we used to love going to F& S . There was a lot of people which made being out fun. There wasnt even a one worker at the ticket counter. We were looking so forward to having dinner there ( even though it's always been over priced and mediocre) but tonight aft sitting down we realized we had to do to the food counter to order. They did however deliver it to us. My chicken tenders were ok, my husband said his burger tasted precooked and rewarmed; my son said his quesadillas were ok but that Taco Bell was better.one of our seats was broken but luckily there was an extra one beside us. In the women's restroom there were 4 stalls closed and one sink out of pry. It's just sad to see it getting run down and not too busy. You'd think with the price we paid for 3 adults ($122) it would have been better. Im sure some of it is due to lack of employees. The prices haven't changed but the overall entertainment did . If you can't offer what you're "selling " do something different so the customer gets a better deal. We won't be back for awh. read more

It's the cinema suites...with annoying kids. The seats aren't the same (not as good), the wait staff does their best to stay low and quiet, but it's tough to keep concentrating on the movie; and both the times I've done the fork & screen ended with babies going stage 5 nuclear meltdown for several minutes ruining the movie. Not the movie theaters fault though. They can't control idiots bringing infants to the movies. By the way, if you have an infant (or multiple infants), please be a courteous patron and don't bring them to the movie theater...this should be common sense, but some people just don't get it. If you're an adult and really wanting to enjoy a movie, try to buck up for the cinema suites here instead. They do everything the fork and screen does food/drink wise but it's adults only (no babies or kids). read more

So, roughly 60 days ago, while looking up the telephone number for ABC Cafe, a favorite for authentic Chinese take-out (I couldn't find my menu in my kitchen), I saw a review on Yelp that made me indignant about this awesome restaurant, and 5 minutes later I had signed up and contributed my two cents to the conversation. Today, I write my 300th review. It makes sense to do something about food, my passion, and something unique, Fork and Screen. Yes, AMC is a national chain, but KC is its world headquarters, so sometimes I forget that we have things here that they don't necessarily have in other cities...yet. Fork and Screen takes the concept that you'll find at places like the Moolah or Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis - you can have alcohol in a movie - and brings it to the next level by offering wait service. OK, I don't know what people's problems are, but this place rocks! Maybe it's a case of "you dont' know what you've got til it's gone?" Because I can honestly say that I didn't fully appreciate Fork & Screen (or AMC theaters in general) until I left the KC area to move to the east coast. But really..........a full service restaurant in a movie theater? Complete with waitstaff? And assigned (reserved) seats? And all seats are good seats, with nobody's big head in your way? Really.......what's the problem here? The food is good......on a level with decent bar food. They do offer a full bar selection, as well as appetizers, desserts, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. Yes, the prices are a little high ($8 for popcorn and $4 for a soda), but it IS a movie theater.....and you get unlimited refills, and are served in REAL dishes, not a paper bag or cup. Tickets for a movie in this section are $9, which I guess may seem high to some people, but when a regular ticket in Annapolis is $10.50, it doesn't bother me at all. AMC has gone out of their way to make sure their guests have a great experience, with comfy seats (some of which even recline partially), awesome sound, and fantastic picture quality. I really wish they'd bring a Fork & Screen out to Maryland.....give Bow Tie a run for their money! Just one tip: Unless you're specifically going to see a kids' movie (which isn't often in this section), please leave the little ones at home or go to a "regular" cinema. People go to Fork & Screen for the experience, and don't want it ruined with screaming talking children. The fork and screen used to be my favorite way to see movies. Now it's a big nope. Tonight was the first time I've been since they redid their menu. They reduced the variety of the items on the menu and greatly increased the prices. I assumed they were just upping the quality of their food to compete with Alamo Drafthouse and Cinetopia... But again, nope. For $16 you got 2 1/2 chicken fingers, a modest pile of fries, and about three tablespoons of slaw. I know this because the guy next to me ordered it and burst out laughing at how ridiculous it was when they brought it out. I saw that they still had mac and cheese on the menu, which had always been pretty good in the past. It's $3 more than it was before the menu change but at least it's the same food, right? WRONG. It's half the portion, it tastes like a box mix when before it tasted homemade and they took away the best thing about it, the breadstick. It is now the equivalent to Velveta Mac and Cheese. Except, you know, $12 for one bowl. My husband ordered the sampler platter. Two of the items that were supposed to be in the sampler were missing. They replaced the wings with a chicken finger and the stuffed pretzels with tater tots. The most annoying thing was that even though they already marked a glass of soda on the menu up to $4.50, they charged us over by 30 cents each. Sure, it's not a lot of money, less than a dollar for the two of us... But really?? They've got a lot of nerve to charge almost 5 bucks for 10 cents worth of fountain drink, and then they go and overcharge above their menu price for it too? The majority of people there had soda, you're just overcharging who knows how many people because you can and its dark when we sign the checks? My husband and I used to be able to have a nice night out at the F&S (including tickets) for between $45 and $50. Tonight our total after tickets and food was SEVENTY dollars. This place used to be fun and worth it even though it was a little bit of a rip off. Now it's a complete joke and makes the entire company seem shady. Fork & Screen is the dining-movies section of the AMC 30 complex; there's about eight theaters, I think, set up for this style. I personally love it & think it's a brilliant date-night idea. Ticket prices are a few bucks more than the regular shows, and the food (mostly gastropub type items) is also a couple bucks more than you might see at a comparable restaurant. I consider it a totally-worth-it convenience fee for not having to rush through dinner because you're going to miss the start of the movie. It's assigned seating, too, so you can choose your preferred seat ahead of time on the AMC website when you advance-purchase your tickets. The food is pretty darn good -- not concession-stand nachos & fries served in a paper boat, but full-sized entrees served on real plates. The Boy always gets a cheeseburger, which he likes a lot. Or order a couple of appetizers for a small-plates meal; the crab cakes are excellent, and the Wings & Things sampler is a ton of food that will keep two people happy. Plus you can order from the bar! (They routinely card everyone, though, so don't leave your ID in the car even if you're pushing 50.) The servers don't come around much after the movie starts, which I think is actually a plus, but there's a call button if you need a refill or something. Definitely check this place out, it takes dinner-and-a-movie up a notch. read more

After several experiences here, I'm convinced this is one of the best ways to see a movie in the Kansas City area. Olathe AMC's Fork and Screen division of the theater provides the audience with a comfy way to take in a Hollywood flick. Yes, there are other theaters in the area that offer similar accommodations (see Alamo Drafthouse) but Olathe Fork and Screen offer the widest variety of food, drink, service, comfort, and most importantly quiet. Keep in mind, there are two different types of theaters in the F&S section. The aptly named Fork and Screen theaters, replete with a comfy chair, albeit close to the next patron, and the Cinema Suites, for the discerning patron. These beauties come with a recliner and a swiveling tray and cup holders. Both are good options that come with the same food fare from the theater's kitchen. Burgers, wraps, flatbreads, chicken fingers, etc... line the menu and are actually really good. I've been pleased with the burgers and the thai coconut chicken fingers. don't pass up a $.50 cent upcharge for some Parmesan fries, a decadent batch of cheesy, starchy goodness. The cinema suites are posh, but come with a price. We recently saw a movie here for 17 bucks a ticket and then a 40 dollar food bill (beer, app, and two entrees). You get what you pay for, however. Plush leather chairs that fully recline (electronically), a server at a push of a button, and arms length distance from the person next to you (assuming you are here with one other person that sits directly next to you.) Both Fork and Screen and Cinema Suite theaters are 21 and over because of the booze (7 bucks for a 21 ouncer), and it's well worth it not to have to sit next to a crying infant or a pack of kids at a birthday party. You'll "fork" over the cash to pay for your movie experience, but it's well worth it. read more

I was VERY surprised to see all the poor reviews for Fork and Screen. I went for the first time several weeks ago and it was a great experience overall. Our food was delivered promptly, and it was very hot. Our drinks were also delivered quickly. The biggest complaint I have is that the waitstaff does not seem to really come back around to check in/refill drinks. There is a call button, however, so next time I go I'll just have to be button happy. I thought what I ordered was very, very good. I got the Bacon & Chicken Macaroni and Cheese. It was absolutely delicious. Well cooked chicken, delicious bacon, and yummy cheese all delivered piping hot. The serving was also MASSIVE. I ate until I was full and could have gotten at least one, possibly two more full meals out of it. The only reason I didn't take it home is that I'm on Weight Watchers and can afford one indulgent meal, not three! read more

The whole premise of this experience is to package both dinner and a movie into an experience in one place. Initially the idea sounds appealing, and when they sell you the movie tickets at a higher price you begin to think its going to keep teenagers away from your night out. I have been to places like this before in Chicago and have always had a great experience, but the food at the Fork and Screen was truly terrible. I had a chance to sample 3 different dishes, one appetizers and two entrees. The quesadillas were almost burn and all of the toppings on the side seem to have just come out of the freezer. We got there with plenty of time to eat before the movie was to start, but it took them almost 45 minutes to cook a burger and some chicken tenders. The Thai flavored chicken tenders were soggy lacked much taste. The burger also had no flavor and don't even get me started on their "Parmesan" fries. The place almost feel like a scam, because even though you get a voucher for food with your movie ticket, everything is overpriced and of poor quality. A movie at home and a frozen dinner is a better alternative than the fork and screen. read more

AMC 30 is a great movie theatre. I've been going here since it first opened and I will continue to be a patron at this place. That said, I had a sort of miserable experience going to Fork and Screen on Saturday. When my friend explained that the $21 ticket covered the food voucher and the ticket, I was excited for the movie experience. But like someone said, the $10 voucher goes quickly. I got some mozzarella sticks and a diet coke and it came out to $14. The sticks were quite bland. I mean, how hard it it to make a good cheese stick?! The quantity and the quality of my food and drink for $14 were pretty disappointing. Secondly, I was seated two seats down from a screaming kid which all but ruined the actual movie-watching part of the experience for me. Why are children allowed in these theatres? If you're going to make the venue look like a bar and make it look like a place to take a date, consider not allowing kids in the the theatres. Just a thought. read more

Certainly can't argue it is a good idea. Unfortunately, the conculsion becomes familiar every visit... overpriced food, overpriced drinks, and bad service. Most of the time the food has been at least decent for what it is. The last visit finally did it for me. It took over 40 minutes to get my first drink (a beer). I had to ask a different waiter to track it down because ours went MIA. Another staff member told us they couldn't find him either so we placed our order with him. Food arrived fairly quick along with being hot and tasting decent. However they hardly gave us any ketchup so we ran out very quick. Our real waiter actually showed for this call. He said he would return with more really quick and apologized for being "MAI". 30 minutes later when our food was cold he showed up asking if received it. I told him no, so he blamed it on the other staff members for forgetting the item. I'm pretty sure that is his responsibility. AMC, you need to start hiring staff that is good at waiting on tables just like a restraunt... Summary: - Good idea. I like the thought of enjoying food and beer at the movies - Often a good way to avoid loud groups/kids - Food has been pretty decent for what it is except for one time it arrived cold and took quite a long time. So far I think the Fish and Chips are my favorite. Prime Rib sandwitch was good too - Service has been bad more than good. Especially the last several visits - Overpriced. Alrhought I liked the idea of having a cocktail and being waited on during a movie--it wasn't what I thought it would be. Drinks are short poured and over priced - food was terrible and I waited almost an hour for our food - not to mention we got our food before our drinks ! Yes . I said drinks . We just returned from our first visit and I liked it. Not perfect, but we had an enjoyable afternoon here seeing Marley and Me (except for my heart being ripped out by this movie). I liked my food - it was a Veggie Griller sandwich with the house-made chips. I asked if they were truly house-made and the waitress said they were and they tasted pretty good. One other good thing...VERY cold and delicious tasting beer. We had so-so service - it was a bit slow. Also - kids allowed as previous poster noted. Most of the appetizers are a little greasy but I do like pub pretzels. Good place for a girls day out or mother daughter bonding time. You can say "As Good As It Gets" again and again. Watching a movie on a BIG screen and have tasty greasy food right at your finger tips. YEAH! We are not not from KS, so every time we visit the relatives, we make sure we make it to at least 1 fork & screen. Us Californians are still waiting for our first Fork and Screen AMC Hellooooo! It would be sooooooo popular. I for one have not had a bad experience. We generally go on a weekday during the day so we don't have to worry about the crowds. Service is always attentive and the food is above average brewery type food. I don't recommend going with fancy options; stick with the burgers and sandwiches they are above average. They make pretty good drinks too. They don't serve mojitos with the fresh mints so I didn't like that. My jack and coke was pretty darn good. We didn't get much interruptions by our server. Even when we did, they stooped down and whispered to me. I don't mind so much. Overall, great movie experience with delicious food. I can't ask for more. EXCEPT...AMC when will you put one in San Jose, CA????? read more

My husband and I used to love the Fork & Screen and Cinema Suites menu. We even used to eat at the sit down "restaurant" before movies. Their food was great and the prices were reasonable. The burgers were amazing. Since they changed their menu, my husband and I have eaten there twice. I've had a burger from their revamped, ridiculously priced menu, and it wasn't the same. There is no comparison. We went to the Fork & Screen today and the food is awful. The wait staff was kind and swift, but the prices are gourmet for mediocre quality. We spent a whopping $16 on 2.5 chicken tenders, fries, and two biscuits. My husband couldn't even eat the biscuits: the freezer burn made them inedible. I keep hoping they change their menu back, but it's been a year and that clearly won't happen. I won't pay gourmet prices for food that comes (and tastes) straight from the freezer. read more

I used to live within two miles of this theater. Hate to admit it but actually budgeted money monthly to allow a weekly visit to cinema suites or fork and screen. I always had dinner and drinks when I went. Needless to say it was a lot of money but never regretted it and always looked forward to my weekly visit. Unfortunately, things have changed greatly over the last three years. Because these particular theaters require reserved seating which is a plus, tickets must be purchased in advance and picked up at their kiosk. This wasn't a problem in the beginning. The high dollar tickets also came with a voucher to use for food and drink purchases, another plus. The seats are comfy and it's nice not to miss parts of the movie for trips to long lines at the concession because they provide service to your seats... Another plus! The changes? More than 50% of kiosks either out of commission or malfunctioning (this has been true the last dozen times i have went) The recliners are now so noisy that its embarrassing to adjust the seat during the movie (cinema suites). This could be corrected with a simple spray of WD40. The vouchers are no longer offered. The server will leave your check within 20 minutes of the start of the movie no questions asked, which I find rude. They no longer allow to order more than one alcoholic drink at a time despite the fact it normally takes 15-20 minutes to receive your order. Note that I rarely see the bartender actually working diligently on anything so I still don't understand the delay. My experience today at the fork and screen theater: 1-ordered tickets online 2-visited kiosk, machine made sounds that it was printing but didn't. Screen told me to enjoy my movie but failed to give tickets. Tried again- card error. 3- stood in long line at ticket counter, have card and confirmation but he said he couldn't help and directed to customer service. 4-customer service says tickets are sometimes stuck. Went and retrieved tickets. Movie has already started 5-ordered dinner and peak sweet tea 6-received watered down tea with hardly any sweetness and advised server 7-replaced tea with same crap but never asked if it was any better 8- server left check 20 minutes after movie started 9-5 minutes later, server walked by to gather empty plates or if we were ready to pay and noticed empty glasses (we were thirsty) but mentions nothing of refills 10-10 minutes later, server flies by and looks for more empty plates or if we were ready to pay, still mentions nothing of refills. 11- 10 minutes later, we walk to bar to get more drinks, find still watered down crap upon return to seat. 12- 10 minutes later, server returns with refills. (A bit too late) 13- went to main concessions and was told that they ran out of sweet tea so they watered down regular unsweetened tea and added simple syrup to get them by until they got more. 14- server comes back to see if ready to pay, 20 minutes before end of movie. I mention to him that we went and got more tea from bar, he gets flustered that the refills are free! Tried to explain that they could take the receipt and deduct amount from dining ticket then... He just glared at me like I was speaking a foreign language. Told him we could discuss at end of movie. Never to come back. Terrible experience. This place has went down hill drastically. I will stick with the regular old type theater with regular prices and decent concessions. read more

I really like the concept of feeling like you're at home in a nice comfy chair and you've got your food right in front of you. Unfortunately, the food is awful. I've gotten several things off their menu and the only thing that was decent is the turkey club. We've had our order brought out completely incorrectly, but it was quickly fixed. If I'm paying a decent amount of money for a movie and food, it should be better quality than that. It just tastes like everything is microwaved and nothing is fresh. Cinema Suites: Better than your run-of-the-mill stadium seating. You get to enjoy your own comfy recliner & order food or cocktails served on your own attached tray. Downside-if you move at all, everyone will hear you! Not the quietest of seating on the market. A little tip, don't sit in back if you're shorter than 6ft or you can't see all of the screen. The food really isn't bad & staff is friendly. It can be an enjoyable time, just pick your seating carefully. read more

I'm giving them a bump up to two stars since the restaurant manager did reach out to me about my recent visit. He said they were experiencing some issues with the new menu, and that they were working it out. He also graciously offered some replacement movie passes, which I thought was a nice touch. I asked what kind of feedback they were getting on the new menu, and he said it was "mixed", and that he was passing it all along to the corporate offices. I still don't know if I can recommend the Fork and Screen experience with this menu and the current prices, but it sounded like the manager was doing his best with what corporate had given him. He didn't have a lot of answers for me about the new prices and the removal of so many items. I didn't want to pester him anymore about decisions he had nothing to do with, but the experience was so bad I just wanted to know why they would mess with what I thought was a 3 or 4 star experience in the past. Last night (Sunday, Nov. 1st) was my fourth time dining at the Fork and Screen. We had such a terrible experience, it over-shadows our relatively positive experiences in the past. First of all, they have increased prices. Tickets are now $17.50 each for the Fork and Screen on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This includes a $7.50 per ticket voucher for food and drinks, but everything is so absurdly over-priced that the voucher quickly disappears. Last night, we were approached twice (when we had not touched our light) about our order. The second time Makenzie (our server) came up to us and my dining companion had not yet decided what she wanted, Makenzie said, "Really? You have no idea?" Um, I'm sorry, but what's the rush? The movie had not even started yet! We were still in previews! About five minutes later, still during the movie previews, we placed our order. A few minutes later when they brought my dining companion her food, I placed an order for a grilled cheese sandwich (which comes with tomato soup and their house-made potato chips which are really quite tasty). I placed my order a few minutes later because I had not decided if i was going to eat dinner or not. But my order was still placed within the first 15 minutes of the movie because my dining companion did get her food super fast! Thirty minutes later, they brought us our check. I still didn't have my grilled cheese sandwich. About 10 minutes later, Makenzie came by to pick up our check (in the middle of the movie, no less? WHAT IS THE RUSH?) and since we had not looked at the check or put done a method of payment, Makenzie said to us, "Can you pay your check?" So then I asked Makenzie about my grilled cheese and where it was. She never said sorry, she just took my order yet AGAIN and then left with the check (because I guess the grilled cheese sandwich had not been on the check). My dining companion also placed an order for dessert. About 20 minutes later, Makenzie returned with our check which now had my grilled cheese sandwich and my dining companion's dessert order added to the check, but we STILL did not have our food. We told her this and I just said, "Actually, it's fine. Will you just take the grilled cheese sandwich off our check and cancel the order?" She said she would, took our check with her, and then actually said she was sorry! Miracle! But about five minutes later, my grilled cheese arrived. Makenzie brought our check back with the grilled cheese still on it. If there was any customer service at all, they would have comped the grilled cheese (cuz, really, does it take an HOUR to cook a grilled cheese sandwich?!?!?!...not to mention that I HAD canceled my order). But they didn't. Also, I should add that we were interrupted TWICE during the movie by wandering servers who approached us and tried to give us food and drinks that were not OURS. TWICE! All in all, I barely was able to pay attention to the movie due to all the interruptions. The only good decision of the evening on our part was paying for our meal with cash. Most of the audience didn't. The movie ended. And nearly EVERYONE just sat there because NO ONE had come to pick up their checks and run their credit cards! read more

I love to go to Fork and Screen. Yes, it is over priced, yes it is average food, but what a treat to do something different. I have never had poor service in all of my trips there, the people are always very nice and very accomodating. I love the thai chicken, and the menu is varied enough that there is something on it for everyone. I don't know that I would spend the money on the mixed drinks because not sure it is worth it for that, and the one down side if you want something from the concessions counter, like some candis, you have to go out to get it. However, they water glasses were always filled, the seats are comfortable and now that you can reserve them, I am happy. Fun evening out read more

We have a little one, so a date night out and uninterrupted dinner of any kind is nice. We have been to the Fork & Screen three times. The first visit was pretty good, but I must add, my first movie night out in over a year, so my opinion may have been skewed. Our second visit was not bad, but the BLT had merely one to two strips of bacon and the "house made chips" were very burnt. I wished I would have just ordered the fries. The food is average, and always seems a little warmed over. Our most recent visit, the chicken tenders were soft and had that reheated appeal, the side salad puny and wilted, and mainly made up of the salad "bones". It looked more like a side of lettuce meant for a sandwich as opposed to a side salad. Things happen, but be cautious when eating in the dark! We found a large, almond-sized piece of glass in our appetizer. My husband bit into his potato boat and thought it was bacon buried in the melted cheese! He LOVES bacon, so it's a good thing he did not go ahead and swallow it! The server was as appalled as we were, very accomodating and apologetic, stating that the piece did likely come from a glass the chef had broken earlier. The theater was very generous in replacing our food and completely took care of our bill for the rest of the evening. I must say, with our bill covered, we did then overindulge (with caution, of course!), so it was sort of bittersweet. I have worked in food service and think that all food within "at least" a 6 foot radius of a glass break should be tossed, as one cannot ensure that the glass didn't scatter! Sure makes you think. Overall, our experience has been good. The convenience of Fork & Screen is what keeps me going back. It allows us to fit more into our date night without the kids because there is no waiting for a table at a restaurant, and we just get down to business with both dinner & a movie. The food could be better. I don't particularly crave anything on the menu, except maybe the dessert, but I am pregnant, so you can't wave it in front of me and not expect me to jump! If we really want good eats, we can go out to a restaurant first and still go to Fork & Screen for the snacks and free refill popcorn! I think it's a great value for as pricey as movie theater concessions have traditionally been. I give it 3 stars...better quality of food would make it a 4. read more

Went to the Fork & Screen for Valentine's on a group date and had a lovely time. I enjoyed having plenty of aisle space and being able to choose my seat. (It's always so uncomfortable being squished in next to a stranger with an unnatural fondness for pork rinds.) Our service was prompt and accurate, though I can't say the same for the other 4 couples in our group, many of them had to send the check back for a revision. Will I go again? Yes. Been here for a few Previews and Hindi movies. Its the only location catering to our Indian population. Like the snack bar, but like any, they are expensive and prices aren't going down... Have those new coke we have every variety soda fountains. LIke the different size theaters. Big theater is comfortable and has plenty of seating. I'll take an AMC over our older Dickerson. read more

We love this place, only way to see a movie, plus you csn get a burger and a beer at your sest..Awesome!

Food is ok but a bit pricey for what you get. Same food in cinema suites but the reclining chairs are much better. Ticket is same cost for it you just pay more for a larger voucher for food. read more

If you didn't know already..don't eat sushi from a movie theater. My boyfriend ate 2 pieces of his roll and had horrible food poisoning from it. Beware of what you eat in the dark. read more

This is a fun experience, but the food could be better. Probably should go without saying, but you have to remember to allot enough time before the movie to eat, otherwise you can't see your food very well. read more
