The decor is old school and soothing and the different genres are marked on the outside of the shelves. I was disappointed to not see a dedicated area for horror/weird fiction. I enquired about Lovecraft and the very helpful male staff member told me nothing was in at the moment. He directed me to fantasy/science fiction and I did find a book to my liking. He also found me a small collection of Poe which I also secured for my library. I was also advised that I can let them know of books or authors that I'm seeking and they would let me know if anything comes in. The store is big so I know there is much more for me to explore next visit and they have several cozy sitting areas where you can just read, or have a cup of tea as well. As you meander through the maze of shelving, you find every genre you could want, from mystery and fantasy to travel and politics to children and YA. They even have a hidden Harry Potter room under the stairs and a Sherlock Holmes reading room in the back. What a great place. They've got room dedicated to fantasy to mystery and literature. The folks that work there are some of the nicest folks are going to meet. Outgoing and knowledgeable. Friendly. I've ordered books through them and they're good with finding used books and then selling them to me at lower than full price, reasonable price but not max price. They're right next-door to Winans Chocolate & Coffee, so it's really convenient to find a nice little walk, get yourself a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate, and then go in the back to the reading room between the two and sit down in the corner of the couch and do some reading.

We had to go check out the legend of a massive warehouse of books hidden inside a deceptively industrial area. The entrance and parking lot for Dollar Book Swap are located in the back of the warehouse block they are in, and there are two ways to access the back. One "road" if one shall loosely call it that, is gravely and filled with massive potholes making for an adventurous ride. The road on the other side of the building also gets you to the same place... but it's paved and in good condition... choose your own adventure! Then it's through a door that opens up into... a massive warehouse space. Keep going and then you'll see them. Books. Everywhere. Shelves, giant boxes, display areas, library carts.... all full of books. There is also a DVD section. Smaller rooms open up off of the spaces, one with children's books, another a mystery/suspense room with, fittingly, a taped outline on the floor. There's even a corner space with food items. The vast majority of books are $1.25, with some exceptions, like the step into reading style books 2 for $1.25 or the bags of children's books you can fill for $10 a bag. The selection is a mix of new and used, and as one might expect, it just depends on what they have in stock at the time of your visit. It's a fun adventure to comb the shelves. Check all the nooks and crannies... there's a "book cave" in another corner. Service was friendly and efficient to check out. Fun place to explore if you're in the area.

Drove up from Cincy to come to a few bookstores in the Dayton area and this was our first stop. The…read morestore looks small outside but inside it is HUGE and stuffed with so many books. Organized chaos is the term that comes to mind - there were books in every nook and cranny of the space, but grouped by author and type of book. We stayed for over an hour. The staff members were super friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we knew how the store "worked", brought us baskets and offered book recommendations. The store had new and used books galore! Prices were VERY reasonable for everything. We will definitely be back!!!
