Great experience when they installed my roof almost 10 years ago. Since then, in a relatively short period of time, I had to call them because of leaks-leaks through the kitchen exhaust fan onto the stove, leaks through the water heater exhaust vent onto the basement floor, leakage/seepage through my chimney bricks, shingles not properly aligned with my gutter-such Of those 4, they only properly corrected two issues The 5th time was prior to July 4th this year when I noticed a place in the ceiling paint that appeared and felt damp. Called them. The person who came on the 1st was nice, went on the roof, said he saw nothing. Looked in the crawl space from a ladder--he didn't go in, and said it was a condensation/venting issue-they installed the roof vent when they installed the roof, and that someone else from the company would follow up. Emailed them on the 13th about the f/u. No response. Called another company. He went up took photos and there was a bullet hole in the shingle. He repaired it immediately. As the 614 inspection was done before the 4th, and I noticed the dampness in the ceiling before the 4th, the hole was likely there on the 1st when he said there was nothing wrong. Even if the roof warranty would not cover that kind of damage, it would have been nice to have received accurate information on the 1st, so that I could have had it repaired. It is probably good that they didn't follow up because I might have ended up spending unnecessary dollars to 'ventilate,' when ventilation was not the source of the problem. Nevertheless, since it is so close to the end of the warranty, I question whether they didn't follow-up because they didn't want to honor the warranty. To me, properly diagnosing and correcting 2 out of 5 issues after installation-4 within the first 3 years of installation, that are directly related to properly sealing the water heater vent pipe, properly installing flashing, installing the appropriate kitchen exhaust vent or properly aligning the edge shingles isn't stellar performance. As I have learned the hard way, there's more to roof installation than nailing on shingles. read more

I want to begin this review by saying that I am not a customer of this business, but did have them provide a quote for new roof and gutters on my house last week. My review is of the quoting process itself, and the intense pressure, verbal abuse and attempts to shame me into filing a claim with my homeowner's insurance company to replace my almost 30 year old roof. I knew that my roof was old and needed to be replaced, and I have had several companies provide quotes during the past two months. Pricing varied widely between the other 3 quotes I had gotten, so I wanted one more. I contacted 614 Exteriors as a result of a search of providers in my area, and they called me promptly. The owner himself, Keith, came to my house the following day and climbed up on my roof. He agreed that the roof was bad, and we discussed the potential replacement. It was a pleasant conversation, and then he mentioned that we could maybe make an insurance claim and have my homeowner's insurance pay to replace the roof. I said I would think it over, as I really had some serious misgivings about trying something like that. The roof was old, and I really didn't feel that the claim would be successful. Keith assured me that he had someone on staff who fought with the insurance companies all the time, blah blah blah. Keith said he would go back to his office and get a quote together, and he would email it along with pictures of my roof that he had taken by the following morning. That was Tuesday afternoon. By Friday morning, I still hadn't heard from anyone or received a quote, so I sent them a message asking if they were going to send me a quote. Within 5 minutes, the office manager called me and said she would get the quote together, and asked "this is an insurance claim, right?" I said, no, that I had thought it over and felt it wasn't the right thing for me to do. She said ok, and that she would have the quote to me later that day. We hung up, and within 10 minutes, Keith called me back and said that he couldn't believe I would not want to file an insurance claim, and that he would initiate a 3 way phone call with him, my insurer and me and then get my permission to take over the claim once I told them I wanted to do it. I said no. He then wanted to know "why not?" "who told you it wasn't right to do it this way?", all the while getting louder and louder until he was literally shouting into the phone at me. He then said that I must be "easily influenced by things I read and hear", and that he had thought I was an intelligent person, but he must have been wrong. Then he claimed I had "storm damage" to my roof (I don't, it is old). Then he asked (shouting), "do you work for your insurer, because you act like you work for them, since you want to protect them and not yourself!!!" I said no, I just want a quote for my roof. At this point, I was crushed, insulted, and stunned that anyone who might want my business would speak to me that way. I am still in shock over the whole thing, honestly. I am a senior aged female, and really just want to be treated with respect. To end the story, they did send me a quote later that day (no pictures of my roof were included, though). The really sad thing here is that I would have signed with 614 Exteriors, as their quoted price for roof and gutters was great. At this point, however, I would climb up there and replace it myself before I would give this company and its obnoxious, abusive owner my business. Please beware of this company if you don't plan to file an insurance claim, as there is obviously something in it for them that I really want no part of. read more

I called many roofers to come out and look at a leak my house is no more then two years old and they came out right away being way across town maybe a hour drive at the most to come look at the leak. He has all his equipment I was a little scared due to the roof I have doesn't have flat places but he went up any way. Couldn't find any blown off shingles. So inside he went to the attic crawled all the way back where my loft was found a leak it was a nail that missed a stud and created a small leak so he used some caulk to seal many of the holes he thought would leak went over some Of the things they do as a company good information sealed up the all holes and was on his way very polite willing to drive any where for business called four roofers that day and 614 came a long ways I appreciate everything they did and will be calling them for further business thanks for everything read more

I have never been so impressed. We had a full roof replacement on a rental property in rural Ross County and some gutter work on our own house in Columbus. Keith is a pleasure to work with - dedicated, honest, customer-focused. I have recommended him to everyone that mentions needing roof repair/replacement. Tyler and Keith killed it! Tore off my existing slate roof and replaced with shingle. $2000 less than the nearest bid for a job like that.. Keith called me while he was on vacation out of state to see what I needed in regards to my roof repair. I had a a large tree branch pierce my roof during a windstorm and there was other damage that needed addressed. As soon as he was back in town, Keith and Tyler came to my house and assessed the situation. My claims adjuster had already been out, but Keith found many other issues that he felt the insurance should cover (which they agreed to). Today, I had my beautiful new roof put on, along with a new gutter and fascia in the front. The crew worked so quickly; there was a team of 8 and they were phenomenal! In less than 8 hours, I had a new roof and then shortly after that, the gutter crew came and installed the new gutter. I have never worked with a contractor who was so professional and attentive to details! The crew came out and made sure everything was covered with tarps and protected. They were very careful about everything they did. When they left, you'd never would have known they'd been there. I'd highly recommend 614 exteriors for any roofing or gutter needs you might have. Keith, the owner, is a hot head! Before I signed a contract with him, he was yelling at me on the phone because I had done research into the quality of siding. Tyler, an employee from HIS company, wrote in an email that they use 0.4 gauge siding. While on the phone with Keith, he said they "used the best at .044" thickness. That made no sense to me and I asked for clarification. This is when he proceeded to degrade and yell at me. In Keith's own words he said "I've never had a customer do so much research. I'm telling you I'll put you in the best product and I will." Why would a contractor get so upset about a knowledgable potential client unless he had something to hide? Especially when his own employee admitted to using .4 gauge siding, which is not the best. He simply excepted me to trust him and not do my own research on the quality of siding. I would avoid Keith and his company entirely. read more
