The coffee was great!! My husband and I both ordered specials from their winter menu. The lattes were foamy, smooth, and had the perfect amount of balance of flavoring to coffee. The barista was kind and did a great job making our coffees. She also answered the questions I had about the drink menu. The inside was very cute with bar stool seating to see the street or more towards the inside of the shop. There are also little items for sale inside the shop which is very cute. I can't wait to come back and try a new latte!

We were making our way from Holland to Chicago and needed caffeine. This cafe is so cute! The baristas were super patient and friendly, we didn't feel rushed at all. it's been 3 weeks since our visit and my girls friends and I are still talking about that latte. Perfect temp, delicious and creamy especially on the rainy day. Can't wait to go back again

God damn I found this place. Well worth the 5 minute drive past Dunkin and other drive through places. Here I enjoyed one of the most meticulous pour over experiences I've ever had. I tried both the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and the Brazil. Both were beautifully roasted with great complex flavors. If you're on 94 traveling between Detroit and Chicago...skip the Starbucks and give fotre a try.

In a world obsessed with coffee I am an outsider preferring chai tea.  I am also in the minority in the belief that Starbucks shouldn't be the go to spot for hot drinks and a quick snack.  I always believed in small local businesses and Forté coffee fits great into the St. Joseph area.  The location could have made it a struggle because of all the other food spots near by but the fact it isnt a chain in a sea of fast food makes it the better and unique choice. I had been wanting to come in since I found out they opened but one thing or another always stopped me (mostly my husband being picky).  I came about an hour before closing on a Friday.  I picked put a chocolate almond scone and a chai tea.  With a small tip my total was still less than $10 which was great.  The 2 employees behind the counter were very cheery and the man even complemented my Bob's Burgers shirt (because duh, BB is awesome). The scone was ok, but not something I'd order again.  It was good enough to encourage me to try other things that would make my taste buds dance though, unlike some places where u taste something u dont love and just know everything is going to be like that.  The chai tea was right up my alley however.  Much better than any other place in the SJ/BH area.  The foam and cinnimon on top was great and the flavor throughout was delicious. Overall, I liked everything.  From the set up, to the employees to the available items everything seemed fantastic.  I'm so glad there is a great chill place in town for a socially anxious girl like me to get her pastries and hot beverages.  I'll 100% be back to possibly try a cookie and get another chai or maybe actually try coffee.

Delicious coffee! I originally wanted to come because of a yelp comment actually ! Someone was very enthusiastic about the coffee and traveling out of the way to try them. I was visiting a friend and helped her find a new place to get coffee! We got the Miel and it was perfectly flavored and combined! The service was top notch and provided suggestions as needed! It was a cute shop in a shopping center. I would totally spend time here if I lived closer! I also got some beans for a coffee snob friend of mine because it smelled so fucking delicious!

We finally visited Forte last weekend. Not sure what took us so long, but well worth it. I love perfectly made Matcha Lattes, and it was. No concentrate or sugary fake syrups and a variety of options for dairy and non dairy milks. It was heaven on a cold day. He had the Miel and it was also the perfect blend of expresso, foam, honey and cinnamon. Back in his college days, he worked in a high end coffee shop and knows good drinks and he said this was the best he had had in town for what he ordered. It is a little pricey, but these days, it is comparable to everywhere else (and tastes better IMO) and it's also local so there's a good reason as well. Although, the chains in town are owned as franchises, so we support them too. For us, it depends on what we are feeling that day, drink wise, but this is definitely worth the visit. Staff was friendly, love the vibe (even in a strip mall type area) and bonus points that they have a cool way of donating to our local humane society. They have and are expanding locations so we will definitely visit them more.

I ordered my favorite drink a matcha latte and it was delicious! Loved their milk alternatives and how prompt the service was!

Forte has a huge menu of all kinds of coffee drinks, which makes me sad that I live 45 minutes away from the nearest location. I couldn't pass up the featured iced s'mores latte. It was the right amount of sweet, without being syrupy. The marshmallow flavor was subtle and I loved the graham cracker crumbs on top. Non-dairy milk options are a little steep price wise ($0.80), but they have a good selection. The staff is friendly, and I love their passion for animals, inclusion, and equity.

Such a cute place with a huge variety of coffee and pastry options! They have 4 different type of milk alternatives so it's very vegan friendly! They have indoor and outdoor dining with friendly vibes and cheerful decor. Got the peanut butter cup latte and it was rich in flavor and delicious.

We ordered lattes, a ginger shot, and avocado toast with an egg over easy. My latte I ordered with lavender. So yummy! The portions were large. The avocado toast was okay. I would probably get something else off the menu. Everyone else's food looked amazing! Our avocado toast came with four pieces. The toast wasn't toasted. We weren't able to pick up our toast. Lots of avocado which was great. We added an egg, which really covered one piece of toast. I would probably go with the breakfast tacos or omelette next time. The people were so kind! There is overflow parking down the street. Easy walk.

The coffee tasted like ground asphalt mixed with cleaning solution, and the latte was completely undrinkable. To top it off, there were flies crawling on the big, beautiful muffins displayed by the door -- definitely not what you want to see before breakfast. For $25 for two coffees and two muffins, I expected something special -- not a science experiment gone wrong in a cup. The service made things worse. We felt rushed out the door as staff kept stopping by every couple of minutes to take something away -- a spoon, a knife, a plate -- each on separate trips. It was absurd. Aesthetically, Clifford's nails it. But between the awful coffee, the flies, and the constant interruptions, it was an expensive disappointment. Beautiful place, but we won't be back.

The menu has so many interesting and tasty options that it makes it hard to choose what to order first. I got the steak bowl, which comes with an egg and plenty of sautéed peppers, onions and potatoes. Highly recommend. Even the drink options are exciting. Locally made cherry limeade?! Yes please! The ambiance is warm and welcoming, the staff is friendly. Even though you are in the middle of an open-concept business collective, the layout of the restaurant space makes you feel like you are in someone's giant, awesome home kitchen and you can watch as your meal is made. It took me a moment to put my finger on it, but this place gives you the reassurance that your meal is being made by people who enjoy good food. As someone who loves to cook and is on the tail end of a road trip, this was the most relaxed and enjoyable meal I've had in a while. I enjoyed it on so many levels. The restaurant is tucked away inside of a bigger collective of stores, one of which is Dad's Farm, a little grocery with a nice collection of packaged and frozen locally sourced foods. There are other shops in the collective including a coffee shop, brewery, cheese shop, wine shop, and gift shop with great art, cards, jewelry and other clever gifts. It's a nice group of shops where you can pick up some great souvenirs. A quick note about the entrance to the collective: it was not obvious to me, though I might have missed some signage. I was looking at the map on my phone, was on Pleasant St, and passed by the whole thing several times. I almost gave up trying to find it, but I could smell good food, so I finally took a chance on a tinted door near a coffee shop and was happily surprised to find I was in the right spot for Dad's Cafe as well. Give Dad's Farm and Cafe a try, I think you'll really enjoy it!

The food here is ok but apparently they want to lose a customer over refusing to refund an item…read morethat was not given, like I don't spend enough in their expensive store on a regular basis anyway. Or, I did. This person must really need 50 cents badly to actually ignore a customer and to refuse a refund. Your business will not last if you do not have the management skills to back up cooking skills. And this is a small area. When a customer asks you why you charged them something, they are not just asking. It is theft. I expect an answer when I ask that question. My receipt clearly shows a custom charge of 50 cents, for a side of sauce that I did not receive. It was actually supposed to be a dollar because I ordered 2 sides. I sent a message and was told that I was not charged, end of reply. I replied that I was. Instead of sending a refund, they sent me a copy of the current receipt that clearly shows a 50 cent custom charge on it. I am not the blind one here. I messaged again asking what the charge was for, if not for the sauce. No reply. I am also tired of tipping on takeout just to have no one check the orders and for it to go out wrong, no more. What is the tip for? It was 2 items, juice, and some sauce, not hard to get right. Tip in cash only if your order is correct. A normal response would also be to apologize for getting the order wrong to begin with. I have not received another response or a refund so I take it that they feel entitled to take money for items not given. It is not about the amount of money, just the audacity and bad business practices. Shameful behavior. There is nothing special about the menu here so something better will eventually take its place.
