I have been to this nail salon on three different occasions for three different services. My overall impression and feedback is that they're "OK" but I will probably never become a regular patron. The best thing about this salon is their convenience. They're located in Moanalua Shopping Center so they're near McDonald's, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, a gas station, the Commissary, the NEX, Target, etc. This is pretty much a full service salon, they do hair, nails and waxing.
So I don't know if Nail Tek is sponsored by Apple because practically every employee was playing on an iPad the last time I was there. It wasn't too busy so every employee that wasn't occupied was on their iPad! Not only do they spend their downtime on their iPads, but they service each other too. When I walked in, there was a customer getting her hair colored. When more customers started to walk in, the "customer" got out of the chair and began preparing to give someone a pedicure. She was actually an employee, so she started giving someone a pedicure with the hair color and foil in her hair! It was hilarious!
They have a clean facility. So clean, that they place a plastic covering in the tub of the spa pedicure chairs before they start your pedicure. This is definitely a plus-it prevents the foot tub from getting grungy and also lessens the amount of time they spend cleaning it.
There are 2 large TV screens above the pedicure area and a neat thing about their manicure tables is the little fans that are built-in, or made to look like they're built-in the tables. So after your nails have been painted, you just sit there with your hands above the fans.
The first time I went there was for a pedicure and I probably won't be back there for another pedicure. All I remember was that it didn't last very long. There wasn't much scrubbing or massaging going on. The thing I liked though, was that the employee didn't speak to me very much, which is how I prefer it. The last thing I go to get a pedicure for is to chat it up with the person that's servicing me. I go there to relax and try to think about as little as possible.
My second visit to Nail Tek was to get my eyebrows waxed and trimmed. When I laid down and the employee looked at my eyebrows, she told me that I should just pluck the hairs because there weren't too many hairs to wax. Excuse me?! Just provide this service I'm asking of you, take my money and be done with it! Geeze! She (Anna) did a great job though!
My most recent visit was just to get a manicure with regular nail polish. I am taking a break from Gelish and also didn't want to shell out the extra money, which is why I chose to go with regular polish. Anyway, when I was picking out a color, the employee came and told me that I should go with gel polish and why it's so much better and blah, blah, blah! I still stuck with regular nail polish and even when she was doing my manicure, she was still trying to talk me into getting gel nails. Seriously?! It ended up being the most pitiful manicure I've had because she must have massaged both of my hands/forearms for less than 2 minutes-combined! I've been to places where I've received a longer massage for a lower price!
In short, here's how I rate Nail Tek:
Pedicure: 2/5
Manicure: 2/5
Eyebrow Wax: 4/5
