We had another big branch snap off our Bradford Pear, and since it wasn't the first time, we…read morefinally decided the whole tree needed to go. I chose Texas Hill Country Trees because their reviews and ratings were the strongest, simple as that. Our backyard is all artificial turf and rock, so I was nervous about damage. Jeff sent a quote within 24 hours, included his insurance, and reassured me they work over turf all the time. That alone gave me peace of mind. The quote was fair, and the crew came out the very next day. They showed up on time, got straight to work, and every single person was professional. Before anyone looks at the photos I'm posting, I want to point something out. I knew going in that I'd have some cleanup to do afterward. With the amount of work needed, especially grinding down the stump, I wasn't expecting the area to look perfect. They're tree trimmers, removers, arborists, not landscapers. And honestly, considering the work involved, they left the space in great shape. The rest is just me doing the final touches so it looks the way I prefer it. Blame it on my OCD. As for the one‑star review calling Jake rude, I'm sure there are two sides to that story, because my experience with him was completely different. I arrived about an hour after they started, and Jake introduced himself immediately. He walked me through what they were doing and explained how they were protecting the turf. He was professional the entire time. I HIGHLY recommend Texas Hill Country Trees. Don't let one angry review scare you off, my experience from start to finish was excellent.

Jake, an employee of Texas Hill Country Trees LLC, along with the crew operating truck TL-926669,…read moreacted in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. The crew blocked my driveway while performing work in the neighborhood and showed little regard for common courtesy or respect toward neighboring residents. Before the issue escalated, I politely informed the crew that I would be leaving soon and that they would need to move their vehicle. I initially allowed them additional time to continue working. However, after they ignored my requests made from my front doorway, I was forced to approach Jake and the crew directly to clarify what they were doing was illegal and I need to go to work. Despite my repeated requests, they became argumentative and used profanity toward me, including calling me a "bitch," when I confronted them and insisted that they stop blocking my driveway and move their vehicle immediately. When I arrived home approximately five to six hours later, I discovered several trash bags filled with organic waste left on my side of the alleyway located between their client's residence (my neighbor's property) and my own. The waste appeared to have been left behind by the crew, further demonstrating a lack of professionalism, consideration, and proper cleanup practices. I found the behavior of both Jake and partially the crew to be highly disrespectful, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Please do your due diligence when hiring so called, "professionals."

The owner himself knew about this and does still know about this and still offers the person that does cocaine and marijuana on the job site to continue to work there. They are not professional whatsoever. You may think that. One time an individual that works there cut a tree off, and it landed on the balcony due to a causing a wood damage on the deck instead of the company taking accountability. They ran to Home Depot and got wood glue to repair it so the owners wouldn't know and the owners of the household still don't know what really occurred and they are going to have to pay out of their pocket for their balcony when the company should pay themselves instead of going about it the wrong way they should've went about it the right way. Once cocaine usage and marijuana is involved and the owner is completely fine with that and alcohol. I would not recommend this place or an option of it. A lot of things happen behind closed doors. They even have somebody living there at their business and he drinks every day and night and he is working for them as well while the owner is letting him live there on the property of sa total tree service. This place is very unprofessional, they do not do any drug test for their employees. The owner is even OK with an alcoholic working for him. Find somebody else to do your trees, please. This is not it.

Big fire hazard - lots of dead branches on the oaks. We chose San Antonio Tree Surgeons because they state tools are sanitized and oaks are painted where there are cuts to prevent oak wilt issues. Arborist Priscilla came out assessed, sent us a invoice and the workers were out next day. They worked fast and somehow cleaned up all those tiny branches. For all the work, the bill was very reasonable. Will use them again. I liked that the arborist answered questions. Office staff will send msg every step and promptly answer you back.
