I'm very wary in purchasing things I know nothing about, in fact, I try to avoid it. Unfortunately,…read morethe only things I have sufficient knowledge of are makeup, hair products, clothes, and other girly things and in shopping for a Christmas gift for my boyfriend, such wisdom yielded no success. Toys. Boy playthings. Remote control vehicles. These are things I know nothing about. The last time I set foot in this space was back when it was a Millenium, and boy, did I stick out like a sore thumb as I waltzed in amongst the miniature cars, boats, airplanes, and the like. Not knowing where to begin, it wasn't long at all before an associate greeted me, pulling me out of my dumbfounded haze. Right off the bat, the sales associate asked me what I was looking for, who I was buying for, and what my price range was. I knew that I was looking for an RC vehicle of some kind, and that I was prepared to spend a pretty penny, but nothing ridiculous. Instantly, the associate advised me against the larger, more expensive models, and led me towards the beginner-friendly, moderately priced products. He gave me all the information on flying time, how the controls work, range of flight, etc (all of which promptly went in one ear and out the other side) before providing me with a demonstration of the model I ended up purchasing. But still I had one problem. One more hurdle that stood in the way of my joyous gift-giving, and that hurdle was orange. Orange. The only color helicopter they had left was orange, my arch nemesis as far as colors are concerned. Unfortunately, there wasn't much I could do, and my procrastination left me at the mercy of a possible additional shipment, so I crossed my fingers. When I returned a week later to pay for the gift, minus what I had already put down as a deposit to secure a quickly rising price, the associate had swapped out the tangerine-tinted toy with the red model that I had originally wanted. In short, my experience here was good. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable, and took the time to be sure I went home with a product that I was happy with.

BUYER BEWARE!!! Don't waste your time here. Go on amazon or to Best Buy…read more These guys sold me a defective drone that did not work. The owner talked to me via email but refused to speak to me on the phone. I had to come from downtown to the store a total of 4 times and each time someone would tell me something different. The staff has no clue what they are doing or how to work the products and when I tried to get a refund they said they only exchange. Now I get this if I was sold a working product but because it wasn't I feel cheated that I couldn't return it. Instead I got a trade for a drone that didn't have the same features as the one I originally bought. What a Joke! DO NOT SHOP HERE

Attempted to process a return with this business and was told they require the original till…read morereceipt--despite the fact that I presented an itemized receipt that clearly shows the full transaction details (date, items, price, and payment), which is exactly what a till receipt reflects. This requirement was never disclosed at the time of purchase, even though I specifically asked about their return process. Instead, after the fact, they pointed to wording on the receipt that says "receipts" (plural) as if that somehow retroactively justifies refusing the return. That is not transparent policy--it's moving the goalposts. In standard retail practice, an itemized proof of purchase is sufficient to process a return. Most businesses understand that the purpose of a receipt requirement is simply to verify the transaction. When a customer provides clear documentation that does exactly that, refusing a return on a technicality is not policy--it's avoidance. I have been a professional shopper supporting small businesses in this city for eight years, and I have never encountered a store using this kind of tactic. It comes across as slimy, unprofessional, and frankly dishonest. What's especially disappointing is that I've spent thousands of dollars here over the years. Instead of honoring a straightforward $300 return with valid proof of purchase, they chose to damage a long-standing customer relationship. Because of this experience, they've lost a loyal customer. I will also be advising other shoppers in my community to avoid this store due to what appears to be bad-faith and poor business practices. I cannot recommend a business that treats customers this way.

Ross' Miniature Treasure House is certainly NOT a tiny house displaying gems. It is a specialty hobby shoppe for all wonderful dollhouse things/furniture/additions/houses/etc. It has been standing for 26+ years and, though it is very difficult to maintain such a specialty shoppe, these owners seem to have found a relatively sustainable location that encourages some profitability. It is a little out of the way if you life in Vancouver or the Lower Mainland, but you will not be sorry that you made the trip. This store houses everything and anything that you have ever imagined for your dollhouse, or for someone else's hobby. I still remember the prices some 20 years ago in Winnipeg being outrageous for the miniatures, but Ross' Miniatures are priced at incredibly reasonable costs! The quality of the furniture and dollhouses are outstanding, so you also are investing in great product. You can find everything from the teeniest sushi rolls, to bunk beds, to queen Anne dining room sets, to silverware, to workable lighting fixtures, to spare parts for house renovations (including crown moldings, shingles, etc. etc. etc. ETC.) Service/owners are very friendly and helpful - and most importantly, not pushy at all! My only caution is to be alert of the time, as the store has pretty condensed hours of operation. Open: Tuesday thru Saturday - 9:30 to 4:00

Other trading card games happen here all the time as well and LARGE groups of D&D people roll around here too, and Star Wars Armada are here as well. This store has expanded in ALL ways of geek community which is a good way to expand. This place has TONS of food places around if you get hungry too, and all the food places within the area always give discounts to those who hang out at Magic Stronghold too! Thanks for making partnership with other stores guys to make this place awesome! The staff here are friendly, and will help you if you need it. They are friendly to regulars, and will try to carry a smile when needed. Every single one of them are a geek on their own, playing all the games and will help and explain everything. Their board game collection is HUMONGOUS, and parts and some of the community are always there to help you out with something and learning to get into something new.
