tree with old Fisher Price toys. Definitely check it out, it isn't just a framing store! read more

There's quite a bit going on here. One of those shops where you're likely to find some kind of gift for anyone on your shopping list. That said, I was primarily in to shop some of their used frames. I'm always on the hunt for frames for my photography. On the recommendation of an acquaintance, I stopped in. They do indeed have a large selection of very cool *salvaged* frames. A very large selection. Distinct. Not the usual bland fare found in stores like Michael's or Joann's or Target. However, while I am far from averse to paying good money for an awesome frame, those here are, in my opinion, wildly over-priced. Especially since some of them are so old and dried out as to be falling apart. Not to mention, I was shopping only for the frames themselves -- thank goodness. I was told by a clerk that if I wanted mats and glass it would cost even more with price depending on the size of the frame. Six used frames lightened my wallet by nearly $250. I'm ticking $$$$ because it is an expensive shop. However, I would not call the merchandise "ultra high end". read more
