It's one of the…read morepriciest places to stay in Bishop so I expected to feel like it's an upgrade from the other motels. It is an upgrade, but still very much a motel, not a hotel. Pros: The entrance is nice. I can tell they upgraded it recently. Looks clean and I can see the effort made to make it nice. They have water and ice in the lobby, which is nice. The fitness room is decent for a motel. Breakfast isn't much but it's filling. It works. It's toast, cereal, bagels, egg whites, oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, apples, milk, peanut butter, jelly, cream cheese and coffee. It's not gourmet but it works. The breakfast place is nice, clean and upgraded. I do feel like they try their best to make this place comfortable. The effort shows. I love that the entrance to the rooms is indoors. It's walking distance to restaurants and the park. I'm assuming this is the downtown. I had a dog and they were very friendly and accommodating. I love that they have a bathtub. I have toddlers so it was a nice way to bathe them. Plenty of parking. Cons: One of the major disappointments for me is the wifi. It's extremely slow. This is a big major point for me because I have to work on my laptop and when videos aren't loading it's difficult to work. The doors look old and outdated. It just lowers the aesthetic. There are no elevators, which I already knew. I can overlook that though, my main compliant is the WiFi, especially for the price.

Anyways, on our way to Topaz with the wave runners, stopping for a rest in Bishop is a highlight. There's always parking for my truck and trailer. We were greeted warmly as we signed in. Our room was clean and although this place is older, it had been painted and spruced up a bit. It's just a nice place to take a break and it's easy walking distance to Jacks, my favorite diner and Schats Bakery.

Around 40-45 minutes to slopes, if departing early AM with no snow chains. Expect room with all the basic necessities, including microwave and mini fridge, perfect if you meal prepped to save money. Even so, you're surrounded by food options within walking distance, including Eric Schat's Bakery. Front desk attendant was friendly and welcoming, helpful with orientation and greeted everyone good morning walking in for breakfast. At check-in, we had the option to choose between an upstairs or downstairs room. Downstairs made it convenient for loading boards, right next to FREE parking spaces. Staff was accommodating to provide additional amenities, such as extra towels and lotion. House keeping only upon request the night before. Complimentary breakfast starting at 6:00 AM. The breakfast area was packed with snowboarders on the dot, added to the vibe. Hot omelette and sausage, cereal, fruit, yogurt, muffins, and hard-boiled eggs. Great to fuel up for the mountain. Lady was quick to refill hot foods. There's also refreshing citrus water to quench your thirst in the lobby. That said, few things to be aware of. While the main room itself was clean, the shower area showed some wear, especially around the caulking where you could see mold. The showerhead also sits low - if you're over 6 feet tall, it's going to feel tight. The biggest downside is the thin walls & floors. You don't hear much street noise, but you absolutely hear people... every footstep, every toilet flush, rolling suitcases, and late-night arrivals. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Can hear people coming in around 11 PM pretty clearly. 3.5 stars: Great if you value convenience, affordability, and friendly staff. Place delivers the basics, but noticeable drawbacks of worn shower & thin walls keep it from being a solid 4 or 5 star stay.

It went on for several hours until almost 11 PM. When it happened again the second night, I contacted to front office to complain to the owner. To my surprise, I learned that the dogs were his! I like how spacious the parking lot is. The location is ideal, right in the center of everything. Walking distance from Schat's Bakery & other restaurants, & right next to the park, so it's great for people who have dogs staying with them. I did notice there are a good amount of guests that have pets with them here - so this business is pet friendly! Our room was ready by the time we checked in & was clean. Walls can be a little thin, but we still had a good night's sleep. My favorite part of the stay was the continental breakfast included with our room - sausages, eggs, gravy & biscuits & all the usual options like cereal & fruit & pancakes. The staff were always on site, cleaning tables & refilling food. Such a filling meal, especially for a day of snowboarding ahead. We didn't use the extra amenities but they were nice to have - indoor pool, sauna, exercise room. Overall we would be delighted to come back!

The doors clang shut and the sound reverberates a bit harshly. I had a miserable stay here, and here's why. When I arrived I saw people tailgating in the parking lot at 9pm (camp chairs, watching shows on tablets.. loudly). I inquired at the front desk and they assured me they'd ask the group to be quiet. At 3:41am the group returned. Standing in the same spot outside the window of my room, smoking and talking and coughing. I called the front desk again. They would ask them to be quiet. Over the next hour, as a dozen more guys joined the group with a loud, "Hello!" the group responded with a collective "shush!" I appreciated the effort, but now I was awake. And grumpy. They left at 430am. An hour of loading and re-arranging their fishing things at an unholy hour. At 530am another cacophony of semi trucks starting up and air brakes blowing, then idling. Turns out, the hotel is next to an empty parking lot and that's where semi truck drivers start their day. The group situation might have been an anomaly, but the proximity to semi trucks may not be conducive to a restful night of sleep.
