Fabulous job in taking my vision and turning this dresser into a beautiful masterpiece.

Hole in underside of chair. The bands go across the bottom of the chair and seat cushion sits on top. Bands kept slipping out

We have a vintage midcentury leather sofa and a chair that were in bad shape. The sofa cushion was so worn down that sitting on the rug on the floor was more comfortable. As for the chair, a bug must have eaten through the wood that holds the straps in place to support the cushion. The bands kept slipping out so the seat cushion would fall out. I checked with several different furniture repair shops and couldn't find anyone who could do the job for a decent price. A lot of vendors see midcentury pieces and immediately hike up the price. Roger at form+function is amazing and the process was super simple. I emailed him photos and he got back to me immediately with very fair pricing. Took them about a week to finish the work. It's unbelievable. The couch is so comfy now -- feels like I'm sitting on a brand new couch. And the bands for the chair are totally secure and solid now. I love thrift stores and CraigsList for furniture finds. Really happy to find this place. Will be my go-to for repairs to upcycle good pieces that just need a little extra love.

Impeccable work!!! We needed custom cushions for our new bench and after reading all the great reviews we decided to go with Form & Function. Roger was quick to reply to us reaching out and we were able to tell him exactly what we wanted. And he delivered! We also went to his shop for a meeting and got to see all the other pieces they are working on. Like an old work table they were using for a bathroom vanity. He came out and took exact measurements and when they arrived they fit perfectly. Very happy with the end product.

Roger was amazing to work with! He is prompt with his communication and keeps you updated throughout the project. I needed custom table legs made for a vintage 1970s table top I had acquired and really didn't know what I was in for. Roger's pricing was fair, professional, and he stayed on track with how long the project was expected to take. This review is long overdue because I've been enjoying my table ever since he delivered it back to me in December. Roger is a 10/10!

We could not be more pleased with the work Roger did! I bought a really nice 1 of a kind sofa from someone online 13 years ago. But after a decade of wear and tear it needed some TLC. Roger and his staff were great! The work was done on schedule and it looks amazing. I was able to keep my 1 of a kind sofa instead of replacing it with something with no character. If you want quality work done at a reasonable price-point, this is the place!

Corner piece of table was knocked loose. They were able to reseat and relevel the mounting hardware so piece is flush and secure.

Roger and his crew do exceptional work. They restored our Alfred Kill "Bird" chair after the original leather disintegrated after use. Roger was very helpful and patient as we thumbed through all his samples of leather and was communicative and accomodating throughout the whole process as we had a change order midway. We found our go-to people when it comes to furniture repair and fabrication. When a supposed window covering expert twice messed up a curved valence housing a motorized shade and curtain, Roger and his carpenter came out and fabricated it perfectly to our vision. They even repaired a panel on our outdoor dining table free of charge. Great people to work with who do great work!

I have wanted a custom cushion for my outdoor bench seat for ages so , when form and function opened down the street , I decided to finally get it done Roger was fantastic! Responsive, helpful and professional. They have a huge selection of beautiful fabrics. They came out and measured the next week and the cushion was ready a week later . It fits like a glove! It honestly couldn't have been a better experience. I highly recommend

    Chair after

I recently inherited a chair that had unfortunate looking fabric. I am really happy I took it to Form + Function to be reupholstered. Roger was friendly, patient, and responsive to all my emails. He had tons of fabric to choose from but also gave me recommendations on where to find cheaper options. They finished the job in the time frame promised and the work is excellent! The upholstery is perfect and they fixed the loose piece on the front at no extra cost. I am so pleased with the result that it is hard to decide whether I want to sit on the chair or just look at it! I'm obsessed! Thank you F+F!

We could not be more pleased with our finished project from Form + Function. We had an idea of what we were looking for and the owner delivered above and beyond our expectations. He provided excellent and responsive service and the craftsmanship is exceptional. In today's world where there is so much cookie cutter product, it is a wonderful opportunity to have a custom-built project. From start to finish Form + Function was wonderful and more than exceeded our expectations.

We were so happy with the end product! Another successful project for The Go 2 Girls LA

As personal organizers and decorators, we wanted a company that would provide a beautiful product that was within our clients price range and timeline for her project. Roger Form And Function was very communicative, and worked with in all of our needs to create a beautiful and product! They were able to make slipcovers for our clients Pottery Barn couch, arm chair, ottoman, and even the pillows and cushions! It looks like a brand new couch by the time they were done, and even offered pick up and delivery of the items. Couldn't be happier with the experience we had with Form and Function, and we know we will have projects for them in the future!

    Chest of drawers under lofted

I had had a unique loft-closet project in mind for a while and must have contacted close to a dozen furniture builders before I found Form & Function - the only builder that confidently said they could build it. It took a while, but I wound up with a very fine piece of furniture that is exactly what I wanted. Terrific. Roger stayed in contact throughout the process. He and Miguel (an expert wood builder) gave me a few design suggestions that unquestionably improved the overall design and function. I unhesitatingly recommend Form & Function. They are the real deal and I will definitely use their services again.

We talked a couple times and got an initial idea of what we wanted to do. Then he came to measure and talk a bit more so we could refine the project. We are not starting our project just yet because of timing but once we say yes, I'll come back to talk about that experience. So far, MJ has been fantastic to quote us and get us started on our kitchen remodel. I recommend them with no reservations!

From the beginning Manuel was challenging to get ahold of (no responses on emails mostly). Work started a week later than we had agreed on and Initially the project was supposed to take 3 days - demo, install, finishing- and it was suggested that it could be done in one week. The project started September 25 2024 and was finally finished November 15, almost 2 months. During demo we had to ask them to stop because they did not tape off the space and spread huge amounts of dust throughout our house that we ended up needing to do lead and aesbestos testing to move forward (not to mention, I had to take a day off of work to clean up the mess created). We had to call and text and basically beg them to send people out to finish the work and we could tell we were a very low priority- mostly working Saturdays, canceling multiple times after committing to dates, unwilling to commit to days until a day or two in advance, etc. He pretended he would work around our schedule but if that was the case, this work would have NEVER been completed. I canceled plans 3 times during this process to make myself available to get this work done. After demo, I think they realized this job was more complicated than originally anticipated but instead of telling us that, Manuel just kept us guessing, unsure if the timeline had changed- he did not want to communicate specifics with us which we would have really appreciated and welcomed. We learned quickly that they were not particularly respectful of our space so we began taping up our own plastic space dividers to keep dust and fumes out of the rest of our living space. The workers were very nice and I believe the issue is with management rather than the workers themselves. In the end, the work is nice enough which is why I give 2 stars instead of 1. The finished work was absolutely not worth the headache and displacement we experienced to get it done. It was a truly painful experience. I have other cabinetry projects I would like to do but will absolutely not be hiring MJ Custom cabinetry again to do the work.

From the moment I first sat down with Eyal Weizman of MDRN Construction, I knew he would be my…read morechosen contractor for my kitchen remodel. We seemed to speak the same aesthetic language and he quickly and enthusiastically whipped up a rendering of what my kitchen might look like. He was also very sensitive to and willing to do great work within my budgetary constraints. I immediately knew I would be in good hands. My kitchen remodel was for a very narrow space that had had a double electric oven and a big fancy gas range. The old cabinets, which were solid wood, had likely been there since the house was built in the 50s. An unfortunate water leak did major damage to the wood floor and seeped into the 2 layers of asbestos-laden linoleum underneath. Due to the need for asbestos remediation as required by my insurance (and the law), I was literally forced to see my entire kitchen torn out to the studs -- cabinets, appliances, floors and all. Enter MDRN Construction - after unsatisfactory experiences with the contractors my insurance had set me up with, I finally realized I must choose my own. In short, MDRN came in on-time and on-budget. Any out-of-line costs beyond the original estimate were due to major upgrades or amenities that I asked for on my own, with absolutely no arm-twisting from the contractor or his crew. For example, we were needing to upgrade the electrical in order to accommodate new all-electric and induction appliances, as well as replace the floor complete with framing and subflooring. I therefore also opted for raising the floor in the (sunken) kitchen annex to have it all be on the same level and to move the new commodious refrigerator in there. This upgrade also involved raising the exit door to the side yard and creating new concrete steps to the outside. Even with this extra work, MDRN still came in on time, though at the outer rather than the inner range of their estimated time frame (three months instead of two). I also have nothing but high marks to give the various crews that did the work, from demolition to electrical to cabinetry, to plumbing, dry wall construction, painting, and tile flooring. Everyone that came to my house, as Eyal promised, was a pleasure to be around and highly professional -- efficient and meticulous. The Ukrainian-born cabinet installation crew (in-house to MDRN), especially, were master carpenters and the finished product with solid wood exteriors is a showpiece. And absolutely everyone graciously pitched in when something extra was required, like hoisting my giant new refrigerator through the only possible square opening in the kitchen wall when the delivery guys couldn't possibly handle it themselves. Eyal came by frequently to check whether everything was going smoothly and what was still needed. And the most consistent presence was his assistant construction manager, Bardia, for whom no task or issue was too large or too small. He handled everything in a timely manner with ease and aplomb. If you're looking for excellent work, excellent client relations, honesty and efficiency, and a great aesthetic partner to work with, then MDRN is a terrific choice. The only advice I would give anyone who plans to live in their home while any pretty major construction is going on, is to stay on top of the daily dust-prevention and cleanup. As great as the workmen are, this is not always their topmost priority. The photos are of the "to the studs" space in the transition phase and my wonderful new kitchen.
