We were somewhat worried about this. Our server was friendly. We asked for lots of lemons/limes with our water and got one slice of lemon each. She didn't really understand the concept of limes, but did go back and get us more lemons. I ordered the Tofu in Salt & Pepper, which is an appetizer, and my friends ordered the spring rolls, which were very nice, Chinese broccoli, and stir fry broccoli in garlic sauce. None of the dishes came with rice, which surprised us. The S&P tofu was spicy, crispy, and delicious. It had small pieces of red and green peppers and onions. It was also fairly spicy, so let them know if you want it milder. They slice the tofu fairly thin, which makes it easier to get crispy I'm sure. My friend's Chinese broccoli was also very tasty. It's not really broccoli but a type of kale with stems that has great health benefits. The stir fry broccoli with garlic sauce didn't have a ton of flavor, but it was cooked well. I really didn't taste much garlic in it, but it was bright green and crunchy. They make their own sauces in house and the yellow mustard was not as spicy as the ones you get pre-packaged. The sweet sauce for the spring rolls was very nice; I added it to my tofu, which went together nicely. The red chili sauce was more sweet than spicy. This was a solid Chinese restaurant, but it did not stand out amongst its peers, hence the 3 star rating.

The young man that served our water and brought our menus was decidedly not friendly; seemed like a teenager that was told to work the summer by his mom. lol. However, the woman that took our orders and waited on us was very nice. My friend and I ordered the yellow curry with tofu, and my other friend ordered the basil tofu. The lunch special comes with a small side salad, veggie spring roll, and a chicken-based veggie soup, which we sent back (we're vegetarian/vegan), but is smelled good. Both dishes were flavorful. The yellow curry was mild, as yellow curry is wont to be, and had big chunks of potatoes and carrots. They have an extensive lunch menu and seemed to be able to substitute tofu for any of the meat choices. Overall, a winner! (Sorry, I forgot to take photos!)

I didn't think the Vietnamese food would be authentic in Squamish but it was much better than I expected. The original pho had a clean broth taste. Wasn't heavy, which I prefer. The experience starts warmly, with friendly greetings on arrival and small touches like the charming water containers brought to the table. The dining room also offers a pleasantly private eating experience, complemented by attentive, quality service. On my first visit, I noticed there was a bit of a wait for the food, but it quickly became clear why. Everything was being prepared fresh. From the dining room you could hear the confident knife work coming from the kitchen, including onions being meticulously sliced thin for several of the dishes. I have tried a number of items from the menu, with the spicy hot chicken remaining my favourite. The extra few minutes of waiting has always been justified by the quality of the meal, particularly the texture, coating, and bite of each piece of chicken. One small opportunity for improvement would be the window presentation. The restaurant is fortunate to sit in a beautiful location, but some of the large signage blocks what could otherwise be an excellent view of the Chief. I would recommend Blue House to anyone looking for a good dose of spice or a quality family style meal. The food feels freshly prepared, generously presented, and consistently satisfying, with the added benefit of a more private dining atmosphere and consistently good service.
