The food is very flavorful and generous, and I really appreciated the classic interior dining room and exterior signage. read more

Amazing dumplings and curry noodle soup!! Best I've had in the area. Will be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love love loe the teriaki steak meal with extra teriyaki sauce, i always grab a few torillas and eat it like stir fry. Its a biot pricey but only because they cook the steak fresh and its a good cut of meat, i also love getting extra vegiies mianly broccoli as they steam that fresh as well. read more

Crave their sesame chicken often, their egg rolls are great as well and that apricot sauce they give you... whew that's yum! I make sure to fill in all the air pockets of my eggroll with that sauce, that's slappin! It's sad to always see no one in here because I would hate to see this place close, they are definitely the best Chinese place in this small town. Interior definitely needs some remodeling and if they did I feel like they could really bring in a lot more business. Cushions on the booths are torn up and it's mostly booths in there. I was really disappointed too when I asked for a coke and they brought back a can and then when the bill came they charged me $3 for a can of coke! Not a good look fortune house. read more

Fortune House Restaurant - Sesame chicken combo - Chinese Near Me - Owosso, Michigan

my boyfriend and i stumbled upon this place on a saturday afternoon and it was seriously amazinggg. our waitress was great, the food seriously impressed us, and the atmosphere is a pretty good vibe. it was a very chill setting but i love the couches and decorations and the food is worth the visit. i've never seen this place but i believe it's very underrated and i will be back again. :) the face in the photo is hidden for privacy but here's an idea of what the food looks like sorry it's not very good as it is half eaten. read more

Fortune House Restaurant - dumplings - Chinese Near Me - Owosso, Michigan

Best Asian food in Owosso. Family owned and some of the friendliest service around. So far they're still take-out only since COVID but you can't beat the selection. Recommend the pad thai and their fresh summer rolls. Watch for their farmers' market booths in Owosso and Okemos (at the Meridian Mall) read more

This is basically the only Chinese restaurant in the area, other than Jade Buffet, which is obviously a buffet place. We've been going to Fortune House for many years, and I don't know if it's the pandemic or what, but their quality has dropped from mediocre to downright poor. After last night's experience, I've reluctantly removed their phone number from my contacts list. For the second time in a row, the chicken was absolutely inedible. We ended up throwing most of our food away, and they're not exactly cheap. I've tried a variety of their dishes, and they're usually ok if one has a Chinese food craving. However, it's not ok anymore and we'll have to eat Chinese food when we're out of town from now on. I'm saddened by this because we like to give the local places our money, but we won't be giving them a third chance. read more

Fortune House is a mainstay whenever we visit Owosso. This last visit was no different....the Pad Thai, the Sesame Chicken, and the Almond Chicken are family favorites! read more

So, I've been ordering from this restaurant for many years, and, it's always been very good...until now. This is not to say it was bad, but it was the worst I've ever gotten from Fortune House in Owosso. The Hot/Sour Soup was 90% broth with no 'heat' and only a few green onion bits, whereas, normally it is hearty and spicy like I prefer. The Shrimp with Pea pods was terribly over cooked and the Vegetable Lo mein seemed like it had been made yesterday. The eggrolls were fine. I will order from this place again, but, this time, it was a very disappointing experience. read more

I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews first but AVOID AT ALL COST. My wife is now having food poisoning from her meal here. We got take out as it's close to the public but looked bad inside. Almost no lights and that should have been my first clue for them to save money, also on costs on food by I guess skipping corners. The Rice was HORRIFIC tasting and my chicken was DRENCHED in Sause that was not General Chicken, tasted funny and not like General Chicken, the Egg roll tasted like it was from a freezer. All in all, we tossed out the food after eating some of it and WILL NEVER GOT THERE AGAIN... Save Yourself the pain and go someplace else. read more

4 of us ordered takeout. NONE of us had a decent, even edible meal. The previously yummy crab rangoon were tough and tasteless. The lo mein with vegetables contained thick, pasty noodles and NO vegetables. The beef with broccoli contained 3 soggy pieces of broccoli in the entire order and the beef was tough. The chicken with cashew nuts was inedible-everything was in small cubes=even the cashews-and covered in too much dark, tasteless sauce. The shrimp with brown rice was dry and contained few shrimp. Overall, it was $65+ of terrible, horrible food. NEVER again. Hopefully, if ever the restaurant reopens to dining in, the food will be palatable or the opportunity will be present to verbally complain. UGH! 12/4/21 read more

I agree with some others on here that it really has gone downhill. I used to love this place when I was in high school/college. I didn't realize the owners changed (some reviews on here have mentioned this, I'm unsure as I moved back during Covid so I don't actually see anyone in person) but dang, the quality of food has gone downhill. If you order take out their portions are small (for the price) and the quality of the food is not good. I'm disappointed because I just moved back to Owosso and was craving this. Well I gave it three tries and it got three strikes. I would rather just not eat it. It was also my moms favorite restaurant and now she is talking of trying out some different places- and she has loved it for as a long as I can remember. read more

Trash worst Chinese food ever. I live in Tawas my standards are not high. Ordered general Tsos got frozen over cooked banquet chicken drenched in barbecue sauce. read more

Great food, good service. Nice Chinese food, and the American portion of the restaurant is also excellent and will suit well someone when everyone wants to eat Chinese but them when choosing. Grilled Cheese = amazing. Perfect light golden crisp to the bread, not smushed like most places, perfectly melted cheese, golden crispy fries. Awesome rice, delicious buns, and egg rolls as well. Ambiance is very nice. Soft lightening, beautiful Asian decor and music, and even a glass case of trinkets and nice things you can buy, including sealed bags of their delicious fortune cookies. Can't wait to go again. read more

Great place for lunch. The general tso chicken is great. Can get it made to your spice level. They know how to make it super spicy. The eggs rolls are pretty good. read more

Came to this restaurant for an award ceremony. Only a small group. Took an hour for the food to show. COLD I ate here twenty five years ago. The food was horrendous then and it still is. Go anywhere else to get a better meal. The food is absolute garbage. The manager couldn't care less. The waitress was completely clueless. I ate two cold bites of the food and started to get a headache. Food loaded with MSG. Most of the people at the ceremony barely touched their food. Never again. read more

I called to place an order today and the woman I spoke with was very short with me. She told me it would be a long time before she could get to me. It was a very strange call. Needless to say I didn't place the order because they seemed too busy for my business. Disappointed read more

Honestly great food and great portions. You really can't go wrong. Friendly owners and waitstaff.

Very expensive for what you get. Serving size is almost comically small. The food was not very good. The egg rolls may be the worse I have ever had. Plus to top it off they charge 3.5% extra to use a card. Will not be returning to this place. To be honest very confused on how this place is still in business. read more

The food is absolutely incredible. If I were judging on food alone I would give 5 stars. The reason we stopped coming in was because of our usual waitress. She's a very nice lady but her body odor ruins the experience. You can almost see the green smoke lines as if she's a cartoon character. It's like in the old loony toons when the smell cloud turns into a hand and grabs them by the nose. The only difference is that this stink cloud turns into a fist and punches you directly in the face. read more

Great food but is not consistent. About every third time or so my chicken is over cooked, or they barely gave me any sauce on my general t'sos chicken. Service has always been excellent. read more

Our first time here was okay, nothing special. Our most recent visit wasn't great. We arrived on a Tuesday around 5:00, the place was quiet with maybe two other tables. It took a long time for us to get our food (about 45 minutes) and we didn't order anything complicated. Two General's Chicken, a Sesame Chicken, and a Sweet and Sour Chicken. The only things that stopped the kids from going nuts with hunger was the soup and egg rolls that came out first. The service is good in that everything was correct and she was friendly, but the wait was way too long. We won't be going back. read more

Wow such a change from my last statement. The prices are too much, just for me to eat there im looking at 16 dollars. Heads up fortune, your food isnt thT good to where you can rip me and my family off. I will not go back, look at china garden in perry for good food and price read more

Service was bad and the rest went down hill from there! It was my first visit there and my husband and I will probably not return!

Me and my wife ate here three times and everytime it was shit. The decor is dated and looks like everything was picked up at a goodwill trashbin. Prices are stupid high too. Will never ever go back. Easily the worst restaurant in owosso. If you want quality food go to jades, this place is fucking terrible read more

I am a Oriental food fan. Everywhere I go Chinese is my 'go to' food. Another Chinese restaurant in Owosso that just don't cut it. I ordered a simple dish, Chicken Lo Mein. The 'Lo Mein' noodles had to be spaghetti pasta, not like any Lo Mein I've had anywhere else. At least it wasn't greasy though. Seasoning was so-so. Chicken was freshly cooked. Wife had Sweet and Sour Chicken and she was happy with it. 5 stars for that but negative ONE for Chicken and spaghetti noodles = two stars in my review. read more

It's the best Owosso has to offer... so like it or leave it. The staff is always clean, attentive, and helpful. They have a few good dishes, my husband likes the General Chicken, I usually get the Pod Thai or Sesame Chicken. Everything else has been alright. We go when we need a 'Chinese' fix but don't wanna leave town! The restaurant is a bit dated and a little run down, but clean. They have a full bar. read more

Love this place and have been going here for many years...but the prices are going up and the quality and quantity are going down. There really is only one good server in the whole place and the owner seems rude. I hope the fortune house can turn it around and become what it once was. read more

This is the best Chinese place in Owosso. No, they don't always have the buffet like Jade Buffet does but the food is so much better and I've never gotten sick at Fortune House, which is more than I can say about the others in Owosso, two of which are now permanently closed and another temporarily closed due to BLACK MOLD. I absolutely love Fortune House's Chinese Vegetable soup, they make awesome crab ragoon, and their crispy noodles are amazing on top of their soups. Yes, they're a little pricey, but they are good. read more

This place had the worst food in this genre I have ever had. The Cashew Chicken was a huge mystery as to what the ingredients were and my husband's General's Chicken consisted of huge meatballs. Both of our meals tasted horrible. My friends loved their Hoy Sin War Bar and have eaten it regularly. It looked like the vegetables were prepared properly and looked edible. The service wasn't very good either. I didn't drive an hour for horrible food that I wouldn't even take home the leftovers. read more

I thought this place was an old treasure here in Owosso but the food has gotten old as well. A few months ago I placed my last order. It was take out. I'm certain most of it specially the crab rangoons were scooped off there buffet. After posting to them on Facebook I thought they would reach out but they haven't to any of the complaints so I'm not coming back and wouldn't recommend them. read more

My husband and I love this place. Almost every time we visit family in Owosso, we make sure to bring some home. Our favorite dish is the Braised Tofu Homestyle and their Crab Rangoons. read more

Been eating here since I was a kid and the food used to be excellent, but nowadays the food comes out quite under par compared to what they used to be. Before yesterday that still would not have warranted this review, but after our visit yesterday both my girlfriend and I have been sick today. We both had chicken dishes with mine being the general tso's and hers was the mandarin chicken. When the food came it looked rather good but had a funny aftertaste of gristle and bland chicken. I am not one to complain at a restaurant and it was far from the worst dish I have ever had but obviously something was wrong with the chicken if we are both sick today. read more

While the food quality is ok, the prices are pretty high for what seemed like small portions. Our waiter had our order correct, but I'm not sure how it could have been wrong when it took 30+ minutes to bring out 2 children's dishes, a sweet & sour chicken and a generals chicken. To add to the frustration no one at the table got a refill even offered until the check was on the table and we were done eating. I had to wave the bill and my card in the waiters face on his fourth trip past the table for him to take it and process my payment. For the price and lack of service we will not be customers here again! read more

Just another over-priced Chinese-American restaurant. Drove all the way from south-end of Flint just to try this place. Friend really hyped this place up so we finally ate there on March 19, 2016. Yes, his Sesame Chicken was VERY spicy as he ordered but I was totally disappointed in what I ordered. Don't order the Crabmeat Wontons if you're expecting any taste or hint of crab. Only thing that gave them flavor was the grease they were fried in. Soup was very tasty. Too bad it was the first thing eaten because it all went downhill after that. Totally disappointed in the Sweet and Sour Pork, the sauce was not homemade and totally orange in color that obviously came from a jar/can. You only get 6 pieces of meat for the lunch portion. And, I ordered the sauce on the side but dish came with Pork swimming in it. Ain't nothing like soggy battered Pork, Yuck! Eggroll was fresh but they use a lot if Kimchee and the smell was offensive and just too strong for my palate. So difficult these days to find an eggroll with just Chinese cabbage that's not fermented. Although there were only 4 other tables occupied, we waited so long for waitress that friend had to go seek her out so we could order. Prices are high because they have to pay for all of the nice hardwood furniture and they're located in prime downtown building. I will NOT be returning to this place. I've had better prepared food from a Chinese buffet which, is very generic and all tastes are adjusted for the "American" palate. Well not my American palate! When I go to a Chinese restaurant I expect Chinese food made the Chinese way with Chinese ingredients. Guess I'll have to take a trip to China for that! (whatever happened to Kowloons in Flint? Now there was a place that knew how to cook Chinese food!! My palate misses you so much! lol) read more
