I came in order to work outside of my hotel. I'm not from this area so I'm assuming this area is nice for a downtown. I'm very anti cramped and people while I work. Ordering was ok I didn't like the set up very narrow. After ordering my mocha and French toast I found a table as it's was very packed. The French toast was amazing so perfect. Coffee seemed a tad weak on the chocolate but still strong. I also had tea which was awesome, as you could smell the peach. I would say improvements would be to have tables that aren't right under each other so those like myself who need to be out yet don't desire to hear anyone's convo read more

Came by 5 minutes to close to buy some beans, as I prefer to purchase beans from local shops, and the guy was locking the doors and wouldn't let me in despite there being two customers seated at the bar. Love these types of places. Very hip! It has a nice space for a one or five group, high quality espresso, and strange foods. We had a muffin, breakfast sandwich (I didn't eat the side at all), and a couple cappuccinos and they were good with designs on top and everything. Definitely a fun spot for 5 minutes or 50 minutes. read more

Being an out of towner, I was on the hunt for good coffee and found this place, thankfully, and they are serving up some of the most delicious coffee drinks you'll find in town. They may not have a Chemex, but they are using a Bonmac and it's incredible. Wonderful friendly service, ready to help. No snobs here. Regular locals looking to influence the community with BETTER coffee. Any pour over you get will be the best one yet. Went there after lunch to get good coffee. I have to say that the place is overpriced. This is not NYC. But the prices sure reflect that lifestyle. I got a hazelnut frappe, it was delicious. For a regular size Frappe with taxes it was 5.67. More than Starbucks. The coffee is very good though. In summary, you have to pay up for good stuff. I'm just not sure if that can really apply in Fort Wayne. Their decor is super modern. Not a big breakfast menu. If you want great breakfast, go across the street to Dash in. They also have super delicious lattes. read more

This is great little coffee place. Kind of has a big-city feel, like something you'd find in downtown Chicago. I stopped in on my way back from the Barr St. Farmer's Market and it wasn't too busy when I was there. I got a mocha (my "fancy" coffee drink of choice) - delicious, not too sweet. I have tried this coffee shop many times and it just never measures up. Their lattes are either too milky or they burn the espresso. The iced coffee is watered down and flavorless. They charge $6 for a 16oz (which is their biggest size). Save your money and go somewhere better. read more

I always experience good vibes at this coffee shop. They have great ambiance with local artists' work hung up inside and they play great study music in the background. Their creme brûlée french toast is incredible and something not to be missed along with the chorizo breakfast sandwich! Their coffee and tea is also delicious. The raspberry muffin is moist and fluffy and the macaroons are amazing! Definitely a place to try out if you are in the downtown Fort Wayne area! read more

Do yourself a favor, enjoy an espresso drink from this place -- or pretty much anything, really. They brew freshly roasted coffee from one of the premier coffee roasters in the country, Counter Culture. I've visited Blue Bottle, Intelligentsia, Portola Coffee in Costa Mesa, CA. I've been all over the country and Europe tasting coffee. Fortezza is right in line with the high-ballers. I'm beyond excited they're in Fort Wayne. Overall, my strong recommendation. read more

Such a great place to sit and chat with friends. The muffins and scones are always delicious but I've never had any luck with the macaroons. They're almost always stale! The coffee is a bit strong for my tastes but my coffee purist friends really enjoy it. I have to add a bit more cream than normal to get it how I like it. Their iced and hot teas are good as well. Service is always prompt and friendly. They have outdoor seating that comes in handy in nice weather and a good amount of indoor seating, including what looks like a conference room in the back. This coffee shop is in downtown Fort Wayne so parking maybe is a little challenging unless you are already done there. The coffee was Fort Wayne average. However, the staff seemed really sweet, and the space was cool and spacious. If I lived in Fort Wayne, I would love the little meeting room they have to the back. First time here & it was yummy! I tried something new- matcha iced. It was slightly sweet & milky- I probably wouldn't have it again, not because it was bad, but because it wasn't my thing. Thinking the espresso con panna next time! My husbands cappuccino was awesome as was the blueberry muffin I chose. Tons of good stuff here & friendly staff. Alton Brown recently listed Fortezza as his top (and only) recommendation in the state of Indiana. They use a Modbar equipment which produces tremendous consistency and control. One fairly unique drink is the Matcha Latte. In addition to their other standard drinks, they also create multiple holiday menus each year. These menus are always fun and are several steps above the specialty drinks you might see at other mainstream coffee shops. The use Counter Culture beans. They serve wonderful pour-overs but I don't think they featured to the same degree as the espresso bar. It's possible that they could rework their counter space to boost their popularity. I've had many of their pastries and all are delicious; but, if you have time to spare, it's worth ordering a full breakfast. The french toast might be the best I've ever had. They also serve several teas, Debrand chocolates, and a few other miscellaneous items. The location is great - very close proximity to the convention center, hotels, the Embassy, and the shopping on Wayne Street. They have a semi private room in the back that can be reserved. read more

Just go. It's amazing. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, everything I've eaten off their menu is mouth-wateringly delicious, and the drinks are perfect. My favorite is the matcha latte with coconut milk. The atmosphere is conducive to getting a coffee by yourself while you quietly read the paper, or meeting a large group to work on projects, or just hang out. This place is fantastic and one of the best coffee shops I've found in the Great Lakes States. Here's why: - Counter Culture coffee is the brand they carry. They have 5-6 different kinds to appeal to coffee lovers. If you are looking for a step up to Starbucks this is a must try. I enjoy fruity notes (cherry, orange, berry and etc) which they have here. - Chorizo sandwich is a far cry from a sandwich and waaaaay better. It brought me back 2 days in a row and is a must try! - nice atmosphere to dine or work. Lots of tables and good ambiance. They have a Minimal, modern interior w/ some outdoor seating. I also recently placed a to-go order for the quiche and not only found it to be delicious, but when I opened the container there was also a small lettuce salad with dressing and a container of yogurt with granola and fresh fruit!
