PLEASE TAKE THIS REVIEW INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN THINKING ABOUT USING FOURSTAR.
If I were to describe FourStar on the Hill, I would describe them as lying, conniving, and slimy. Being a third time renter ever, FourStar has led me to believe that renting can be extremely untrusting and backstabbing. My two roommates and I were one of the first to live in the 2885 East Aurora Flats on the east side of campus. When signing, we were so excited because we felt Our property manager could be trusting and easy to communicate with. He assured us that he could help us out with any problems we had. I can assure you, he did the exact opposite. Now, I understand no one wants to read about the tens of hundreds of issues that we had with FourStart, but I can tell you about two important incidents that have led me to forewarn every single person that may have any thought of using this company.
1. The plumbing
From what we were told by the construction workers, the East Aurora Flats were once before office buildings that were supposed to be condemned. Of course, standing today are now student apartments (how did they get this approved by the City of Boulder, who knows?). The first few months weren't too bad with our plumbing, but one of our toilets stopped working. We filed, between my roommates and I, about 7 maintenance requests (with no answer, of course) between the months of October to February. We called several times, leaving James messages, with (once again) no response. I'm fully aware that James is busy. He has a lot going on, but rarely responded to us about it. By early March, with multiple renters calling about plumbing issues, they finally decided to react. Between the early March until early May, they were in and out of multiple apartments. At times, did not give any notice that they were coming into our place. I came home to find my room completely torn up, barely livable because they had to get into the crawl space in the closet.
-maintenance man came in late april to "fix toilet". Plunged it for a minute or so, then said it's something in the pipes. I tried to explain to him that we plunged it with no such luck, in the midst of talking to him he interrupted me by answering a phone call and leaving.
-toilet is still broken, unlivable. We now have a 3 bedroom 1 bath; which we weren't given anything back for
-james said he couldn't do anything about it, in their info sheet it says "we will do anything in our power to fix"; said if it's that much of an issue he buy us a plunger (condescendingly)
2. Flooding/mold
-our wall was exposed for 3 weeks (harmful)
-roommates room was unlivable
-call over 5 times for changes
-never fixed small holes and charged us as damage
When renting from them, expect to lose money.
I honestly don't quite know how James has a job and continues to keep his job after the way not only us, but the many others that had to deal with his belittling, untrusting, materialistic self. I'm appalled that someone can treat others the way he has treated us. In all my life, I've never had to deal with an "man" that lies to not only the tenants, but the guarantors as well. As of right now, I've called four times to try to figure out why I have two maintenance request charges that I never even had done. Of course, with no response. I'm absolutely disappointed with this management company and only hope this can forewarn many before using them. read more
