From the moment I approached the entrance, the dark, gothic atmosphere, vintage artwork, old books, and unique decor immediately caught my attention. This is not a traditional sit-down bakery or café, so I went in knowing the experience is more about getting the famous cookies and taking in the atmosphere, appearance and taste of the infamous cookies. There can be a little bit of a wait outside, especially when it's busy, but honestly, I found the experience to be part of the fun. Inside, everything is incredibly detailed--from the creepy-but-cool portraits and antique-style displays to the shelves filled with Gideon's memorabilia. Even the signs and artwork have their own personality. It feels almost like stepping into a haunted library with a bakery hidden inside- move over Disney's Haunted House. Ok back to the real item, of course, there are the cookies. For my first visit, I'd say the wait and the hassle were worth experiencing at least once. Gideon's is definitely more than just a place to grab a cookie--it's an experience, and the atmosphere makes it memorable. I can definitely see why people make a stop at Gideon's part of their visit. The thai banana cookie from Summer House around the corner in Springs is not all it is cracked up to be either, but that one certainly is not 99% walnut by weight like this one. The cookies and cream Oreo slice was far better, which was mildly concerning that a cookie shoppe traditionally known for their "viral" cookies had failed so bad at cookies it was actually their CAKE that was the thing worth writing home about my experience. It is such a viral spot everyone is coming here for the experience to see a spot that a proper sickly Victorian-era child ghost could haunt. But smart customers get the cake, not the cookies. When you get the cake slice, verify that you have plastic cutlery and napkin before leaving the store, otherwise you are going to need to Kirby-inhale it. I'm not grossed out by that type of thing because if you know anyone with long hair, it just falls out. No big deal but I certainly didn't expect to see it on the seat I was sitting in. The tables and bases all need a thorough cleaning as well as other areas I noticed during our visit. I'd understand this a little more if I saw they were super busy and only had one person working, however, we were the only customers, except for two to-go orders and the one employee was sitting down on his phone when he wasn't helping a customer. Located off South Apopka Vineland Road on the Northbound side, Mango Mango is situated in a relatively new development and plaza (if you look at the satelite imagery from Google maps, it will still show undeveloped land as of June 2026). It's less than a 10 minute drive from the Disney Springs property, and about an 18 minute drive from Old Town/Fun Spot which is where we were staying for this particular trip coming from Tampa. As you arrive, you will find a spacious lot, however the actual parking spaces do appear limited (something to consider if you decide to have a large reunion here). Upon entering, you will find a very clean storefront and reception. Overall the store maintains a very neat and tidy appearance that is very welcoming and neutral when it comes to the varying demographics of customers. While we have been to Mango Mango before in a New Jersey location, this location provides a bit of table service (which we have not experienced prior) for dine-in which makes it a bit more intimate. The menu offers plentiful choices of sweets - from bowls with fresh fruits and ice cream, to your specialty drinks including boba. To call Mango Mango a boba shop would do it injustice, as this place truly shines as a hollistic dessert spot. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the selections. Each dish/drink is perfectly made to their own specifications. The best part is that none are overly sweet, which I feel is a crutch that most dessert spots experience. Highly recommend the mixed fresh fruit with sago and jelly! Wish this was in Tampa because this would give our usual boba spot a run for their money.
