Their website makes it extremely easy to drop over $100 on a Christmas tree that you have not actually seen yet. Then, once you get here, I guess good customer service is not that important anymore because you have prepaid for your tree. The lot is located on Old River Road which is a sketchy back road that parallels River Road. There is a big sign at the front of Old River Road but no signs that direct people to where they should park, etc. And no one to greet you. (You park on the street; don't actually turn into the lot or they will get upset) The guys working here were rude and glared at our family with a look that read why are you even here. We showed them our (extremely expensive) order on our phone and they said oh all of the Frasers are over there in that pile. They brought us to a pile of bundled trees and told us to pick one. The pile had maybe a dozen sad looking trees in it. There were no trees that were already open and standing like you would expect at a respectable Christmas tree lot so you would actually have a few to compare between. The guy opened one tree and then looked at us expecting us to pick that one. We had the guy begrudgingly open two more trees then we picked one of the three. He made a fresh cut (which, by the way, was not straight), then wrapped up the tree, strapped it to our car with two strings, then said ok you are done and left. Terribly overpriced, the prices here are nearly double standard in the nyc metro area (i've spoken to many friends who paid about half of what i paid). Service was very rushed & not great. At home, the tree actually started dying within 2 weeks (needles turning brown), even though i've been diligent with watering it constantly & it was never dry. Previous years we've always had our trees for a long time, right after thanksgiving usually passed New Year, with no issue. I have 10 days left until xmas, & i don't even know if this miserable tree will make it. This particular tree is the worst i've ever had in about 20 years & almost double the money of every other place i've heard about this year through other friends. Terrible. read more

I was referred to Kevin's by a friend of mine who bought for them last year. From beginning to end they were superb. The selection of trees was excellent, the staff helped me pick the one that I was looking for, and I'm pretty sure these were the freshest trees that I've ever bought. Don't waste your time. Staff was great but the trees are terribly over priced and of poor quality. Paid $130 for a 7 foot tree with half the branches bent and broken. Paid a lot of money for the tree and delivery and installation and one guy come and put it angled even if I said it's not straight! My tree felt the very next day! The branches are all ruined and they don't want to fix it or bring a new tree! I can't believe business like this can stay in business! Worst experience! After 2 days before I paid for their tree and they were all smile "oh I hope you have a great Christmas " bullshit like this and they happily took my money like $175, when I called them they try to give me a hard time! They were very kind, transparent and informative in the tree selection process and showed us several trees until we found one that we really liked. 2. I did my research with other places and Kevin's prices are very reasonable and actually much better than other places. Plus you get great quality trees and great service. 4. Service was great. they were very accommodating of delivery and time and went out of their way to get us the tree and deliver on time very quickly , which is pretty amazing given how busy things are. 5. No Christmas Tree from Kevin this year ! Went on site, wait for 20 minutes with army of people around, where nobody was paying attention on us. Then got price tag of $120 for the similar tree, which we've got last year for $70 (including delivery). We have used to get trees from Kevin for past 6 years started from $40 back in 2012, but sorry this is too much. We've understood there is a lot of developments along River road with plenty of new customers, but you guys should at least maintain some sort of loyalty program for the people living in the area and buying your trees for sometime (frequent customers). Another aspect we saw so many trees been left outside last year after Christmas is over, why simply don't reduce the price and sold them out to avoid similar situation ? What a pleasure. We bought our tree from here for the first time this year. The teenager who helped us offered us incredible service. The assortment of trees was great, all of them looked fantastic. We took our tree down the weekend after New Year's and it still looked great. The difference in quality from what we have gotten from Home Depot or Lowes was incredible, and the great service was a really nice touch. We will buy from here going forward. read more

So I call up, order one of the smaller christmas trees for delivery to my house. They said it was $100. Ok, a little overpriced for their smallest tree-but I am a business owner myself and support small businesses. He tells me that they will deliver AND pick up the tree. They come, I even tip the guy, which I think it was the owner. Then January 7th, I call and text the same guy to come get this tree-and NOTHING! No call back, no text, nothing. NADA! For $100, that includes the service of getting the tree. They did not care-they got the sale and moved on. They are not a stand up company, they do not follow through. The reason why we ordered a tree for delivery is because we business owners and very busy. The fact that he was too busy to come pick up the tree? Horrible business practice. It took me 5 months to write this because I am busy-which is why we chose someone to select and deliver our tree. Not good business follow through in place, what a shame. read more

I never write review's, however the customer service has been so non-existent, I am forced to write one. I ordered my tree + set up prior to thanksgiving. The website said the tree would be delivered within three days of my order. A week later, still no tree. I have called 4 times, always go to voicemail, emailed and received no response. I managed to get someone on the phone ONCE. He assured me that I would receive a call back regarding delivery...still waiting on that call back...5 days later. I have been forced to cancel my order by removing the charge through my credit card company. do NOT use this service. They charge the same prices as Williams-sonoma tree delivery, which I usually use but decided to support local businesses this year. Worst decision ever. read more

Gone here for the past three years. First year was outstanding as far as quality, price, and no hassle for transporting the tree. Second year quality dipped a little bit while the prices dramatically increased. For what it's worth the people there are usually nice and have good attitudes. However, our experience this year was not a positive one. Whole the worker who helped us was nice, his work was inadequate. A 7ft tree turned into a 6ft tree because the worker could not cut straight. The entire ordeal of attempting to fix the cut took another 20 minutes which was not fun. Even after all of that, they still charged $90 for the tree, an 80% increase in price from the first year and a 20% increase from last year. Next year there will be no purchase from Kevin's, unless Kevin decides to change his business strategies. read more

They are the true example of typical companies that will try their best to scam your money. I paid 90 dollars on the 6 feet tree. Plus 30 dollars delivery. Upon going to their tree lot, they said they "will" remove and recycle the tree. Did they mention that they will charge you money? No! Did they put it on their flyer? No! Did they put it clear on their website? No! Do you think us customers are so stupid that will fall on your trick again?! Are you really thinking this will make your marketing appear good? And do you think the customers will not tell their neighbors not getting your tree? Again, after many calls and email, they don't ever mention once that they are going to charge you for delivery until you are confirmed to ask for the service. And let's talk about pricing, the regular 6 feet tree from a tree lot without delivery fee is about 40-60 dollars(from Walmart, Costco, Home Depot and regular tree lot). So there's already the mark up here. And they ask for 30 dollars delivery fee. So you don't think that Walmart and other retailers operate without value? No. Don't fall for their trick, they fool me once, and never again. And I am guarantee you, my neighbor and anywhere nearby. Will NOT get your tree. Oh, did I mention they have couple of bugs released from the tree? And I experienced allergy reactions from the tree too? And the owner replied to my review comments in google as I am crazy, and I am lying about bugs. Me and my neighbor both screamed upon seeing the longnikorn. They don't do business honest here. I stopped by on the 23rd in the evening, and though they were done delivering for the weekend, the owner made an exception and made a midnight delivery so I could have a fat happy little tree for Christmas. I wasn't so sure what I wanted in a tree and was unaware of how much it should cost. I paid $70 for what should be one of the better trees (limited needle fall) on their lot standing at 6ft. Once I got home we took off the netting, stomped it on the ground, and tons of BROWN needles fell off and brown leaves. I should've bought a rake too! My tree was dead inside. Lesson learned, I'll be better prepared for next season and find some other tree dealers. read more

This past Christmas (2019), I used Kevins Tree Lot for a second year in a row. I paid $220 for the tree. I generous tipped the person who delivered it, though they were not very skilled in setting it up. I scheduled the pick up of the tree, two weeks in advance, for 1.17.20. Kevin emailed me the night before to reschedule, then never heard from him with a set date or time. He sent someone on 1.18.20, without confirming. I scheduled a time with that person for mid afternoon, then he cancelled and moved it to the next day, 1.19.20 at 10am. He just cancelled after I called several times, left messages and texts with the text that he isn't going and he told Kevin. Kevin is not answering my calls, texts or emails. This is horrible and appalling. I can't believe this. read more

I couldn't help my husband with the tree this time since I'm pregnant, so we tried out the delivery and removal services. We picked out our tree and it was delivered an hour later quick, easy, no hassel. The same with removal and I love how they recycle their trees. This all for a decent price. I don't write a lot of reviews on Yelp but I used Yelp last night when I was searching for a place that sold Christmas trees and set them up in the stand (my husband wasn't able to do it for us). I found Kevin's Christmas Tree Lot and I wanted to share what an amazing experience we had. Everyone was super friendly. They were all very knowledgeable about the different trees which was never my experience when I bought in Hoboken for the past 12 years. They were all well priced. The guy who help us was very patient as I wanted to see like 10 or more trees. They delivered mu tree TWO hours later to HOBOKEN. The guy John who delivered our tree was very friendly (like a happy elf!) and put the tree up in less than 5 minutes. It was the straightest we've ever had our tree . Overall this was an excellent experience. We even met the owner Kevin who came out to say hello and he thanked us for our business and for making the trip to Edgewater. To me that goes a long way. So folks it's worth the trip especially if you live in Hoboken or Jersey City! Their trees are just beautiful. read more

Ordered a tree online for it to be delivered and installed. My online order stated that the tree will come within the next 3 days. I called several times leaving messages wondering what day it will be delivered so that I could arrange to be home, never an answer or a call back. We arrived yesterday before 6:00PM to the lot and were shown a few trees and settled on one. We requested to have the tree delivered and were told we would get a call when they were on their way. We waited until about 10:30PM and finally called to ask where the tree was. There was no answer so we left a message. Kevin called back and told us he was sorry and they were very busy and they could get us the tree in 40 mins! after 11PM. I then asked if he could just deliver the next morning. He advised yes. We were hesitant as this is already unacceptable for a company to wait until after 10:30 to even reach out to the customer. He told it would be no later than 10:00AM. Now to the next morning. It was around 10:30 when I called them as the tree had yet to arrive. Again, no communication on their part. I spoke with Kevin again who advised the delivery driver was not there yet and he apologized. I asked him when we would get our tree. He said before noon. Well, noon arrives and I called him once again and he then asked me if I could wait even longer. Well, I had had about enough and told him to cancel the order. I told him they should have told us how long it would have taken to have the delivery service done. I also said we could have had the tree put on our car ourselves but since they advertise this service, it seemed convenient. He then said, well they could have done that. I explained to him that thats not the point, they provide the "service" and clearly it was a problem. He then told me "It's not like this is a pizza delivery service. I apologized to you already, theres not much more I can say." The demeanor in which his tone changed was not professional and essentially as if we should have just accepted the lateness and lack of customer service. This is not how businesses should be run, wether you're a pizza service, a tree service or anything else. Customer service is customer service wherever you go. I'm 62 years old, my family is out of town, and I was not looking forward to strapping a tree to the roof of my Smart car, driving six miles at 5 mph, dragging the tree up two flights of stairs, and shouldering it into a stand. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. DO NOT GET A CHRISTMAS TREE FROM THIS PLACE! I ordered a Christmas tree 2 weeks ago and paid online. I then confirmed with Kevin over the phone last Tuesday that my tree would be delivered between 6-10pm last night. I planned my Thanksgiving travel around this to make sure I was home for the time of the delivery. THE TREE NEVER CAME! Not only that, but NO ONE FROM THE BUSINESS PICKED UP THE PHONE ALL NIGHT! I called and left messages last night and this morning. Then I finally heard back from Kevin via email today. His excuse why my tree wasn't delivered? "We are a small business and got backed up with deliveries." Are you kidding me? That is NO excuse as to why no one picked up the phone or had the decency to call me and let me know they weren't even planning on coming when I was waiting at home all night. Running a small business means that your reputation, word of mouth and customer service should be the most important thing to you. If someone had simply called and told me they were running behind, I would have had no problem rescheduling the delivery. This is not a legitimate business. They are super unprofessional and unreliable. I ended up having to dispute the charge with my credit card company because I didn't trust them to give me a refund after how unprofessional they acted. Get your tree elsewhere and save yourself the hassle. read more
