We have purchased our tree from this location for the last 4 years. The people who run it seem lovely. The trees have come from Canada, Nova Scotia or Quebec? I can't recall. The trees are a little pricey, but we have enjoyed supporting the business.
In years 2 and 4, the trees dried out fairly quickly. I asked about it in year 3 and was told to come back if that happened again. This year's tree was mostly dry by December 22nd - we set it up November 28th.
Now, when we first decided to buy our tree here, we didn't compare prices outside of another seemingly expensive option. It would appear that these trees are at least 33% more than the average corner tree spot in NYC. We received our last tree at a discount due to a large chunk of tree that didn't grow (fond of it nonetheless). It was a 7 ft tree normally $25/ft, but discounted to $20/ft. (Subjectively speaking, $140 is a lot for a discounted tree that dried out before Christmas.)
Next year, I will pop over and inquire about the dry tree issue (it is watered, not near a heater, etc). Perhaps this will be the last year we buy there. read more
