Each time I go here I seem to have issues. Most with getting my meals. Recently a large party of ours ordered and they forgot drinks and appetizers of ours. Last night, it took 20 minutes to get one spring roll, and then when my friends meal came, mine was no where to be found. After about 7 minutes of waiting, I asked the manager if my meal was coming out and he said he was going to check on it (after mentioning "tomorrow" in a joking way. After going to the lobby for 5 more minutes, he finally headed to the kitchen and came back and said "1 minute". Each time I have had an issue there is never any "sorry" or "apologies". Waiting for more than10 minutes while your friends waits to eat with you is nonsense. The food is fine, but its not great. In my opinion, if the food is not worth dealing with bad customer service, I wont be back. read more

I got the Buddha's surprise a couple of weeks ago and it was really...really good. Lots of fried tofu, a great mixture of veggies, and a nice little bit of sauce. Yesterday it was like an entirely different dish. Just a couple of small pieces of tofu and 90% of the veggies were broccoli. It was awful. read more

What the heck... How does a Sequim Chinese Restaurant cook better than other restaurants in Seattle? Something is fishy, but not here. Every time I cross over to Sequim for a short weekend trip, I'll hit up fortune star. Being Chinese, I have a high standard and looking at the menu they have, everything is Americanized. That's when speaking Cantonese comes into play, you ask what else they have and they'll give you the good stuff. Although the food sometimes comes out a little salty, I overlook because the dish makes up in terms of flavor and freshness. Everything I've had so far at fortune star has been perfect and I've had zero complaints about anything. The restaurant is clean, and the wait staff are friendly. What more could you ask for in Sequim? 5/5 always coming back for more and you know I approve when I go to a restaurant more than once. read more

Absolutely a perfect experience!! The service here is AMAZING! We did not go 5 minutes without a refresh on our water, tea, or the next dinner entree. The waiter even offer to move us to a shadier spot once the sun set and was in our eyes... very considerate. I typically like most chinese food, but this was better than almost any I have had before. This is the best Chinese food I've ever had, I'm shocked that it's in Sequim. Just about everything is really, really good, and affordable. The spring rolls are thin and crisp, and served with a sauce that compliments them perfectly. Any stir fry with a brown sauce is a winner, the sauce is sweet and savory and simply the best I've ever had. The steamed pot stickers are just great, I don't know how else to describe them. The broth that the Won Ton comes in just hits the spot. The chow mein is great as well, kept simple with soft noodles, a perfectly balanced sauce, garlic, whatever meat you chose, and scallions. I haven't ordered anything from this restaurant I don't like. I wish I could find a place in Seattle this good. As far as price, most things are $7-10, with some of the dinner items being $10-15. It's been a few months, but I dont recall anything over $20. read more

Would that you were not a ferry ride away! This is some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. Granted, my experience with Chinese food is limited to the offerings of a hole-in-the-wall Cantonese place in my hometown and a few other establishments in the PNW but this was very good! I highly recommend the baby bok choy with loads of chopped garlic and the nine-flavor beef. This last dish was something I've never had before and reminded me a little of Thai (I think it was the basil). The restaurant had a relaxing atmosphere and very friendly service. Found this restaurant by searching yelp. The place had a steady flow of customers all night. Service was efficient; friendly and fast and the food was really good. My kids had orange chicken and chow mein while I had hot and sour soup and seafood curry. They really accomodated our desires for a variety of spiciness. I'll defintely go back. read more

We had lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Excellent Enchanted Pork, Mongolian Beef, and soups ~ on par with some of the best Chinese cuisine I've had. Ambiance is also nice and the staff is friendly. One item of note, they do serve full bottles of wine :) Their menu does not advertise this. We'll back back soon! This is the first time at this place. It was very nice inside, not overdone and very neat and clean. Sometimes Chinese food can taste like it's been around all day, not here. The food tasted freshly made and very flavorful. The won ton soup was great and the sweet and sour chicken fantastic. The only part that was below my taste buds was the kun pao, it was fine, but not as fire-breathing hot as I like it. I like to sweat while eating it. But, it was very tasty. read more

This past Sunday, we ordered dinner to go and we're told it would take 25 mins. We showed up after about 30 mins and were told that our food wasn't done. We waited another 10 mins, then we're told it wasn't done. I asked again 10 mins later and we're told that one of the items we ordered wasn't available. It took this long to tell us this, especially after waiting so long. Once we got our to go order it was cold and the food was bland. This is the second time we've had a bad experience. Another Sequim field trip, this time for Chinese, based on rave reviews. I think it was fine - nothing bad, certainly, but also nothing exceptional. I had the mu shu duck, which was something new to me - I always see it with pork or chicken, and not with duck, so I couldn't turn that down. Duck was tasty, veggies good, standard thin pancakes. Like I said, fine, but not exceptional. Others reported good cashew chicken and good spicy General Tso's chicken. I guess - I would say this is a different style from SoHo, and probably as good, perhaps a bit better than any of the other Chinese places we've tried in Port Angeles. Was it worth the (admittedly not too long) drive? Mmm...maybe. I still like trying something new every once in a while, so it's at least a change from the normal. read more

We started (this was lunch) with the BBQ Pork appetizer. It was swimming in sauce. What the...? I think it was oyster sauce, but in any case, it was not the succulent slices of bare porky goodness I have always had when ordering this dish. I had the almond chicken, which was bland and limp. Great Chinese food! I had low expectations given that we were in a small town. + sole fillets in clay pot. Very tasty and perfectly cooked with lots of vegetables + shrimp dumplings were yummy + good hot and sour soup + served us even though we came in 30 min before closing. Good Chinese restaurants are hard to find, especially on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. However, there is one exception -- some of the best Chinese food my wife and I have ever had -- in Sequim -- the Fortune Star Chinese Restaurant. The food is always fresh! The spicy dishes are marked, and they are all delightful! We live in Port Townsend, and will drive the 40 miles on a dare to have lunch, and a second order of take-out for dinner later at home. One dinner plate feeds both of us two full meals! I've read a couple of recent nay-sayer reviews on yelp*! These reviews are fallacious at best, and trolls at worst! Judge for yourself! You won't be disappointed! We certainly have never had a less than exceptional meal in over a dozen recent visits! read more

Average American "Chinese" food experience. I got the Mongolian beef which was good but also I feel like the beef probably came frozen it had the mall food court soft texture. Also got the sesame chicken and yummmmm but they did put a little too much sauce on the plate. But hey, rather too much than too little am I right? Anyways, 3 stars cause it was basic. Tonight I called to place an order just after 8:30. I was told they close at 9. I said im sorry I didn't realize the internet still says 9:30. She hung up on me mid sentence. This used to be my go-to restaurant in Sequim. Until they started to cut back on the amount of shrimp and scallops in their seafood curry. They must have lost their good-cook, because the seafood is now over cooked. (see my review for Tendy's) It's too bad there aren't any filipino restaurants in Sequim. This restaurant used to be very good. Yesterday we order moo shu pork to go and specifically requested mandarin pancakes instead of flour tortillas which they have used in the past. We even asked again when we paid. When we got home and opened the containers, there were tortillas. Tortillas are fine for wraps or burritos, but a little thick for moo shu. Luckily, I had some frozen mandarin pancakes and we were able to enjoy the pork with the appropriate light and delicate wrapper. It was disappointing to have to prepare the pancakes when we had planned on a take out meal. Perhaps the management has changed, or the chef is cutting corners, but it is not a good sign. We will look for another Chinese restaurant in the future. read more
