A small family bought an old greyhound race track and converted it into a huge animal shelter for lost, surrendered, and stray animals. All the animals are well cared for and healthy but are in need of forever homes. I was incredibly impressed by the owner Andrea, her son Tommy, and daughter Nadine. I would recommend this shelter to anyone interested in adding a new memeber(s) to their family. With our adoption of our dog Sassy, we also received her medical records with vaccinations, and microchip with registration. Our new doggie is a happy and healthy girl thanks to TCAR.

She was spayed, chipped and had ALL her shot PLUS heartworm tested AND they gave her heartworm and flea and tick prevention. She is sweet and exactly what Allie and her volunteers described. She is living her best life and enriching ours. We have rescued before and she is by far the best cared.for dog we have rescued. If you want to rescue I highly recommend Sanctuary in the South.

Negative -10 review these fuckers owe me stars…read more I've tried calling Paw Humane Society numerous times, and it is almost impossible to get anyone to pick up the phone or respond. No matter which line you try, there's never an answer. I even reached out about a stray dog that needed help, and nobody came out. It's extremely frustrating, especially considering the fact that they just had a big revamp and promote themselves heavily with events like "Bark for Blues" festivals to get dogs adopted. They clearly put effort into marketing, but when it comes to the basic responsibility of answering calls and helping the community, they are failing. This organization needs to get its priorities straight.

They always seem overworked and like they need more staff in the 10 or more years I've been going there, and they almost never answer their phones so it's very hard to ask questions or make an appointment. I wonder how many more people they could reach if they just answered their phones (clinic side especially, rescue side is a smidge better)?! Heck I'll do it, I'd even take minimum wage to do it. FYI they only take animals in from the Animal Control next door, so owner surrenders or found animals have to go through Animal Control. I found this kitten in Jason's Deli parking lot emaciated and missing an eye but mewing and coming up to us for help. We named him Ragetti and called the rescue to tell them how absolutely sweet he was, and they told us to surrender him to Animal Control then call them so they can pick him up. Animal Control said they would normally euthanize injured feral cats, but I insisted he was sweet to everyone and deserved a chance and stayed until PAWS picked him up! After they fixed his eye we visited him at the shelter as he gained weight so he would stay socialized and sweet, and he was adopted within a couple of weeks !

So just be aware that there may be more animals at the LCHS than shown on the website. We adopted a cat from the LCHS a few years ago, and she captured our hearts and was just the best companion. The shelter isn't huge, but the facilities are a step up from the old location on 280, where I volunteered back in the stone ages. From recent visits, I love how you're able to freely interact with the cats and kittens (not sure about dogs), and they also pipe in music for the felines. When we adopted our cat, we weren't able to adopt the same day since the adoption coordinator was out but I'm not sure how it is now. Anyway, adopt a shelter pet!!!!

LAUGHED in our face after my mom said the cat had a good life then continued to tell us that the cat didn't have a good life and made us seem like terrible cat owners. I am honestly surprised that the employee Monique is still in hire due to her terrible attitude. Hopefully the cat we walked in to adopt finds a nice family because clearly we were not good enough for them. Refused to help and turned me down with one of my cats that were dying who ended up dying 30…read moreminutes later , I then had no choice but to go back again after my other cat was in labor and dying and I was once again refused and she passed away I lost both of my cats because all the vets in Columbus ga or incompetent assholes , this place especially and the staff are horrible people , I don't know how you can work at an animal rescue but hate animals , yall are fucking sick !
