Takara has probably one of the best sushi menus in Logan, which if you have been to any of the other restaurants you know is quite limited price is reasonable and there's a half off menu with a fair selection. They have a short, Korean menu inside the standard menu, though it misses out on the banchan. Service is polite and swift food is well done and fresh. Service at Takara Sushi wasn't overly friendly nor welcoming but prompt enough. Given that most of their sushi rolls run with a "50% off" price promotion, though some don't, so it's a little confusing to order, but not a bad experience either. Yet we felt the quality for price was generally pretty reasonable: $46 for six rolls -- even if with as big a menu it wasn't wholly easy for us all to remember their names when they just put them all together and served them up family style. (Visually more appealing though.) Furthermore the edamame were edamame (good) but the Monkey Ball ($5) -- an interesting fried crunchy ball of spicy tuna, mushroom, and surimi was a hit. Nigiri were fine -- but a little weird to be served as singles. I'd bump Takara to 4-stars (maybe 4.5 for the grade of food for price) if it wasn't for the poor texture and value on the small bowl of Katsudon ($18) -- based on that I'd hesitate ever to order from their Entrees part of the menu again. It was served a jumbled mess with too much carrot, thin-style (rather than juicy style) katsu pork cutlet, and onions not cooked well enough in the sweet-savory dashi broth. And no egg cooked over top like the Japanese tradition. A complete fail in my view. Yet sushi did rescue it for most and thus I'd be open to visiting again. $100 with tax and 18% tip for five wasn't a bad Japanese eating-out proposition. 3-3.5 stars. read more

The crab and scallop cakes were to die for and every roll I had had great taste and presentation! I went in a Friday night and it was busy, but to get on the list was easy and they called my phone when my table was ready. The environment is fun and the restaurant was clean. Coming from California, we have been trying to find a good sushi spot and tried this one out. We got a table right away, even though it was pretty busy. The pork gyozas were crispy and yummy. Disappointed with the French Kiss because the salmon was cooked and it didn't state that on the menu. Also sushi nigiri is $6 a piece; which is then discounted to half off. The sushi cuts are small; the fish was fresh; service underwhelming. No refills on water or checking on us during the meal. Visited my SIL's favorite sushi restaurant. I always crave sushi and love trying new restaurants. It was decorated in a traditional Japanese style for a great dining experience. The staff were friendly but the menu and ordering was complicated and confusing. We received a menu and a half off menu on a piece of paper but it didn't have all the items from the menu. Most of my family didn't order from the paper but the staff insisted we use it, which was weird and baffling. I ordered the Rainbow roll and edamame from the half off menu. It was delicious and the fish and ingredients were fresh. The prices seemed overpriced for what we received. I'll first start off by saying that Takara is the best spot for sushi in Cache Valley. I'm from the PNW and very picky about my sushi, but Takara delivers every time. It's a smaller restaurant on the inside with tight quarters seating, but it almost adds to the experience and fun of going. Staff are always friendly and give great recommendations for sushi to those that may not know what they want. I love this place. Every single menu item I've had the privilege of experiencing was very satisfying. I've had a huge variety of sushi in my life, from $0.50 a roll to $40 a roll, and this place has incredibly good sushi, especially for the price and being so far inland. I love Takara! I am allergic to sesame so buying sushi premade is not an option but Takara is always willing to work with me so that I can have the best experience possible. They have replaced or taken off sauces that contained sesame. The staff is also super friendly and even remembered me when I went back in and thanked me for the business when I left.
