The eggdrop soup was watered down and not the best. 2/10 The egg rolls are hands down the best egg rolls on this side of the water!! Amazing texture and there's a whole shrimp inside. My husband LOVES the pork fried rice. It is full of flavor and super good. I've tried several other things (beef and broccoli, chicken and broccoli, and a few different combo meals). I wasn't really a fan but it is also not like most Americanized generic other Asian take out places. I ordered pork lo mein. The noodles were thing more like rice noodles, there were mushrooms which I was not used too. It was kind of bland and I had to add some soy sauce. I definitely say give it a try, I am not familiar with most of the items on the menu since they are not what I'm used too. So far ive only gotten carry out twice. The prices are a tad too high for the portions, but the food that i have purchased was delicious. Shrimp fried rice, beef lomein and egg rolls. Fortune Garden has been our go-to for years (We literally have been going for about 19 years). Now, that I live in Northern VA, Chinese takeout from Fortune Garden has been a ritual every time I come in to town to visit my parents. My husband swears he's never had take-out this good. I didn't realize how spoiled I was growing up until I moved away and it has been hard to find great Chinese take-out. We are in town and headed there now from Yorktown to pick up our usual order. I do not get the hype about this place. I haven't had Chinese food in over 3 years so I was very excited to finally have my favorite- general tso's and fried rice. I grew up on it from a local place back home so I had to choose a place around here based off of reviews, but it was a let down. I got a combo dinner, and the only menu I could find online suggested that the price would be $10-$11... try $18. Way more than any combo I've gotten from a Chinese spot like that. Had I known that when I called in the order, I wouldn't have ordered. I was told 20 minutes for pick up, I got there in less time and live two minutes away but yet the food was luke-warm by the time I got home and started eating. The chicken was decent, but the rice was rather bland and didn't have a lot of flavor. I echo another review I saw which stated that it's just white rice, as I saw several clumps of it. I would not order again. It was way over-priced for the quality of food that I received. read more

This is by far the very best Chinese food on the peninsula. Very attentive service, and pleasant atmosphere. We eat here regularly and when we don't feel like going out, we order takeout from here. We found this place several months ago when we traveled to the peninsula and were very pleased with the quality of the food. We stopped tonight (Sunday) because my husband was craving noodle soup on the way home to NC from Williamsburg. The menu said they close at 900. When we arrived at 7:35, we were turned away because they "close at 8:00". Very disappointing to falsely advertise your hours and then to turn away a family of 5 who would have spent good money in your restaurant. After this, we probably won't be back. read more

Was there last night with spouse. Restaurant was very clean. Their soft drinks come in cans so i can only assume no refills as they didn't ask if we wanted any. I ordered sesame chicken. Everything i have got sesame chicken before at other restaurants the sauce is golden with sesame seeds. The sauce here was black. Not sure if it was burnt, but it tasted sorta funny. Probably the worst Chinese food I ever had. I ordered the hot tea to drink. It smelled like a dirty dish rag, the kung pow chicken had no flavor and. The rice also had that funky smell. My friend also had the same experience. My wife had the sweet and sour shrimp and gave it 3 stars. She ordered the ice tea and it also tasted dirty and funky. Wow, What a breath of fresh air! Fortune Garden really surprised my family with not only the quality of their food, but the obvious freshness of the ingredients. All of the food was obviously prepared and cooked in house, as opposed to brought in frozen and heated up (like many Chinese restaurants). The prices were very reasonable and everything tasted great. My family eats at Fortune Garden in large groups on anything that resembles a special occasion. We really enjoy the food (fresh and flavorful) and the service which is pleasant and courteous. The restaurant is family friendly and has ample parking and seating. Not a fancy or pretentious place just a family owned business serving very good food at a reasonable price.
