I choose peace over violence and have never opted to engage in any type of career that requires the use or rationalization of violence like the military, policing, security, etc. I realized that being peaceful is not an excuse for being ignorant. I wanted to be better informed and know what the laws are in Maryland regarding firearms. I wanted to be informed so that I could make an informed decision regarding firearms policy and possession. The owner of Maryland Firearms and Tactical Training was my instructor and was a delight to meet and learn from. We had lively discussion during the class and he was so gracious throughout the day. He offered coffee, water, snacks, small breaks and even a ride to the range. The course is worth triple than what it costs. This course is hours long and includes a trip to the range to put into practice what you are learned. I learned so much! My instructor and I had a robust ethical and political conversation on the drive back as well, and even when disagreeing on points, he engaged with me respectfully and thoughtfully. He is a very intelligent, thorough and considerate business owner who I highly recommend.

I took the 2-day, 16-hour Maryland Wear and Carry course and was thoroughly impressed by Jen's deep expertise and genuine passion for the subject. I never felt bored or overwhelmed, and she cultivated a comfortable atmosphere where questions were always welcome. She has a remarkable talent for making complex material, especially Maryland's tomb of firearm regulations, both engaging and easy to understand. The course is a true one-stop shop. Jen simplifies the entire application process by offering on-site fingerprinting at cost and passport photos for free, and even provides individual assistance with filling out the HGP paperwork. The range qualification was conducted with the utmost safety and professionalism. Her instructions were crystal clear, and she provided excellent, patient coaching to those with less experience. As an added bonus, her training also qualifies you for permits in Arizona and Florida. If you are serious about getting your carry permit and want top-tier instruction at a very reasonable price, look no further. I will definitely be returning for future classes with her!

If you're considering firearms training and want something beyond the standard lane-at-the-range…read moreroutine, take a class with Miguel Bosch at Gun Commander. Trust me, you'll walk away sharper, more prepared, and very aware of how little most of us actually know when it comes to handling high-stress situations with a firearm. Miguel's background and credentials are exactly what you should look for in an instructor: deep experience, real-world credentials, and technical mastery. But let's be honest: that doesn't always mean someone can teach. Fortunately, Miguel isn't just knowledgeable, he's passionate about passing it on and actually cares that you're walking away with real, applicable skills (and a few extra reps to make it stick). I recently took his class focused on "shooting under stress", designed for civilians who may need to use a firearm in a defensive situation. We started by getting dialed in on "precision" shooting (shoot the correct number from close distance), getting "warmed up," as Miguel put it. From there, things got interesting: elevated heart rates, movement-based drills, and stress-inducing scenarios (as safe as one can get when bullets are involved) all came into play. It was eye-opening and incredibly well-structured. What stood out most was Miguel's ability to keep the session laser-focused on safety without watering down the challenge. He met every student where they were, novices walked away feeling empowered, and more experienced folks were clearly pushed to improve. By the end, we were mentally worn out but excited to come back for more. Personally, the class revealed some big gaps in my training. I had never practiced shooting from cover, or thought deeply about how to stay safe in a dynamic situation (outside of the paper-target-on-a-bench setup). These aren't just "nice to know" skills, they're the kind that could matter most if the unthinkable ever happens. Bottom line: if you have a firearm and a permit, taking a class like this is not optional, it's responsible. Miguel makes it accessible, challenging, and (yes) even a bit fun along the way. You'll laugh a little, learn a lot, and leave better prepared than you walked in. Highly recommend.

Tim is professional, efficient and offers quality training at Continental Arms. As as fellow instructor I also recommend many of my students to Defensive Firearm Consultants when they need specialized or more advanced training. Tim, along with Phil, provide excellent instruction for both experienced and new shooters. No matter what the class, you be getting a lot more than just the the basics. You will find a plethora of quality information on safe firearms conduct, shooting techniques, and self-defense strategies. Many other instructors overlook important parts of what you need to know in regard to self-defense and the legal ramifications of even legal "good" shootings. That is not the case with Tim and his staff. You will leave their classes with a strong sense of what is required to be a successful shooter, especially a solid concealed carry licensee. For what it is worth, do not be fooled by the lowest price or the shortest course duration. You deserve the best to develop and maintain your shooting skills. Your life is not worth skimping on cheap or quick training.
