I got a 1955 (Jetson's era meets 1930s art deco) electric coffee maker in mint condition (with all the parts) for $35!!! Sure it wasn't cheap, but it was totally worth it! $22 seems to be the number of choice for most jewelry and accessories (which I found to be slightly overpriced). Great music played loud but didn't bother me one bit, in fact it added to my overall enjoyment and experience of the shop. Great selection of authentic broaches and jewelry. Limited bake-light and lucite items though the few they DO have are priced fairly. Best part is by far the antique household items. Large selection of records with Lou Reed having his own section! Dressing room is the restroom. Restroom is small, dingy, dirty but again, works with the vibe of the place so it didn't bother me. It felt kinda like a live art museum where you can pick things up in one place and then leave them in another. Everything was scattered around and mixed together so it made you really have to look and interact with the space. I had a fun time. It felt like an artist date!

The building housing the Antique Mall in "downtown" Union City (Columbia Street) is known as the "old Kirshbaum building." For those who crave a dose of nostalgia, it's like stepping in to a time capsule with the tin ceilings, old glass cases and beautiful wide, carpeted stairway. I most often turn to the Mall when I'm looking for something in particular, for instance, my white 1950s wooden dining room table or skeleton keys I once used to make earrings. However, if I just want to have a good hour of moseying fun, my legs will take me in. The sad thing, in my opinion, is that my neighbors and fellow Union City-ans don't realize how lucky we are to have this beautiful business in our town. I more often hear of people turning to Target and WalMart for their furniture than buying something that not only has character, but is equally as cheap (not to mention the reduce, reuse, recycle aspect;). Grateful to have this charming and beautiful business in my hometown - I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

It is the definition of a small business --- the owner, Allison, is there every day behind the counter which I love. She is not only knowledgeable from first-hand experience (with both her kids) but she does a lot of research on "natural" baby toys, materials and such so her store has a great variety of products (not just cloth diapers!). I have bought not only a good selection of diapers, but clothing, tea, toys and wool dryer balls here. She also seems to take pride in being a part of the community and offers free cloth diaper classes and posts a lot of local info on her Facebook page. She is great about answering any question you may have... which as a first time mom, I really appreciate! She sells many handmade things (which I love!) to include jewelry, clothing, and toys.... she also has these graham crackers from a local vendor @ the register -- YUM! While I find the name of this store really hard to pronounce and generally just refer to it as the diaper store, it's a great place to stop in if you are walking around in the center of Troy. If you are in the market (or are thinking about trying cloth diapers) it's worth the drive. Grab a cup of coffee from down the street and come by for a quick chat with Allison -- I always learn something new and walk out with a little something from my little girl.
