After getting some Astro Burger down the street, my wife and I wanted some ice cream for desert so we headed down to the local Frosters Freeze to give it a shot. I was super excited to try this place the second I saw it thanks to the window ordering and faded advertisements, it was giving my nostalgia from ordering from Dairy Queen's on the East Coast when I was a kid. The menu here has a ton of different soft serve options, sundaes, and twisters (what they call blizzard) as well as burgers, hot dogs, and some other hot food as well. I struggled to pick something, but in the end I chose to order the Rocky Road Twister which is basically vanilla ice cream mixed with marshmallows, nuts, and a bunch of chocolate. Was this the highest quality ice cream I've ever had? Absolutely not, but this thing was delicious and I loved it. It's been a while since I had something similar to this, but this place was definitely better then Dairy Queen of places like it. Overall, Fosters Freeze is about to be in my ice cream rotation and stay there. The ice cream here was great, I love ordering from a window, and the staff did what I needed to do with a smile. Literally a hut/shack in the middle of a street. They are known for the soft serve and also the twisters where u can choose a mix in like Oreos or Reese's peanut butter cup. One option is the worms and dirt lol. They also serve burgers and fries but the fries reminded me a bit of the public school food I ate in elementary school... While in the area I wanted a Coke Freeze so I came across Foster Freeze and got one. Unfortunately, they did not have Coke freezes, so I got a Pepsi freeze, which was just as good. The service was prompt and the staff was eager to assist me. Cool atmosphere with small outdoor seating. Family and I love ice cream and there's very little places that have Reese's twisters and or blizzards. Well, came here for my favorite Reese's twister which did not disappoint, kids loved and gobbled up their chocolate covered vanilla ice cream cone. Another child said their Oreo cookie shake was a favorite. We tried their cheeseburgers, chicken strips and fries. Cheeseburgers definitely needed some more seasoning. I heard this is the original location. I'll stayed in the wood all my life and finally decided to walk here and try this place on a summer day. It wasn't too packed when I came. When I pass by this place it's always people here. I never saw this place empty. I ordered the chicken strips combo which came with fries and a drink. I also ordered an Oreo milkshake. Now the milkshake just didn't do it for me. It was more of a thin consistency than thick. Stopped by here exactly at 7:50 PM with a craving for ice cream since they closed the other location in Hawthorne, CA. As soon as my boyfriend and I walked up to the window an employee put up their closed sign so we left to continue our hunt to fulfill our a late night craving. However, once we exited out of the parking lot we saw the employee remove the closed sign and grill from the window to assist with a couple ordering at the window! After seeing this, we slowed down before leaving this franchise and inquired why the couple was allowed to order and not us. We were told that by the couple and employee that they are only open for ice cream which is what my boyfriend and I came for. This experience left us disappointed and not wanting to return back to this location. I believe that better communication and consistency with closing procedures considering that this establishment is does not close until 8 PM would go along way in preventing situations like this in the future. read more

Sadly this location and Torrance are the 2 remaining locations remain in our area.. the service is always good to stellar here. Case in point as I'm sitting here writing this review an elderly man in a wheel chair ordered food and could not open his bag of food. So one of the employees came out opened his bag for him so he could eat and drink his shake. Now that's service. Apparently this gentleman comes here often and they do this for him every time.. melts your heart for sure. The noise level is loud here because of the proximity to the street, so don't expect a quiet environment. Accidental and great experience. My wife was coming to pick me up from UHaul across the street. UH closed for the night, so I came here to wait and decided to have dinner.
