However,…read morethey also have 2 shelves full of demo games so you can grab a coffee from next door (it is beside a Starbucks) then sit down and try something out-- for free! The game selection isn't enormous, but it is decent; they have a wide range of styles and types including board games, card games, accessories for collectables/ collections (like storing Magic decks). They even have a clearance section which included some "hurt" boxes that were still sealed. You could grab a good bargain there! I was looking for level counters for a game I already owned and the staff member knew the game and although they didn't have counters, he suggested I use D10s (dice). He then showed me my options at the counter (small things were in a display case). In the front window there was a large calendar displaying all the regular and special events happening that month. They have regular gaming nights Sunday (any games), as well as hosting other games-specific nights (such as for Magic: The Gathering).

Attempted to process a return with this business and was told they require the original till…read morereceipt--despite the fact that I presented an itemized receipt that clearly shows the full transaction details (date, items, price, and payment), which is exactly what a till receipt reflects. This requirement was never disclosed at the time of purchase, even though I specifically asked about their return process. Instead, after the fact, they pointed to wording on the receipt that says "receipts" (plural) as if that somehow retroactively justifies refusing the return. That is not transparent policy--it's moving the goalposts. In standard retail practice, an itemized proof of purchase is sufficient to process a return. Most businesses understand that the purpose of a receipt requirement is simply to verify the transaction. When a customer provides clear documentation that does exactly that, refusing a return on a technicality is not policy--it's avoidance. I have been a professional shopper supporting small businesses in this city for eight years, and I have never encountered a store using this kind of tactic. It comes across as slimy, unprofessional, and frankly dishonest. What's especially disappointing is that I've spent thousands of dollars here over the years. Instead of honoring a straightforward $300 return with valid proof of purchase, they chose to damage a long-standing customer relationship. Because of this experience, they've lost a loyal customer. I will also be advising other shoppers in my community to avoid this store due to what appears to be bad-faith and poor business practices. I cannot recommend a business that treats customers this way.

One of the employees asked if there was anything I was looking for and since he was working where Star Trek would have been, I told him. They had none on the floor. He directed me to the man behind the counter, where they keep the pricier comics. Yikes! But they weren't crazy pricey. I ended up with two. The two men in the back reminded me of the two owners of a bookstore I frequented in the States, both were kind and friendly. The man running the register up front was just as sweet and kind. I didn't exactly have the best experiences in comic stores back in the states, and I was a bit daunted by this place. But everything was so different from my past experiences. I loved it!

They have the core games everyone wants, and the games everyone _should_ want, with very few of the many so-so games that come out every year. I look at their selection and I think, "These are the games people should be caring about." Clearly chosen by someone who knows games and which ones are worth your time. I haven't interacted with staff that much but when I have they have been friendly and knowledgeable. I can happily recommend this store to just about everyone.

Supplying many of these hobbies have been relegated to a few shelves in big-box craft shops like Michaels and Hobby Lobby in the US. Once I found Imperial Hobbies on Yelp during our vacation and it was near our hotel, I made my plans. I dropped my wife off for her spa day and this was going to be my spa day ;) The store is in a group of buildings almost at the end of the runway of Vancouver Airport (YVR). If you hang around, you'll see tons of airliners approaching for landings and roaring off on take offs. I just couldn't believe the selection of plastic models of planes, armor, cars and trucks along with complete selections of paint and finishing materials. It's these types of stores that I would spend hours in as a boy, but could only stare wide-eyed because I never had much money back then. But now as an adult with a job and disposable income, I probably would have gone broke if I didn't have to pack everything into my luggage to fly home. The favorable CAD$ to USD$ exchange rate also helped a lot in my shopping. I ended up with a couple of scale plastic model kits and a flying model rocket that are rare, out of production kits or very hard to find, even on-line.

This is the first time I've been there and I had no idea how many different items that they actually carry besides comic books. Action figures, sports cards, Toys, Games, Collectables, there was so much to see! We had come in to purchase plastic card protector sheets. The ones that have 9 slots per page, and typically go into binders. It is so hard to find these anymore ! They weren't cheap ( 30$ for 100 pages ) But they were really good quality. The owner was super friendly and helpful. I would totally return to the store when I have more time to check it out further. You should too!

Worth going to if you're in the neighbourhood…read more Big Pete's has a fairly extensive collection of back issues. It isn't as big as Taz Comics, but I've managed to find a few missing issues here that I couldn't find elsewhere. Comics are pretty well organized, but ask for help if you can't locate something, or you need help bringing down one of the heavy comic boxes. Pricing is generally reasonable for back issues (i.e. within +/- 50 cents what other places are charging). But, I have noticed some inconsistencies; one time, a comic I wanted that was in the back issues section section was more expensive than the same comic in the current issues section. Obviously, I grabbed the cheaper one. Toys, action figures, statues, busts and other collectables are also available for sale. However, you might want to check online first to compare prices. They also have a bunch of Funkos, including some rare ones that are priced accordingly. I don't collect Funkos, so I have no idea if prices are market value or not. Big Pete's is obviously a family run business as I sometimes see what seems like several generations of the family helping out at the store. Staff are generally friendly and helpful when asked questions. Free parking is available nearby, but may be difficult to find on the weekends if the weather is nice. COVID restrictions may require that you wait outside to get in as they only allow for a few customers at a time. Luckily, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, they are closed Sundays, meaning the only time I can go is on Saturdays, which is usually a busy day.
