This place rules! I was very impressed by their collection of games to purchase, as well as to play. I LOVE that they have an area where you can try out some games from their library. Photos are of their library, something for all! It's free to play but they do have tables reserved sometimes so you may not always have a spot but we were able to snag a table both times we went.

Review Highlights - Rain City Games

I'm about as casual as it can get when it comes to gaming, but the staff is extremely helpful.

This requirement was never disclosed at the time of purchase, even though I specifically asked about their return process. Instead, after the fact, they pointed to wording on the receipt that says "receipts" (plural) as if that somehow retroactively justifies refusing the return. That is not transparent policy--it's moving the goalposts. In standard retail practice, an itemized proof of purchase is sufficient to process a return. Most businesses understand that the purpose of a receipt requirement is simply to verify the transaction. When a customer provides clear documentation that does exactly that, refusing a return on a technicality is not policy--it's avoidance. I have been a professional shopper supporting small businesses in this city for eight years, and I have never encountered a store using this kind of tactic. It comes across as slimy, unprofessional, and frankly dishonest. What's especially disappointing is that I've spent thousands of dollars here over the years. Instead of honoring a straightforward $300 return with valid proof of purchase, they chose to damage a long-standing customer relationship. Because of this experience, they've lost a loyal customer. I will also be advising other shoppers in my community to avoid this store due to what appears to be bad-faith and poor business practices. I cannot recommend a business that treats customers this way.

Ross' Miniature Treasure House

The only other time I saw such a complete dollhouse specialty store was when I was about 10 years…read moreold, while vacationing in Winnipeg, MB. Ross' Miniature Treasure House is certainly NOT a tiny house displaying gems. It is a specialty hobby shoppe for all wonderful dollhouse things/furniture/additions/houses/etc. It has been standing for 26+ years and, though it is very difficult to maintain such a specialty shoppe, these owners seem to have found a relatively sustainable location that encourages some profitability. It is a little out of the way if you life in Vancouver or the Lower Mainland, but you will not be sorry that you made the trip. This store houses everything and anything that you have ever imagined for your dollhouse, or for someone else's hobby. I still remember the prices some 20 years ago in Winnipeg being outrageous for the miniatures, but Ross' Miniatures are priced at incredibly reasonable costs! The quality of the furniture and dollhouses are outstanding, so you also are investing in great product. You can find everything from the teeniest sushi rolls, to bunk beds, to queen Anne dining room sets, to silverware, to workable lighting fixtures, to spare parts for house renovations (including crown moldings, shingles, etc. etc. etc. ETC.) Service/owners are very friendly and helpful - and most importantly, not pushy at all! My only caution is to be alert of the time, as the store has pretty condensed hours of operation. Supplying many of these hobbies have been relegated to a few shelves in big-box craft shops like Michaels and Hobby Lobby in the US. Once I found Imperial Hobbies on Yelp during our vacation and it was near our hotel, I made my plans. I dropped my wife off for her spa day and this was going to be my spa day ;) The store is in a group of buildings almost at the end of the runway of Vancouver Airport (YVR). If you hang around, you'll see tons of airliners approaching for landings and roaring off on take offs. I just couldn't believe the selection of plastic models of planes, armor, cars and trucks along with complete selections of paint and finishing materials. It's these types of stores that I would spend hours in as a boy, but could only stare wide-eyed because I never had much money back then. But now as an adult with a job and disposable income, I probably would have gone broke if I didn't have to pack everything into my luggage to fly home. The favorable CAD$ to USD$ exchange rate also helped a lot in my shopping. I ended up with a couple of scale plastic model kits and a flying model rocket that are rare, out of production kits or very hard to find, even on-line.
