This is how it looks like over $400 spent in their store! I took my map for framing, they assured me they can do it, glue it on the crock and framed it, measure it and price was to the roof but I was ok doing it since I framed pictures before. So more than a month later when they finished it due to waiting for frame supposedly, I get buy pictures with an explanation " it could not have been done better " So if you have a worth picture to you don't take it for framing by they will ruin it! So now I have to hang an embarrassing picture on my wall with no going back after all the money and time wasted !!! read more

I am obsessed with Foursided! Over the past 3-5 years I've come here when in a bad mood, because I know anything I find within these bright walls is also guaranteed to cheer me up inside my own head. From Chicago-specific swag to kitchen goodies to pop culture gems, I have never been disappointed after a visit to this sweet little shop. Recently, I was worried about finding unique last-minute Christmas gifts for both my boyfriend's sister and my own, so I walked over on December 23 with my cold fingers crossed in my winter coat pocket. I found several absolutely perfect gifts right away, and ended up spending an extra hour just gaping at all of the gorgeous Christmas and Chicago-themed goodies. I even had to pretty much forcibly stop myself from purchasing several things for my own home. May I say, the Hammerpress Thank you cards are beyond frameable perfection, they are welcomed- Please keep ordering those from Brady Vest, they are my favorite. Additionally, My Dad is a retired cop with a very dark, somewhat twisted sense of humor. One does not send him standard civilian Hallmark Greetings. This is a fun store that has wonderful trinkets- whimsical without being too twee. There is a nice variety of tchotchkes, most notably cards and frames, but other cool things too: magnets, candles, many Chicago-themed items, and even a Taylor Swift novel, borrowing heavily from Nancy drew, that my friend was quick to snap up. My only complaint is the service: for such a fun store, you'd think the cashier wouldn't scowl at his customers. read more

I'm truly bummed to have to write this, because I love all the stuff I have purchased from Foursided and love spending time in each of the stores, but feel it's necessary given how my most recent experience has stuck with me. Basically, whoever was working at the front was unnecessarily rude and me feel like a complete idiot after I asked, out of desperation after a long and strangely unproductive search at CVS, Wal-mart, etc, if they had construction paper. I get it - not a common place for people to search for basic crafting stuff but, wow, you may have thought I personally attacked her or her family given her grimace, and eye roll as she said, "Uhh or maybe you could just go to CVS and buy some for $4 dollars." Yeah, thanks, obviously I wouldn't have inconvenienced you if that had worked out for me before I came here. A simple, "Oh no, so sorry! Maybe try CVS?" would've been more effective. Sorry about this, Foursided, but having a welcoming staff is pretty basic customer service and I know Yelp reviews stir the pot, so here we are. read more

I have been a customer at the Lakeview and LP Foursided shops for a few years now and just got something framed here for the first time and couldn't be happier. -I worked with Dillon who was polite and professional through the whole process. -After picking out the frame the pricing was broken down and clearly presented to me so I could see what I was paying for. -The timeframe they gave me for completing the project was on point. -When I picked up the frame it seemed like Dillon was genuinely proud of the work that went into the piece and that made me even more confident hanging it on my wall. tl/dr: Foursided rules. This place is an utter scam with god awful customer service. Save yourself the time and energy and do NOT shop at this piss poor establishment. First of all, I purchased a puzzle and went to return it due to missing puzzle pieces in the box. When I get there I am immediately greeted with an ignorant attitude with them telling me that they can't take it back with no explanation. After pressing for a reason why, I am told "did you read the receipt" and that the return policy is that items must be returned within 24 hours which is not stated anywhere in the store nor on the receipt (mind you that I went to return the item about 33 hours after the purchase). I really wish I could say something good about this place as I am close with a lot of small business owners and have always gone out of my way to support them, but my one and only experience here was ruined by their mindless employees. At least I have part of a puzzle that will never be complete! read more

This is my first yelp review but the store smells so bad. I tried to go in to get a birthday gift for a friend, I had to leave because it smells like rotten eggs and mold. I wouldn't buy anything from here unless you want to have nasty smelling items. You can tell they are aware of the smell with all the candles burning. A few weeks ago I was driving around looking for parking so I could do a little shopping on Broadway. When I was headed down the alley next to Foursided I noticed a girl outside smoking a weed pen. At first I just giggled because... who cares... right? So I finally found parking and went into Foursided. The girl getting high in the alley was sitting behind the register at this point. While I was browsing I picked up an item that I wasn't sure about. When I asked her what the product was she ROLLED HER EYES AT ME and said "they're matches" in the most condescending way. Oh did I not mention? This is the woman who CLAIMED TO BE THE ASSISTANT MANAGER. Isn't a manager's job to be good at customer service? I felt embarrassed and also disrespected. I wouldn't feel great about paying someone who had that kind of work ethic. Smoking weed is one thing. But smoking at work AND being awful to customers is another. So unprofessional. I won't be back. YOU GUYS! Foursided is the bomb.com.. Yesterday I went in to the Lakeview location on Broadway and was helped by the most amazing four women! I was getting ready to send out a very important gift but I was stressed out about everything going into it. Birthdays are very important to me so I'm incredibly detail oriented in every aspect of the gifts. I came in to find wrapping paper. Not only did they all jump in to help me pick out the most perfect wrapping paper and bow, they also wrapped it perfectly to be shipped out. I also had to add in a custom birthday card and they helped me every step of the way. It's rare you find four people that work in one place that will provide this great of service. I left feeling super happy and excited about everything from start to finish. Sam, Claire, Kelly and Sarah - I adore you four SO much. Thank you so so so so so so so much for everything you did with me yesterday. I hope this birthday gift is received with as much joy as it was with us putting it together. I love their sister store - Twosided - so when my husband and I invested in our first piece of art, we decided to have it framed here. The picture is an amazing photo of the inside of the Detroit train station, which is falling apart but still beautiful. We wanted a frame that complemented the picture, something antiquey and a little distressed. We checked around at a few other frame shops, but none had as many interesting and unique frames as Foursided. Since we've never had anything framed, we were a little naive about the cost. When we brought our picture in, the woman helping us asked what our budget was. We suggested $200-$250. She said that could be done, but that the frame would be very basic. She brought over a few plain frames and then selected a few that were more expensive but that went really well with the photo. I checked the samples as well, and found that the ones she had selected were my favorites. The one we went with was one of the cheaper frames....and still with the gallery white matting, the fade resistant glass, and the gorgeous frame for our large, odd shaped picture (I think it was 30 X 23?), the total cost was $380. Since I haven't framed anything before, I can't say if that is more or less expensive than average, but I can say that the service was excellent, turnaround time was quick, and the finished product is absolutely beautiful. My one complaint is that the wire hanger on the back snapped as my husband was bringing the picture home (better then than after we had hung it). They are going to fix it for free after we lug it back over there, so I am a bit annoyed by that, but it won't stop me from having my pictures framed there in the future. read more

I like this place. The people who work there are very helpful in picking out the best frame, and they do quality work. They are a little pricey, but I believe that you get what you pay for in a frame job. I have had 5 different paintings and prints done there on different occasions. Only one of them had an issue. I had a lithograph print framed and got it home only to realize that they had not included glass. I should have realized this when checking the work before leaving the shop, but missed it. I took it back in and the staff was very helpful. They agreed that, of course, there should be glass included in this job. They re-did the print to add glass in just two days and did not charge me anything. They apologized for missing such an important detail. My view is that most ALL businesses will make a little screw up or miss a detail from time to time. How they deal with it is what makes the difference, and Foursided handled this situation as well as could be expected. I'll continue to take my business here. read more

Foursided is by far my favorite place in Chicago. I go to the one in Andersonville about once a week and have lots of wall hangings and framed work from there. The Foursided on Broadway just isn't as helpful. I went in to use my yelp coupon and they just are not as friendly as the one on Clark. I like when the workers can give advice on what looks good, but when I asked there really wasn't help. I'm sure it will look beautiful, but just something to work on possibly. I really loved Foursided when I went there last year to frame a couple of pictures for my boyfriend. The frames were beautiful and the final pieces looked great. One of the pictures was kind of bent at the bottom and they flattened it out. They helped me pic the perfect frame for the picture and my boyfriend really enjoyed his gift. read more

I"m sorry to see the low ratings here because it's compared to Twosided and Foursided's location in Andersonville. This is the original store and it's primarily a frame shop. If you want cards and prints and the oddball antique printed matter head to Twosided or the Andersonville store. The framing isn't cheap but they do a great job and they're willing to spend a lot of time helping pick out the right frame. I must have spent a half hour deciding on frame for a small woodcut I bought and they never rushed me or made me feel like I was wasting their time. The Andersonville store has antique frames but if you want to get something framed in a new frame and you don't care about the cards and knickknacks this location is fine if you're in the neighborhood like me. If you don't live near either location the Andersonville one is probably the best option - especially if you're driving. Parking is much easier there. read more
