Site #2 is usually our go-to but this time the surrounding vegetation was very overgrown, to the point where you could not fit a 6-person tent in the provided areas and it was a potential fire hazard due to the plants being very close to the fire pit. Additionally, the on-site picnic table was extremely warped making it near impossible to gather around to eat meals. We love coming here so it would be a shame to have this be a reason not to come back.

It got quite hot in the late mornings, early afternoons but that was expected. The large boulder and tree at our site helped with shade but still pretty exposed. There's a pretty active stream running through the campground, you can walk down to it. We used the fire pit the first night and we had a blast with our little daughter, looking up at the stars both nights. The toilets were close to our site and were pretty well maintained, no showers. We hopped around the Alabama hills at sunset and took a drive up to the Mt. Whitney portal (which was about 10 degrees cooler during the day) to walk around. We would love to come back here to camp!

It'll always be a gamble, so if you're planning to camp for the weekend, come EARLY to try and net a site. I stayed in site #2, which is stupidly large in comparison to the other sites. There are spots for 2 cars, and we even had our own private trail leading to a babbling river. There is potable water, clean bathrooms, and even a few deer sightings! For $23 a night, we were living large. If you forgot anything, there is a market by Glacier Lodge a mile up the road selling the essentials (and apparently, BBQ on Saturdays). However, it was our camp hosts, David and Takota, who really made the stay special. David gave us a personal tour of the grounds, and we got to see his "Twisted Forest," his crystal collection, and he pointed us towards some natural hot springs! We even got his mixtape...aka CDs of the local radio show he hosts...that proved to be awesome to listen to on the drive down. Takota is David's very cute giant dog pal. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back in the Fall season to witness the color change!

This was my 3rd time here. The check in staff is very…read morehelpful. Found out the Hot Tub is down and won't be working for a long time. That sucked! Went to plug in my Nema 1450 Shore power cord and the pedal outlet was melted. Let the check in lady girl know and quickly two maintenance guys came out for a look see. I told them exactly what needed to be replaced and the part name. The younger one said he will call an electrician to come take a look. I said, tell him to bring a Nema 1450 outlet and replace it, as it's nothing to look at but just replace it already. Now mind you we are already set up and can't plug in safely. They "called the owner" and said the electrician can come tomorrow and that's just not gonna work for me. I asked where is the closest hardware store and again the younger one said "it's probably closed" he's not helpful and he's a minimum effort kinda guy. I called ace hardware and they are open for another 1-2 hrs. Had the counter make sure the part is in and had it ready for pick up. The older one tried to put it in, not having any experience with this type of electrical work. I ended doing it for him as I'm a 30+ year electrician. I may have saved his life - . The office offered a $20 credit. and got them to do $50...... The End

Nice tall fire ring, plenty of space to set up tents, chairs, extra table. The most stunning views of the mountains. Tuttle Creek was flowing and provided some scenic walking! Also felt lucky there were so many bathrooms in the sites. The bathroom we were next to was very clean for being vault toilets.

Check in is done via an envelope system at the entrance kiosk. Dirt roads throughout the campground but it was easy to navigate.

It was the perfect distance for a nice day hike, at about 10 miles. Nice reward of picturesque lakes at the end, and you turn around head back. I went down to touch the water, but some people went swimming in the ice cold water! This was a very popular trail and seemed like everyone brought their dogs. Out of maybe 20 parties with dogs, 1 actually had it on a leash. I would recommend starting this hike early so you can grab a parking spot at the trailhead and avoid the heat.

An attendant watching the pool for safety. Lounge chairs in the sun, chairs and lots of opportunities for shade. A hot water area and a really good size pool for swimming, with a shallow end and a deep end, well signed for depths. They have many snacks and drinks available as well as ice cream. Changing rooms and showers (no soap allowed).No balls or inner tubes allowed but small noodles are ok. All employees were friendly. Overall an awesome place. Recommend: small pad in order to sit in hot tub as the floor is a little rough.

I chose site 004 because it has a fire ring and is located next to the creek. The night was calm with the occasional rustling of leaves cause by the wind and the night sky visibility was fantastic for me due to little or no light pollution. The restrooms were well maintained and stocked with plenty of toilet paper. Small flying insects are plentiful in the area but not very bothersome. The site would be much better if showers were available. There is easy access to pay for your site at the campsite if you arrive without reservations, just look out for posted reservations before you occupy a site.
