I used Tree Surgeons in 2019 and 2020. Annette was the arborist and she was knowledgeable and professional. I was hoping for them to return and trim the trees again in 2021 at the same value or a little more given recent inflation. Unfortunately the quote came back at $700 for three (3) trees versus the $600 for four (4) trees previously trimmed in 2019 and 2020. How does the price jump for less work? That went from $150 average cost to $233 or ~55% price increase. Inflation sucks but not to that degree. Brad at the office just said 'trees are different' to justify the cost then asks when I wanted to schedule a visit showing poor customer service and understanding. It is unfortunate when you thought you found a company you thought was great value and ethics just for them to disappoint you in a manner of two emails. Final email from Brad: Do you think for a minute that you can bully us into reducing your estimate with the threat of a review? Not only is that not going to work, we will never work for you again in the future. Tree services are raising the prices with you because you are so difficult to work with. We had a total of 5 trees cut down, 2 trees trimmed, and some hedges that also need to be trimmed back. Overall, the experience working with them was pretty straightforward and the pricing seemed to be on par with the other estimates we received. They came out to our house took pictures of the different trees/bushes/etc. and sent us an estimate based on what was discussed. It's worth mentioning that all of the services they provided were done so while my husband and I were NOT at home since we work full time, so all of our correspondence was done via email/phone. The work they did was exactly what we agreed upon, but my issue is the mess that was left on our property. Water bottles and food wrappers were strewn throughout the yard--thankfully I got to them before our dogs did. They also left a significant amount of debris behind, large limbs/branches just left around the yard, which my husband and I had to clear on our own. I needed a arborist to look at my oak tree, when they told me they charge 150.00 to just show up I said no thanks. Then soon after a few days later arborist called to say on her way, I called back and explained I already canceled and never set appointment. She said ok sorry. Then today I get email that I owe 162.00 for services never rendered. I called and told them how does this happen when I have told them no on several occasions and she said she sees no service rendered but I told her send me proof I owe you nothing since their word means nothing and the left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing. I could say "reliable" with less than five stars. I'm a reasonable person, and they weren't able to get here on Tuesday due to rain. They got here Friday instead. They were very thoughtful with their work and gave my oak a decent cutting with no little annoying branches hanging on my roof. The HOA says we're welcome to trim trees, because, frankly they've only cut this tree once or maybe twice in 7.5 years. It was happy from it's over abundance of rain! Now we're both happy since it's more like an umbrella now. I'm liking the tree trim and I'll get them back again in a couple of years. I'm only thankful my back yard doesn't have a tree to deal with because if so, the HOA would never trim that tree, it's all on YOU! read more

I had contracted with this company to trim all my trees for $2000 back in May 2017. They trimmed way less than I was expecting and I told them so, but paid them anyway. I would have expected that $2000 worth of trimming would have at least filled their trailer once. They also forgot to trim one root that was to be included. I reminded them but they never did come back to complete. Since then the owner called me back to say that they had completed the work that was in the contract. read more

They trampled on my flower garden, cut the wrong branches, uprooted my hibiscus tree, took my wood that was suppose to be cut and stacked and tried to climb over my fence. I was VERY disappointed in the service I received. There was no oversite on the trimmers and no one came to make sure the job was done right. Will never use this company again. Visit by arborist went well. Gave me a quote for cutting down and thinning freeze damaged trees. When I approved their quote, the next message I got from them was they put me on their schedule and would do the work by March 25. Next thing I know I get a call on March 23 while I'm out running errands that the crew is at my house and wants to know where to park their trailer. When I arrive home 10 minutes later, the crew is already at work and no one speaks english. Coordination by office staff was nonexistent. Crew did good work. I'm changing my rating to 1 star because I had to call the Bexar County Sheriff because I was harassed by Brad today. He insisted that I remove my post. Brad called again and Officer DeLuna answered and identified himself. Brad said "Mind your own business" and continued contentiously. Officer DeLuna told him not to contact me any longer, or any of his affiliates. He further stated that cyber bulling is a crime. The Officer finally had to discontinue the call as Brad continued contentiously. 10 minutes later Brad called back again and Officer DeLuna answered again. Brad started by accusing him of being a fake Sheriff and continued contentiously. Finally, I used Davey Tree Service. They came out and did everything in 1 hour for $250. read more

I have a large live oak in my backyard that needed some serious work. It had grown unchecked for over a year and the limbs were close to my roof and my neighbors back patio. Annette from SA Tree Surgeons came out to take a look and gave me an estimate for a full prune of the tree and removal of the ball moss that was all over it. I agreed to the estimate and was told the tree would be trimmed the next day while I was at work. I came home from work the next day and the tree looked awesome. Paul (the arborist) called me when at my home, provided a verbal evaluation and estimate for my services and even gave me some honest guidance for my 'geriatric' ash tree I'm just not ready to cut down. Recently hired San Antonio Tree Surgeons based on best price. That was my first mistake. Lesson learned - don't go with less expensive bid when it comes to tree trimming. I did my research and was sure to go with a company that had a certified arborist. I had 3 bids - tree surgeons was least expensive. The arborist did come out and took notes. Trim 8 oaks trees and prune 6 mature Japanese blueberry shrubs used for privacy around fence line because our house is higher than all surrounding neighbors and we have a pool. It was my understanding the arborist would be on-site at some point - in the beginning and maybe at the end to oversee the work. The crew arrived and told me they knew what to do. After 1 hour - knock on my door. The crew had basically hacked out the middle of the first shrub making appear now like a tree. I made it clear and they should have know the interior parts of those shrubs were for privacy. They hacked that one the worse but basically took away the coverage those shrubs provide prior to their work. The cut away new healthy growth. They did offer a discount but we'll probably have to replace a couple as I don't see those growing back in this by this summer. Second lesson learned - if you hire this company or any other company - insist the arborist is on-site to provide at least initial direction to the crew. Finally - arborist had the audacity to ask me if I would use them again? Excellent work by "San Antonio Tree Surgeons (SATS)"! Bottom Line: If you need a tree removal company, you do not have to look any further. Story: I needed two awkwardly growing oak trees removed from my backyard. Based on Yelp! research and previous customer's comments, I called SATS. Immediately I understood that I made the correct choice. Jessica (who may be the most courteous Administrative-Assistant in San Antonio) answered all of my questions and sent over an Arborist. I don't remember the gentleman's name, however, he came out the next day and expertly assessed the situation, provided a fair estimate, and immediately scheduled the removal in three-days. Three-days later, a team of professionals made quick work of the two oak trees (approximately two-hours). An additional three-days, another professional came by to grind the two remaining stumps (approximately 15 minutes for the work). It was early in the morning, but hey, that's when I drink my coffee - so bring it. - Cleanup: No problem! - Professionalism: Spot on from start to finish! - Price: I thought it was very fair and reasonable. Then again I have no idea what the rate SHOULD be. But I can't cut down two oak trees in two-hours, remove huge oak tree stumps that are deep in the ground, AND not break nothing so there we go. I called Annette from San Antonio Tree Surgeons to come out and look at the trees.  She said that she saw no disease on the trees, but that they looked stressed from all the ball moss.  Did not advise any chemicals, and gave me a quote of $2000 for hand ball moss removal and getting rid of dead branches.  For eleven large trees, that sounded fair.  Did not ask for any money up front, and scheduled me for this past Tuesday morning. She said they could guarantee 80% of the ball moss would be gone.  Said they strived for more, but couldn't guarantee more. After they finished, I think the removal was more like 95%.  They sent a crew of several guys, with a teenage girl as interpreter, because they were all Spanish speaking.  They arrived on time and were immediately up in my trees.  These guys got way out on the upper limbs that I wouldn't have even thought would support a man, and went to work cutting and scraping.  At first, I was shocked with how many limbs they were cutting out, since we had just recently had the trees trimmed. I told them I wanted them to save as many branches as possible, and they said ok. When they were done, even though a lot of limbs had been cut, the trees looked better than I ever remember seeing them.  We moved here 36 years ago, and in spite of having the trees trimmed regularly, nobody had ever gotten to the really high branches to get rid of the moss, and they have always looked so burdened down and sick.  Now, almost everything you see is green, fresh looking growth.  No more gray, twisted, dead areas. They all look years younger. The other thing I found amazing about this group, was their clean-up.  The yard was several feet deep in moss, twigs, leaves, and branches when they finished.  Whenever we've had our trees trimmed, after the trimmers have "cleaned up," I've always had to take a whole day to rake and bag all the stuff they didn't pick up. These people left it cleaner than it was before they came.  I have a little 3 foot tall rock planter in the front that consists of rocks that I've just laid on top of each other. Never bothered to cement them together, so if you even bump against them, some of the stones always fall down and I just rebuild. They had big branches falling down on them, so I knew the thing would be kaput. But they even rebuilt the little walls, as best they could.  Two people who walked by my yard while all this was going on, were so impressed with the results, that they've already asked for the name of the company. To top it off, Annette said that they would send me the bill, and I could pay on line or send a check.  Simple as they could make it, and for the price they quoted me.  The trees and I are very happy.  Five stars, easy. read more
