The staff is not very welcoming, every time I go there theres must be at least 6 people behind the counter they all look at you like (thinking Uhhgg theres a costumer ..) I have reviewed the area blanca with cheese it sounds good but avoid it unless you was your jaw hurting from chewing so hard on an item that's should be soft and cheese. I've had the empanadas with chikeck and beef and they are alright. Nice addition to the loop west shopping plaza. Fortuna is located near the end next door to tj maxx. Great place to grab coffee, snack or a dessert when you're shopping. I was surprised to not see a line out the door as this place is usually booming with customers at all times. My favorites are the pandebonos, baked spinach and cheese empanadas, chicken empanadas -fried (hot sauce is a must), the corn cakes and the tres leches. Their desserts are so pretty and delicious. This location is much bigger than the location on John Young Parkway. It also has plenty of indoor seating in a nice airy corner location. They are open daily from 8 am - 8 pm. The staff was courteous. Although, I wish I spoke Spanish though as most are Spanish speaking only which makes it difficult to communicate and ask questions. There are no prices on the individual items which is frustrating. It would be nice to see labels in the display case with what the item is and the price. The food is amazing. I love the Colombian empanadas. My favorite are the beef ones. They are perfectly crispy on the outside with a delicious filling on the inside... meat mixed with a little potato. The sweet arepa with cheese is so delicious with the sweet and savory flavors. Unfortunately, the cheese they put on top was not melted. Apparently, I need to request that on my own? Also, they didn't automatically offer the (aji) sauce for the empanadas for an extra flavor explosion with a little kick, so make sure you ask for it. I was glad to hear that fortuna bakery opened a 2nd location near me. Haha. On our way out of town my bf and I decided to grab a quick bite for the road. We picked up a latte, empanadas and a Cuban sandwich. Their coffees are pretty good. I have only ever tried their empanadas. My preference is the Colombian ones. They have beef, chicken or cheese. They come with spicy salsa sauce. Cuban sandwich is a good portion. I eventually want to come back and try their sweet pastries. It's quick service. I'm very familiar with their Hunters Creek location and love all their yummy baked goods. So when I heard they were building one at the Loop I was ecstatic! Kinda dangerous for me because one of my doc offices is literally located a few minutes away soooo I treat myself afterwards with Fortuna's delicious beef empanadas and/or a pan de bono or pan de queso. Don't forget to request for hot sauce with the empanadas. I've had their pork belly and chorizo before too, both excellent. This place is more spacious with a fountain drink machine and plenty of indoor seating. They also have a breakfast menu, sweet baked goods, and fruit teas. Staff has been friendly. Plenty of parking since it's located in the same plaza as TJ Maxx. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards on Cash App and earn points for each dollar spent. Highly recommend trying this place out. I have been at their location at the Millenia Mall and I loved it, so I was looking forward to come to the location at the Loop. But the experience was not enjoyable at all! We ordered some cheese and chicken empanadas and they were horrible! They were soggy, oily, and soft instead of dry and crispy. The chicken was shredded in supper large pieces and the cheese was like a huge piece of cheese stuffed inside the empanadas... instead of shredded so it would melt when you fried it... horrible... we threw them away almost entirely. I went with my mom, who is very old (95) and has difficulties holding large glasses or cans, so I asked for a cup (a cartoon one, one of those used for coffee) and the answer was "we do not have cups to give away for free"... like I were walking outside and entered to ask for a cup! Crazy! I am a customer, I entered the store and bought food! Instead, I was given a TINY cup which barely held 3 sips of coke. Anyway, no more Fortuna for us! I am giving 2 stars to acknowledge the very friendly girls that helped me inside the store (except the cashier who was the one who told me she could not give me a cup for free). I come here all the time before going into tj max I left a review a few months ago of how great this place was yesterday I came in before returning some items to tj max and I was attended by a young guy with glasses super sweet attentive and recommended me new empanadas then the usual that I normally get unfortunately when it was time to pay I waited a good minute for the 3 girls to take care of my order for me to pay they saw me and continued to talk I didn't say anything because maybe it was something important they were communicating to each other as I was approached they made my chai latte and I saw them make it that was more milk then anything I didn't say anything because I had to try it of course before saying anything I go sit down and tried it and it just tasted like milk.. went back waited patiently all girls would pass me mind you they all saw me and none approached me or asked me if I needed anything I waited patiently because I myself work as a cashier I was standing there for a good 3-5 min (no line,not busy) until the guy in the glasses came to the register and asked is everything ok and fixed my chai latte couldn't get his name great employee! Of my goodness. I stopped in and was overwhelmed by how delicious everything looked. I asked the girl who was helping me, her name is Kelly, what her favorite was. She showed me this. I don't know what this is called, but it was flaky pastry crust filled with two layers of some type of cream, possibly a Bavarian cream and topped with caramel.
