I had the tiny spicy chicken. It was good, but the breading was soggy and the chicken was overcooked. I do have to say it was white breast meat so that gave it a little bit of a plus, but overall the flavor was too black peppery for me. The rice was bland. I ordered the wonton soup and it was clear broth with a wonton only, and no meat in the wontons, just soggy wonton wrappers. The cream cheese won tons were not good either, they were super soggy, and flavorless and the cream cheese was over cooked. I was from out of town looking for some takeout. I ordered an Egg Roll, Won Ton soup and House Pam fried noodles. I was disappointed in the small size of the egg roll Although tastee the soup could have used more wontons and the noodle dish more and larger pieces of meat. Service was not good. Tonight we dined at Formosa and it was all delicious...I usually go in expecting to be underwhelmed and just get average food...but tonight was wonderful. My favorite dish was the shrimp and green beans. The shrimp were flavored wonderfully and the green beans still had some crunch but not undercooked...flavored with lots of garlic. Just a really yummy dish. We also got tiny spicy chicken (which if you are not familiar with this popular dish in Cache Valley, is not actually spicy at all) which is always a safe bet with my kids and one everyone will eat. We also enjoyed the crab cheese wontons...they were great. Some restaurants have them with an overwhelming onion/chive flavor which we don't like very much...these do not. They came out crispy and hot and we gobbled them up. We got our entrees as part of the family meal...so we all got soup, an egg roll, and crispy wontons...it was all perfect. I don't usually like hot and sour soup...but I liked Formosa's. The menu has changed since I last came in...the dishes are all pretty affordable. You can get a combo plate for around $7.00...with other more expensive combinations available. The family entrees were 9.29 a person I believe. Once the shift changed happened and the new service appeared I was pleased. I wish I remembered his name... He was very attentive and helpful. The restaurant is small and quiet...so I was uncomfortable with the loudness of my 2 year old...but we managed. Seating is fairly close together and you will be privy to all the other conversations going on around you. There is one bathroom for women and one for men. They were clean. We had 3 large entrees, all the sides, an appetizer, and an order of noodles for 36.00. We came home with lots of leftovers. I do recommend going here...but not for ambience or to have a private dinner...go for good food for a good value! We will be back! read more

I have a hard time reviewing for this place. We LOVE the food. Best Chinese food in town! But every single time we go, their service leaves almost everything to be desired. Their hostess was on the phone while she seated us, and just pointed at our table as she walked away. They had enough servers today, but it was so disorganized, all of them had no idea what to do. They were all just scrambling around. As I watched them, one of the servers kinda just watched the other servers and did basically nothing. We didn't get silverware or napkins until our food got to the table, and I sarcastically asked our waiter how we were supposed to eat our food. When he brought our silverware, he awkwardly shoved it into our food instead of just setting it on the table. We asked for a refill on water, so the server went and got a pitcher of water, and served the table next to us water, then walked off. We recommend the food! But do take out orders instead of sit-in. read more

Formosa is one of my favorite places to get Chinese food in town. However, since COVID it has really gone down hill with customer service there is multiple times where I would be told after making a to go order "That'll be ready in 20-30 minutes" which is great if that actually happened. when arriving I get told that it'll be done in a moment and end up waiting 20-30 minutes longer after already arriving 20-30 minutes after my call. It's disappointing and frustrating for this to happen however they do have good food. read more

Great price and great food, however, there was a blatant lack of cleanliness. Improper Covid sanitation procedures and multiple employees removing masks upon entering the kitchen made my visit slightly less pleasant. No matter how hungry you are, do NOT eat here! The quality of the food is worse than the amount of dust in the restaurant. We ordered the hot pot and all of the "steak" was completely inedible; it was literally all fat trimmings and bones. The chow main was not at all what we expected. My husband ordered the Sweet and sour chicken, which was tiny pieces of chicken deep fried in pancake batter, drenched in high fructose corn syrup sauce. It was so bad. They are no longer the same old Formosa. They used to be my favorite Chinese food restaurant. Their Tiny Spicy Chicken was the best. I wanted to go there today before we headed back to California and I was very disappointed. We were one of two groups, yet waited 10 minutes to be seated and even longer to order. The waiter was impatient and even insulted our children. The Tiny Spicy Chicken was no longer the same old recipe I loved, the food was okay though, not great, just okay. Once they brought the check I seriously waited almost 15 minutes for the cashier to come over so I could pay. When I got there, I was the only one. Loads of people showed up behind me and 2 groups eventually left due to the lack of presence of a host or cashier. Then the cashier gives me change that made it impossible to tip from. First off, service is much friendlier and attentive than in years past. Kudos to that. BUT, the food is just okay. Mind you, I have only tried their Americanized dishes so far. Tiny spicy chicken is a different recipe now, not spicy and less rich..it just doesn't have the flavor compared to their competition in town. General Tso's is all bread and cooked very hard, not a good mouth feel, plus it lacks flavor as well. Walnut shrimp is generally hard to do wrong, but they've found a way here..sauce is tasty, but the batter is too thin, like tempura batter, and the shrimp are wet and limp. I like them to pop in my mouth, with a rush of juices and flavor. Another dish I had here recently was called something like Amazing shrimp, it was in a savory brown, slightly sweet sauce..it tasted pretty good but lacked any real punch and had too much broccoli on the plate, not enough shrimp. Fried rice is cheaply done and tasted pretty bad..steamed rice cooked to my liking. Egg rolls are all mush inside. Any dish that warns of being "hot" here isn't. They are afraid to use heat and spices for some reason. And why do they bother with the crispy strips with watered-down sweet and sour sauce pre-meal? It is so thinned out, it is destined to drip on your shirt. My family ruined two shirts last visit. As for the dining area, it is clean but dated and drab. The fish tank looks sad and out of place. There is not much area to wait to be seated, so entrance can get crowded if it's at all busy. Plus they have no host and are rarely around to greet you, unless you count the giant golden pig crowding out the counter. This place is under new management, but under them has gone downhill some. This is now the best Chinese in Logan. That sadly isn't saying a lot, since Mandarin has gone downhill and Leo's on 3rd N is gone. We order all over the menu, mostly vegetarian and feel sorry for the typical locals who get the same breaded chicken goop, everyone at a table, same goop... Get brave Loganites! My personal recommendation as a Chinese As a Chinese student in Utah State University for several years, I haven't had very many choices in Logan to "enjoy" some authentic Chinese food. Royal Express used to be good, but now it is more and more Americanized. Meanwhile, Formosa has added several good Chinese dishes into their menu, which worths recommendation imho. If you are a "tiny-spice-chicken lover" - no offense, I like them too - you can stop here because what you like may be "American Chinese" food, not Authentic Chinese food :p 1 roast duck It has replaced the crispy duck and becomes my new favorite. The duck is "roasted", and the fat beneath the skin is more or less melted, while the skin is a little bit separated from the meat but still soft and tender. Oh my, I have mouth water now... 2 Lamb hot pot Great value, but still "fine" flavor. Hot pot is some traditional Chinese food, which can be spicy or non-spicy in China. In my hometown we all like the spicy one more. But here you can only have the non-spicy version. It is still good. You have lamb, beef, seafood and all sorts of vegetable in the hot pot. You also have the choice to ask for the "little" version which is $5 cheaper, in which the beef is taken away. 3 Soy bean w/ dry Tofu (or something like this, I can never remember its name) Great for the body builder! It is the favorite dish of my buddy. Soy bean, Tofu, and some pork are the materials in this dish. I pretty much like it as well. The only problem is sometimes it can be salty. If you really want to eat healthy, you should tell the waiter/waitress to make it a little bit light. 4 Pipa Tofu The Tofu here is not really "tofu", but some mixture of Japanese tofu, egg, and shrimp. It is deep fried so I don't think it is very healthy but I like the taste and flavor. 5 Hunan Fish (conditional) This is a new dish and make sure you try it on Fridays or Sundays. I asked the owner why this dish is so different every time I visit and I was told, only the Chinese chef who works on Fridays and Sundays can make it the best. It is actually his "signature dish". The dish itself is supppppper delicious if it is well made. Fried fish plus snow bean... arghhh... I also like their "Hong Shao Pork (ribs)", "Niu Nan hot pot", and some other dishes. The names here are directly from Chinese so they may not make sense to you guys but I would give them big thumb up. Anyway, it is my personal recommendation. As I eat so many times here, I am pretty familiar with the owner now, thus I won't guarantee I am not biased. But I just can't sit and read some weird reviews in which this restaurant is compared with WOW, Panda or even Mandarin Garden. From a Chinese's perspective, the only "real" Chinese restaurants in logan are Royal Express, Black Pearl and Formosa, and Formosa is the only one that gets better in recent years. read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant when I lived in logan 4 years ago. Now every time I come to town I still go there, but it has gone down hill drastically. Tonight I had there egg drop soup and it was cold! Then my food came and my lo main was cold as well! I had to ask them to microwave my food as well as my friends. BEST CHINESE FOOD IN TOWN! I see bad reviews for wait times... come on... that happens at ANY busy restaurant. The food is to die for! I seriously cannot count how many times I have eaten here, so much that the staff gives me an extra warm welcome and know when I deviate from my normal selections. The food has never once disagreed with me, unlike Mandarin Garden which has made me regret both times I have tried it (only when Formosa was closed). People complaining about grease... that's because you're ordering Americanized Chinese food, not authentic, which would be under house & chef specials. Try the Happy Formosa (feeds 2-3) it is my All Time Favorite! Make sure you bring someone to help you eat it, or prepare for leftovers! The pot stickers are a delicious appetizer! Remember when you came home and your beautiful wife was replaced by a soulless zombie? That was the experience we have had the last couple times getting take-out from Formosa. My beloved Tangerine Beef extra spicy was replaced by soggy, grey, flavorless whatever. What used to be a treat to look forward to on our visits to Cache Valley, turned into a sad regret of spending our hard-earned money. While the previous management always delivered great flavor and quality, this particular new version has decided apparently that people in Logan will eat anything. Sad. But at least we won't be wasting any more money giving them the benefit of a doubt. I'm sorry I didn't take the time to praise the previous owners more, for perhaps they would still be in business. Soup was hot and delicious, and all the members in my family loved their meals-thats not an easy feat! The Happy Farmosa was delicious and the serving size could have served 3. I went here with my husband back when we were dating, the waitress was very nice, we ordered our food and it came out pretty quickly, my very first bite I smelled something horrid, I realized that the food smelled like URINE. I immediately called over my waitress and told her, she apologized and got me another plate, still smelled like Urine! YUCK, I was so upset and my husband smelled my food and agreed it smelled! Read through the reviews and was most worried that service would be bad and food may or may not be ok. Was in mood for Chinese high so we said lets go for it. Walked in to a very polite smiling hostess. Seated immediately and 5 waters brought to table. Then, quiet. I started worrying about the service aspect. I was speaking to my son about it quietly (what I read on yelp) and not sure if it was coincidence or if the hostess overheard, but suddenly the waitress came to the table. From that point on, everything was EXCELLENT. Service, food, time waiting for meal, appearance of food, price, personalities. I really enjoy Formosa and for more than just the Tiny Spicy Chicken. If you "stray" from the normal meals you will get a good surprise in some of the more authentic dishes. Right now our favorite are the Rice Noodles, they have a way of making them just right and mixed with all different kinds of meats they are yummy. The peking porkchop is great also. read more
