It is definitely loud and a bit tight, but it gets the job done. The staff was friendly, patient, and very helpful the whole time. The retail shop is huge too, with tons of firearms and accessories to browse. We ended the night at their cigar and whisky event, and that was a great time. The whisky was strong and plentiful, and dinner was delicious. It was all catered in house by the cafe. Pricing is pretty reasonable overall. Their lesson rates seem lower than a lot of other places I have seen, although I have not had a chance to take one yet. My only complaint is that I wish it were closer. I live in DC, so it is definitely a trek, but it was worth the drive.

SCAM ALERT! I took…read moretwo days of classes mid September 2022, and was told that I would receive a copy of fingerprints and proof of class completion on the same day as the final class. At the time of writing this review, it has been FIVE MONTHS and I am still waiting on those documents, with no indication as to when or if I will ever receive them. I have unsuccessfully tried to reach out to Iota many times. On the (very) rare occasion that they have responded to any texts, emails, and phone messages over the past months, they claim they will send the files within the next day, which has always been untrue. The day one class was very disorganized. I was notified at 10pm the night before that the class was moving from the Iota facility to the HoCo fair grounds where a gun show was taking place. The class was in the main building, along with all of the gun show sales booths. It was very difficult to hear the instructors, and random people kept walking up to our class, which was very disruptive. Our class seemed like an afterthought to Iota, as they were more interested in promoting their company at the gun show than teaching the class that us students paid for. They had issues connecting to the internet, taking payment, and taking fingerprints. More of the class was spend sitting around waiting for them to resolve technical difficulties than actually being taught. The hands-on (day two) instructors were actually wonderful! After the instruction and range test, we all ended up sitting around for hours after the class waiting for them to finish whatever administrative work they said they were behind on due to the gun show the previous day. They didn't communicate how long we would be waiting around, so everyone was pretty frustrated around the 2-3 hour mark. It is a shame that there have been these administrative issues, and difficulty getting in contact with the office. Is anyone else stuck waiting indefinitely, or have you found a way to get in contact with Iota?

One of the few private gun clubs in the anti-gun state of Maryland. Berwyn is a wonderful place to…read morego and practice marksmanship. They have a lot of members from all walks of life, from hunters to law enforcement, casual target shooters to dedicated competitors. Despite recent pressures from Maryland legislation, Berwyn's membership remains strong and may even be growing larger as one of the few venues people can use for their hobby or career. The range itself is set in the woods of rural Bowie. Admittedly, it looks more like a Boy Scouts camp than a major high-tech range, but that's part of its charm. They have three "no sky" ranges, meaning there are baffles set to block any stray bullets that do not head down the range. A 50 foot, a 50 yard, and a 100 yard allow people to use whatever they need for their chosen firearms. As an outdoor range, you can expect to deal with weather and climate as well as insect life. I always check the forecast before deciding to head out there. As a private range, this is not accessible to the general public. To gain access you must send an e-mail asking about membership. Within a month, you will know if you are approved to join (I've never known anyone to be turned down). After that, you have access to the range, but must remember to follow all range rules, including proper safety, avoiding damage to the range, and cleaning up after yourself. If you're into firearms, for anything from hunting to marksmanship, and looking for a good range in the Prince George's and Arundel area, then I recommend looking into this place. Also the process seemed daunting, but the Academy streamlined everything making it easy to understand and achieve. DEFINITELY START HERE. Eventhough there was no class posted on the site that matched my very limited availability; after a pleasant inquiry phone call, Steve created instruction that fit my schedule. I didn't need to take time off of work. The class was conducted in a professional building along with other learners, complete with complimentary light snacks and water in a comfortable space with a personable guy combining PowerPoint and hands-on learning. He went over everything needed and I was able to ask questions (and literally knowing nothing) and practice - to not only be able to obtain my credentials but to feel comfortable and knowledgeable owning and operating a firearm- as a FIRST-TIME shooter! He is a super impressive shooting instructor, and I was able to obtain my Hand Gun Qualification License as well as my MSP-issued Handgun Wear and Carry Permit requirements.
