FOREST NAILS 2 IS FOR MEN TOO!
Without having to resort to hypnotherapy, I have recently embarked on the road to break my habit of nail biting (onychophagia) which I can only assume that learned from my grandmother when she was watching me while I was a baby. I'm not sure if it was cute when I was an 18 month toddler, but at my current age of 444 months, it just freaking disgusts most people. For the last two weeks I have been applying a particularly effective anti-nail biting polish and I thought that a fair reward would be to get a manicure and a pedicure.
It's a small shop on the strip, so you may want to call ahead if you don't want to take the risk of waiting for a girl to free up so that you can get your mani-pedi on. As luck should have it, while women were getting their manicures done at the tables, all of the mani-pedi chairs were open. I climbed aboard the chair furthest from the door and prepared to have my virgin feet buffed and polished.
She started out by simply clipping of my nails. I have to say that their angle is much better than when I try to do it myself, because she didn't draw blood from the Captain of the Toes (The Big Toe) or any of the the others. It's safe to say that there was no "coup de toe" here! A standard pedicure goes for $22, but they hand you a card with a ton of options and after the gentle touch of her handiwork, she could have sold me on any of those extras. After a brief review of my callused feet, she recommended the Orange Peel to strip my feet of years of abuse and dry skin.
Orange Peel Pedicure $46.00
An orange peel patch is placed on the callus area for 15 minutes. It penetrates deep into the skin to soften and repair dry, cracked and calluses heels. They then buff the callus and finish with a special foot shampoo that prevents foot odor and fungus. Includes longer massage and heel paraffin treatment.
Standard Manicure $9.50 (She used my own anti-nail bite polish)
Overall, it was a wonderfully relaxing experience which made my feet feel baby soft. From start to finish, the whole mani-pedi took an hour, but I understand that it can take about 20 minutes longer for women as they need to have nail polish applied to their fingernails and toenails. I'm sad to report that my Pinky finger was a recent casualty of a random act of violence to be perpetuated on an innocent nail. In my mind it felt like a jagged hangnail and need to be removed. Aside from that sole victim, all of my other fingers still look great. Can't wait to get back there to reward myself for breaking the habit by breaking down those calluses and making my hands smooth and pretty. read more
