I enjoy having lunch at Fortune Star. I usually order either the chicken or shrimp with cashews. There is a generous amount of shrimp and cashews and enough for my dinner as well, all for $7.95. The vegetables are fresh with just the right amount of crunch. I like the shrimp that is not overcooked. Service is prompt and friendly. since the dynasty is closed on sunday we tried here! very pleasantly surprised! hubby had sizzling seafood and loved it! hot and fresh and they prepared with no onions too. My wife and I enjoy going here about once a month - like the other reviewer I tend to go for a combination dinner and leave with a box and a full belly for ~$14 - the guy who seats you is a bit unsettling but the normal waitress is very nice and attentive. It isn't my favorite place in Sequim - but I do think the best Chinese food in town can be found here. Lunches are the ticket for cheap - quick service and lower prices. read more

I have never been disappointed at Fortune Star! Today we had twice cooked pork, garlic broccoli and sesame chicken lunches. Also pork and cream cheese won tons. $31 and enough to feed four! This is the closest thing I've ever had to Chinese food in San Francisco's Chinatown. So very delicious! If you are ever driving through Port Angeles or Sequim, do yourself a favor and eat at this hidden gem. read more

Nice ambiance. Delicious food. Polite service. GOOD service. Nice people. Eat here, and be happy. My wife and I have eaten here twice in the past couple of weeks, and love the place. I wish I could recommend what to eat, but my wife does all the ordering and I just do the eating. It's all good. Another review I read compares it favorably to San Francisco's Chinatown food, and I agree wholeheartedly. What ever you do, don't eat at the "Krush" on the corner of Old Olympic Highway and Sequim-Dungeoness. That place is a one-star loser. read more

Stopped by here for dinner after a day of hiking in the Olympics. I usually don't go to a restaurant that hasn't been reviewed if I can possibly help it. Good variety on the menu (they offer lighter and not-your-typical-Chinese-restaurant choices) and the ingredients seemed to be quite good quality. Had the Cashew Chicken, Baby Bok Choy, and Nine Flavor Beef. Not sure if there were actually nine flavors. Beyond my skill. The main fault was the fried rice. Had a sort of soy sauce look & taste to it which you encounter in some of these restaurants, rather than the lighter sesame oil, fried egg, and ginger flavor which I prefer. However, I will be back to eat here in the future when I am hiking in the area, and it is certainly worth taking an initial evaluation trip if you are hungry for Chinese. read more

Excellent! The dry-wok green beans were amazing! The salt & pepper squid was a little bland but still fresh and not oily. Then we had crisp duck that was super good and not gamey and the enchanted pork. All very delicious! Service was a tad bit slow but they were very busy. We were stopping by Sequim to kill some last minute time. Then we searched on yelp to find some Chinese restaurant for lunch. To be honest I wasn't hoping too much on getting authentic Chinese food in a little island town, but the food was actually not bad. Their hot and sour soup was good, and they even had some lamb kabob! The dishes can't be called as real Chinese food but it's not that 'americanized' either. And of course, their prices are good! read more

I've only been here for lunch, but it's one of the better Chinese restaurants around. Lunch portions are huge so I almost always have enough to take home. They normally love to put a ton of ginger onto all of their dishes for some reason so I have to ask them not to do that. You also get soup and I've only had hour and sour soup and it's really good. Best Chinese option in Sequim By Far !! I get takeout here every other week or so but could eat here every day. The service is formal ,friendly and efficient. Most of the time I get the Mongolian Chicken and it is soul cleansing good !!!! The veggies are cut in uniform, the all white meat chicken , the scratch made sauce that is actually made into a sauce (unlike some others I have had in the area) , the aromas of the peppers and fresh veggies along with the attention to detail they put in make this my favorite dish in Sequim. Bypass all other Chinese restaurants in town for this one, you're wasting your money if you don't. read more

This was the worst restaurant experience ever! We had a party of eight for dinner and ordered 10 entrees and several appetizers. One friend and I decided to split the Salt and Pepper Squid we ordered there (and other places) in the past. Service was extremely slow for a Thursday night and all the appetizers finally came at the same time. The Salt & Pepper Squid tasted of neither salt nor pepper nor any flavor at all. Someone forgot to season it. When we got the owner/waiters attention he kept trying to tell us that was the way it was supposed to be, and we kept telling him that we had had it before and "no, this wasn't as it should be." He finally took it back to the kitchen, sprinkled on some salt and brought back barely warm squid. I informed him that we did not want the dish, as it wasn't prepared properly, and we would not be paying for it. The owner said, "Oh yes you are. You ordered it, you're paying for it!" To which I replied, "That's a nice way to do business," and he, believe it or not, said, "We have Too Much Business." Never ever have I been to a restaurant where you could not send a dish back, especially one that they screwed up. And we were surrounded by about twenty dishes we were paying for. I guess since Ha Long Bay closed in the last couple of weeks he thinks he owns Sequim. So, if you're thinking of going here, DON'T. They have TOO MUCH BUSINESS according to the owner--and it's definitely NOT because of the food. read more

The best Chinese food and service in Sequim. We eat there at least once a week. The food is always fresh and the flavored are wonderful. The service staff is friendly and efficient. The owner will remember your face and usually what you order if you go in more than once. I just can't praise this restaurant enough. We have never had a poor meal there. Pros: Place was clean, and service was fast and friendly. However I cannot recommend the food as the chow mein was bland lacking vegetables; the General Tso's chicken had soggy breading, and I always balk at Chinese restaurants that skimp on rice and just give you one tiny scoop. read more

I'm surprised at all the 4 & 5 star reviews. Service is pretty good and prices are reasonable, but the food is so-so. Had some tasteless soup, and a very mediocre shrimp dish. I ordered my standard sweet and sour chicken and pork fried rice, I have to say it was one of the best I have ever had! We are new to sequim and have had less that good food choices for quite a while before the move, the outside looks like a dump, but the inside is cute. The service could be a little better, every time they said something very quickly then walked away, us only understanding one word of what they said.. otherwise it would be 5 star from me. read more

I don't normally like Chinese food, but this place was actually pretty good. They're combination meals are a good value. You get a soup, dumplings & egg rolls, an entree, with white or fried rice. The staff were nice too. I liked the orange chicken that I ordered. It's also in a strip mall so after dinner you can look around at the other shops. I would go here again if I'm ever in Sequim. read more

We have gone here in the past and had received excellent service and food but our last experience was horrible. We had friends from out of town and showed up at 8pm. Our server was so annoyed that we were there. We were apologetic and assumed they close at 9 but found put later that they didn't close till 9:30. The bbg pork was old and tough. When we complained she started to argue with us. We have spent $100's of dollars here but no more. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. read more

I have never seen a Chinese restaurant that offers a large lunch special on a Saturday. 1 Entree with Fried or Steamed rice and soup for $7.95- $8.95. The service was fast and the food was delicious and best of all FRESH! . I don't know why we are having such a vastly different experience than others who have posted but so far we have been waiting an hour and have gotten one small entree with some rice and nothing else of our large order for five. No appetizers. No fried rice. Call me crazy but I enjoy my entrees together--after my appetizers. The food we did finally get was ok. Average with the exception of the sesame balls which just earned them one more star. I think this is much more focused on take out but they need to take care of their dine-in customers as well. read more
