Ace Roofing - Colonial Red Standing Seam Roofing

Ace Roofing

I thought I had reviewed them before but I had not. A year or so ago I was having an issue with…read morewater seeping into my fireplace bricks. Ace discovered that the prior roofer(2017) had failed to seal a gap between the shingles and the edge of the chimney. The roof that was replaced was two layers, and when it was replaced with one layer, that left an inch or so gap between the shingles and and chimney, which they failed to seal and also failed to install proper flashing so that water would drain away from the chimney. Ace repaired the issue and their price was very reasonable. Recently, I noticed paint cracking and dampness in a ceiling. I called the company that installed the roof-as it is nearing the end of the warranty. They sent someone who said he saw nothing wrong, and claimed they might need better ventilation. He said someone would call. No one did. I called Ace, he went up and saw the source of the problem, a bullet hole-likely there from someone's errant New Year's celebration. He fixed the issue within 15 minutes. Ace is responsive, and most important, he acts with integrity and his assessments are credible. Irrespective of 'warranties,' I trust him and will always call him first.

I also asked him if my roof had sustained wind and hail damage and again thoroughly explained what the shingles would look like if they had. (A previous company suggested I had damages that should be put through for an insurance claim, which would be fraudulent.) My roof was fairly new when I purchased my home a few years ago, but if I need repairs or a new roof in the future, my first call will be to Ace.

T&R Roofing - Architectural shingle roof repair

T&R Roofing

Story time about TNR Roofing aka T&R Roofing. Contractor is Ronnie Moore and GF or Partner in crime…read moreTheresa Stergo. I found them on Facebook while looking for some competing roof/chimney bids. Figured I'd call and get an estimate for a chimney repair and small amount of shingles replaced after the wind took them down. Ronnie answered the number plastered everywhere and sounded knowledgeable and his prices seemed reasonable. I wasn't looking for much. He and Theresa, (I assume, woman who was present during the work but I never spoke with), came out, gave an estimate and said he could go grab materials and get it done today. He also said he would offer a "roof warranty" after doing a thorough assessment, fix any nail pops, gutter flow issues, etc. Altogether the price wasn't cheap, but felt appropriate, (given the work was solid). I also asked him to replace a vent boot. No payment until work was done, and he provided a "contract." Well, the work wasn't really superb but I felt it worked well enough and the warranty was a large part of the cost. My roof is getting older and having a guy on speed-dial for small fixes was worth it. Anyway, after he was done we chatted and things seemed mainly in order, so I paid him via Zelle and Cashapp since Zelle imposes limits for new transfers. Anyway, a day or so later I went outside and found to top half of the chimney cap he installed in my yard. I also saw how the nailheads in the repairs were reflecting sunlight, meaning they were all exposed. I also climbed on the lower roof and saw issues that even I knew weren't great for water infiltration around the boot. Ronnie replied to my text about the cap very apologetically and said he'd be out the next day. He also claimed the nail heads weren't a big deal because they are "sealed from underneath," but he agreed to caulk over them per my request. His messages also always showed read receipts, so I knew he was seeing all messages. None of the repairs happened and he never returned. Basically what followed was a few weeks of back and forth texts and excuses. This culminated in a text about an injury Ronnie got on another job. It was a photo with a mildly bloody forehead claiming he was hit by a ladder and once he was out of the hospital he would be back. I continued being understanding and cordial, (I know what a bad concussion feels like). After this he stopped replying, (but reading all messages). After another 2 weeks I sent a message explaining how this silence was a problem, etc. An hour later my phone rang. It was Theresa. She was very apologetic and explained the injury Ronnie sustained had been causing them a lot more problems than initially thought. She said in 1-2 more weeks they should be back and getting me taken care of. This appeared like a green flag at the time... So I gave them over 3 weeks. Resumed texting, but no replies, (read receipts still there). After 2 weeks I messaged Theresa via the number she called from. No reply but saw the read receipt with her as well. After another week or 2 I decided to call. Ronnie's phone went to VM, but Theresa picked up! She sounded confused, didn't remember the job but said she would look it up and call back. She claimed she was in Cleveland with her mom in the hospital. Her tone of voice seemed mostly indifferent, almost bothered. After the call, I noticed her read receipts disappeared. Based on this and her tone, (and literally everything else up to now), I knew I was blocked and I would not hear from them again. I also looked further and noticed the weird inconsistencies in their name and graphics/logo, etc. The phone number is associated with a few different people, at least in the past. Both Ronnie and Theresa show up on cashapp, Ronnie on Zelle, but some other name from years ago shows on Venmo. I've reported them wherever I can and am looking into other avenues. Obviously DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. I may be able to get after them as I think they're fairly new to this grifting game... but we will see. I have a ton of "receipts," and these people need stopped before they hit too many others.

I do not recommend this business. They are posting on Facebook that they do roofing, car body…read morerepair, asphalt repair. I hired them for car body repair and the work not great and the guy was pretty emotional about being paid and being very disrespectful.

Newman Roofing - The Newman Family

Everyone and his brother out here is getting a new roof and new siding. Yes there was a hailstorm…read more a few months ago but in general, I just don't trust roofing companies that go door to door after a storm. People get taken in with promises of a free roof. Well depending on the age of your roof, your roof may actually not be covered very much. Plus your insurance will likely rise with a claim. This is why it is important to seek out a competent, reputable, established company like Newman Roofing. Since I wake up every day to the incessant roof replacement noise, I decided to have Newman check out our year old roof. There are 3 of them- house, separate garage and gazebo. Our gutter guards took a hard hit. All esthetic, no need to replace. The roof is fine. It probably helped when last year, for very little more in price, we opted for a better shingles- one step down from the best and only because we needed green. Rich was the person that fully inspected us. Honest person, honest company. While they are based in Sunbury, they go out in a 90 minute radius. Just call and see if they will do your roof. And after the job is done, your lawn will be spotless. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Of the roofers I contacted, they were the only ones that communicated consistently…read more They were here a few minutes early for both the estimate and repair. They sent a drone to do the high-level roof inspection, then went up to look at the area they suspected was the problem before giving me the estimate. The work was done quickly and they showed me pictures of each step when they were done. They seem to have a very sound scheduling and communication process. The price was reasonable as well.
